Chapter 349 - Chapter 348: A Probing Battle Against Mewtwo!

Staring intently at Mewtwo, Gardevoir's whole body tensed, its battle intent instantly reaching its peak.

Even without seeing the psychic power at work, one could feel that Gardevoir was surrounded by a powerful energy from the pebbles slowly rising around it.

This energy was continuously brewing, seemingly ready to be unleashed at any moment.

Seeing its on-guard appearance, Mewtwo couldn't help but snort and turned to look at Natsui.

"Is this your true intention? It seems quite different from what you said. I originally thought that since neither of us belongs to this world, we would have a certain resonance after we parted ways last time. I never thought that when we met again, you would challenge me."

Natsui shook his head.

He knew that ever since their private conversation last time, when he had confessed to Mewtwo that he was a transmigrator, Mewtwo had already considered him a different kind of being, thinking that he, like itself, would be very repulsed by this world.

But he and Mewtwo were still fundamentally different.

Looking at the powerful, silver-purple Pokémon that resembled both a cat and an alien, Natsui said solemnly, "You're the only one with no sense of belonging. After traveling for so long, I have now completely integrated into this world. I have my friends, my partners, and my lover here. And you, you just hide here and watch everything with a cold eye. If you continue like this, no matter how much time passes, you will still be all alone."

Mewtwo's brow furrowed slightly.

Because it disdained interacting with humans and didn't see any creature as its equal, no one had ever spoken to it like this before. Hearing Natsui's words now, it was naturally a bit moved.

But that was all.

Seeing Mewtwo's silence, Natsui continued, "And you've misunderstood. If I really wanted to start a capture battle, I wouldn't have sent out just one Gardevoir. I came to find you this time because my Gardevoir is also a Psychic-type Pokémon, and it has always considered you its greatest rival. So now that I'm back in Kanto, I specially brought it here to have a spar with you."

A spar?

Mewtwo came back to its senses.

What a nice way of putting it. In the end, it still comes down to a battle.

After saying so much, he just wants to test my strength again.

It knew in its heart that if it refused, or showed any carelessness in the upcoming battle and revealed an opening, this man would instantly turn this so-called spar into a capture battle.

With this thought, Mewtwo stood up, stretched its body, and landed on the ground. It crossed its arms, and its powerful presence, like a gas, blew Natsui's bangs across his face.

Compared to Gardevoir, Mewtwo was visibly more powerful.

The two energies met in the air, rubbing and colliding, producing a series of 'crackle' sounds.

"Even if it is a weakling, I do not mind its challenge. Since that is what you want, I will naturally see it through to the end."

Seeing it agree, Natsui nodded with an appreciative look.

See, this tone, this is the confidence of the strongest man-made Pokémon. This is what makes it worth my effort to conquer it.

In fact, just as Natsui had said just now, with his current strength, even without the Master Ball, if he were to send out all his Pokémon at once, including the three legendary birds, Gyarados, and Gengar, as long as Mewtwo didn't think of escaping, there was a high chance of capturing it.

But Natsui chose not to do so.

There was still a long time. Slowly cultivating a relationship like this was also a good method. After all, Mewtwo was one of a kind. If possible, he wanted to capture it in a more peaceful way.

Most importantly, Mewtwo still had a strong hostile sentiment towards humans. Forcibly capturing it could very well lead to its rebellion.

But as for this battle…

In his heart, Natsui already knew that if he only sent out Gardevoir, it would be a definite loss.

But even so, this battle had to be fought. The purpose was to put pressure on Mewtwo, and also to see just how big the gap between Gardevoir and Mewtwo really was.

Go, Gardevoir! Use Psychic!

Natsui gave the command in his mind, and after hearing his order, Gardevoir directly launched its attack.

It used Teleport to appear behind Mewtwo, and the long-brewing psychic power turned into a Psychic blast that surged towards it.

The massive, visible energy arrived in an instant, but Mewtwo just turned and gently raised its right arm, and a barrier formed in front of it.

The Psychic blast hit the barrier, but failed to break through its defense.

The difference in power was immediately apparent.

Although the power gap was obvious, Gardevoir was not discouraged. Its desire to attack was high, and it also knew that Natsui had let it go all out. Seeing that its first attack had failed, it immediately launched a second one.

Magical Leaf, Psychic, Psybeam, Moonblast—one after another.

And faced with its continuous attacks, Mewtwo at first defended with ease. But soon, after the barrier was shattered, it also had to show some of its skill to fight back.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Psychic moves whistled through the air, colliding and exploding.

The two Pokémon went back and forth, and in the blink of an eye, they had already exchanged over a dozen rounds.

Energy was poured out towards each other, but after so long, Mewtwo was still unharmed. Only the surrounding rocks were shattered by the battle's aftershock, the lake water was blasted open, and the ground was covered with large craters.

The originally beautiful scenery was now completely unrecognizable.

To avoid being hit, Natsui took a few steps back, and Gengar also secretly acted, blocking the flying stone fragments that were heading towards him.

"Be careful. These two are making too much of a ruckus. It would be a real loss if you got caught in it."

Natsui nodded. Looking at the battlefield again, the battle was still going on. Mewtwo had taken to the air, and Gardevoir, also wrapping itself in psychic power, had chased it into the sky.

The two of them continuously shuttled between the hanging stalactites. But soon, as the battle intensified, Natsui could no longer follow their movements with his naked eye. He could only rely on the explosions and the telepathic feedback from Gardevoir to get a general idea of their position and the battle situation.

Gengar's eyes were fixed on the battlefield. It leaned close to Natsui's ear and whispered, "Now is a good chance to catch it. Want me to help?"

Natsui refused without hesitation.

"No need. Leave it to Gardevoir. This battle is its trial. And as I said before, we are not here to catch Mewtwo today."

Just as his attention was diverted for a moment, when he looked up again, he saw a white figure flying towards him.

Looking closely, it was Gardevoir, which, after being hit by Mewtwo by mistake, had rolled to his front.

Gardevoir rolled a few times before stopping at his feet. Natsui quickly knelt down and helped it up.

Observing it up close, he found that Gardevoir was in a very bad state. Its body was covered in wounds, and it looked quite battered. Its consciousness was also a bit blurry.

"You've worked hard."

Natsui sighed softly. As expected, a crushing defeat.

Ever since he had gotten Gardevoir, it had always been at ease in battle. This was the first time it had gotten itself into such a mess.

Swoosh!

Just then, Mewtwo also used Teleport to appear before Natsui. It looked down on him, its eyes glowing with a blue light, clearly gathering power for its next attack.

At that moment, its body was still spotless. And from this, one could see that the battle with Gardevoir had caused it almost no damage.

But fortunately, its chest was also rising and falling slightly, so it had clearly expended some effort to deal with Gardevoir, which made it seem not so invincible.

It could only be said, as expected of Mewtwo. Now it seemed that the gap between the two was still obvious. The current Gardevoir was undoubtedly no match for it and needed to become stronger.

Taking out a Poké Ball, Natsui recalled Gardevoir into it.

"Forget it. Let's stop here for today. Gardevoir is not your match. There's no need to fight anymore."

Seeing Natsui stop just like that, Mewtwo couldn't help but tilt its head in confusion.

Even though Gardevoir had been defeated, it still hadn't let down its guard.

After all, from the moment Natsui had stepped in here, it had always been able to feel that the Gengar beside him possessed extremely powerful strength. And in the Poké Balls on Natsui's belt, it could also feel three sharp auras locked onto it.

And these auras were eager to go, as if they would rush up to fight it at any moment, just waiting for their master's command.
