Chapter 338 - Chapter 337: Mysterious Broadcast and the Secret Chamber

Since he had agreed to Satake's request, Natsui and Sabrina walked into the ruins together.

The two first entered the stone chamber closest to them. Although it was still daytime outside, it was quite dim inside. Because there was no power or lighting, Natsui had to turn on his flashlight to see the specific situation inside the chamber.

The bright beam from the flashlight swept across the stone walls.

With the light, he looked around, but the place was empty. Even the patterns on the walls that resembled writing were already blurred and so weathered that they were almost illegible.

Walking up to the stone wall, Natsui slowly ran his fingers over the patterns, as if he could still feel the traces of the passage of time within them.

He turned his head to Sabrina and asked, "Is there anything strange around here?"

Sabrina closed her eyes, and her internal psychic power spread out to sense the surroundings. But after a long while, she still shook her head.

"No, this place just feels calm to me, like a desert or a rock. It's just an ordinary existence, nothing out of place."

Hearing her say this, Natsui wasn't too surprised.

It made sense. After all, this place had been explored by Satake and his team countless times. If there were really something here, it would have been discovered by them long ago. How could it be his turn?

And Satake clearly didn't expect him to explore in such a conventional way.

Leaving this stone chamber, the two went to the second and third ones, but just like the last one, there was still nothing there.

No… searching blindly like this is definitely a waste of effort.

Natsui stood in place, his mind recalling the related plot from the game. He went through his memories carefully and finally decided to try a different method.

He quickly walked out of the stone chamber and went to Satake's side.

"Do you have a radio?"

"A radio?" Satake was taken aback. "What do you need that for?"

Natsui naturally couldn't explain and just said vaguely, "I have an idea in my head, and I need a radio to verify it."

A discovery?

Satake's eyes lit up. In truth, he hadn't expected Natsui to really find anything. He had just thought that with his champion status, he might have some different perspective than an ordinary person, so he had let him try his luck.

Now, hearing him say this, it was clear that he had some clue, so he naturally had to support him fully.

But… a radio…

Satake pondered for a moment.

In this day and age, apart from the elderly, very few people still used radios. Besides, this place was far from the city. Even if they had a radio, there were no nearby radio stations, so they wouldn't be able to receive any channels.

"Wait a moment, I'll have someone look for one right away."

With that, Satake quickly took out his phone, dialed a number, and gave some urgent instructions.

After waiting for over half an hour, a researcher, panting heavily, ran over from a distance, holding a relatively new radio.

"I… I found one!"

Natsui took the radio with some trepidation. To be honest, he didn't know if this method would work, but it was better to try than to give up.

He took the radio and returned to the ruins. And a few researchers, including Satake, perhaps curious about what would happen next, also followed him.

Ignoring them, Natsui turned on the radio. Because there were no stations nearby, it naturally received no signal. Only the harsh 'crackle, crackle' of static came from the radio.

He endured the noisy sound, gently turned the dial, and slowly moved the channel from left to right.

Everyone, except Natsui, held their breath and watched him. Even Gengar floated curiously in the air, wanting to see what Natsui was up to.

10.5… 12.1… 12.8… 13…

Amidst the long sound of static, when Natsui finally tuned the channel to 13.5, a different sound finally came from the radio.

'Crackle… beep, beep… crackle… whoo…'

Although the sound was very faint, full of static, and intermittent, it still lifted everyone's spirits.

Satake said in shock, "This is…"

"Shh!"

Making a shushing gesture at him, Natsui stopped adjusting the channel. Instead, he turned the volume to the maximum and walked towards the nearest stone chamber.

As he reached the entrance of the chamber, the sound from the radio became slightly clearer. Seeing this, Natsui quickly changed direction, and the sound became clearer and clearer.

When he finally reached a particular one among the many stone chambers, the sound had become complete, without any static.

"Amazing!"

Satake couldn't help but widen his eyes. And as he listened carefully, he could feel that the sound seemed to be the melody of some kind of flute, with the cry of a bird Pokémon mixed in.

Hearing this sound, the group of researchers was extremely excited. They took out paper and pens and began to record it. But when they turned to look inside the stone chamber, they saw that it was, like the others, completely empty, with nothing special about it.

"What now?"

Natsui walked up to a stone wall, looked it over for a few moments, and then commanded Gengar, "Pass through and see what's behind the wall."

"Got it!"

Under everyone's watchful eyes, Gengar passed through the wall, and almost the next second, it returned.

"There's a room behind the wall!"

"What!?"

Satake and the others were greatly shocked. This was an amazing discovery. Although they had tried to find similar secret rooms before, there were just too many stone chambers, and they had given up after searching a dozen or so.

And now, who would have thought that behind such an ordinary stone chamber, there was a hidden room?

Natsui fumbled on the wall for a while but didn't find any switch. He then turned his gaze to Satake.

"Do you trust me?"

"Of course we trust you!" Satake said excitedly. "Without you, who knows how long it would have taken us to discover this secret. This is a big discovery. I wonder what new findings are behind the wall."

"Then let's break down the wall."

"Huh? This…"

Satake hesitated for a moment. This was, after all, part of the ruins. Even a single stone was very precious. If they broke down the wall, it would undoubtedly damage the integrity of the ruins.

But if they didn't, they couldn't enter the room behind it.

Fortunately, he only thought for a moment before making up his mind. But to prevent unnecessary damage, he didn't have a Pokémon do it. Instead, he had his staff use hammers and chisels to carefully excavate, bit by bit.

Because they didn't dare to use machinery, this was destined to be a time-consuming and meticulous job.

Taking advantage of their busy work, Natsui and Sabrina returned to the research center and had lunch in the cafeteria there. By the time he returned, these people had already opened up a passage.
