After walking for a long time, until over an hour later, Natsui and Erika finally reached the border of Greenfield, leaving this tourist spot that, although their time here was short, had left a deep impression on them.
They continued west, walking under the not-so-hot sun. They first crossed a wide river, then climbed over a small hill, and finally, before noon, they arrived at another dense grassland.
Looking out, there was a clear lake in the center of the grassland, and thousands of wild Pokémon of different species were living here peacefully.
Standing on a small hillock, the two stopped and watched for a while. In the low sky, swarms of Ledyba were dancing over the flowers. And on the ground, hundreds of Mareep were gathered in small groups, leisurely eating the green grass. Even in the lake, dozens of Quagsire had popped their heads out of the water.
The Pokémon lived in harmony, without any territorial disputes, treating this place as their common home.
This is a truly rare sight. Natsui took out his phone and, with a 'click,' permanently saved this harmonious scene.
Closing the camera, he glanced at the map on his phone again. According to the route on the map, at their current pace, after another day of walking, they would reach Violet City.
And since he had already challenged the Violet Gym, after arriving there, he would only need to make a small adjustment before they could continue to other places.
Finally caught up to the previous schedule…
Just then, Erika seemed to have discovered something and let out a soft "oh."
Natsui followed her gaze and saw, on the other side of the lake, a group of nearly a hundred Hoppip.
Remembering her purpose for coming here, before she could speak, Natsui took the initiative to smile. "What? Are you going to catch one?"
Natsui hadn't forgotten that Erika had come here to catch Grass-type Pokémon from the Johto region. Although Hoppip were very common here and not at all rare, they did not live in Kanto.
Hearing Natsui's question, Erika nodded.
"Since I've encountered them here, of course I can't miss out." With that, she was the first to walk towards the Hoppip.
Natsui followed behind her into the grassland. And seeing the two humans, the nearby wild Pokémon all looked at them with curious eyes, but that was all. They showed no panic, nor did they flee.
Clearly, although this was a wild gathering place, these Pokémon were already used to trainers appearing here from time to time.
In terms of appearance, Hoppip had a small, round, pink body, with two long, green sprouts growing from its head, like wings, looking very cute.
Usually, besides living on the ground, they would also slowly float in mid-air. From a distance, they looked like nearly a hundred red balloons.
When they reached a suitable distance, Natsui took out his Pokédex and pointed it at one of them. Pokédex: Beep. Hoppip, the Cottonweed Pokémon. A Grass/Flying type. Hoppip's body is very light and can float gently with the wind. Because it travels to various places by riding the wind, it can be seen almost everywhere except in cold places. It is said that if Hoppip appear in large numbers in the mountains and fields, it means that spring is coming soon.
After putting away the Pokédex, Natsui turned to look at Erika. He saw that she hadn't immediately gone to catch a Hoppip, but was just standing there, quietly observing something.
Natsui didn't disturb her but took a step back, leaving the stage to Erika. This was her capture battle; there was no need for him to interfere.
Beside him, Erika didn't choose a Pokémon that looked the strongest, as an ordinary trainer would. Instead, after observing for a long time, she finally set her sights on a very graceful-looking Hoppip.
When that Hoppip was alone, she then quickly walked over.
Natsui just watched from the side, watching Erika send out her Leafeon, battle and defeat the Hoppip, and then successfully catch it.
The whole process took less than three minutes. Although they were of the same type, with the strength of a Gym Leader's Pokémon, dealing with these wild Pokémon was naturally no problem. It would have been strange if the capture had failed.
When Erika returned to his side, Natsui clapped lightly.
"Congratulations. As expected of Ms. Erika, a piece of cake."
After catching a Pokémon, Erika was clearly in a good mood. Hearing Natsui's teasing, she first rolled her eyes at him, then couldn't help but laugh.
Finally, looking at the time, she said, "Alright, it's noon. Let's have lunch here."
Natsui naturally had no objections. The two left the center of the grassland, found a place with no Pokémon to disturb them, and put down their bags.
Natsui then released his many Pokémon. Having camped out countless times, these guys were already very familiar with what to do next. Without needing Natsui's command, they each went about their tasks, some fetching water, some gathering firewood, all bustling about happily.
And Erika, without a doubt, took on the role of head chef, preparing the various ingredients. Natsui helped her out, and the two worked together with great coordination. A dozen or so minutes later, a seemingly simple yet sumptuous lunch was spread out over most of the picnic blanket.
Natsui took a look. Not only was it a feast for the senses, but even the plating was quite exquisite. It could only be said, as expected of a Yamato Nadeshiko-style young lady… her cooking skills were truly excellent.
Just looking at it was enough to make one's mouth water, not to mention the appetizing aroma.
And while cooking just now, Erika had also prepared food for the Pokémon. At this moment, the two of them and over a dozen Pokémon were gathered together, all enjoying the delicious meal.
Erika's cooking was impeccable, not at all inferior to Brock's. The Pokémon were also very satisfied with such food.
Unlike with Sabrina, traveling with Erika, at least Natsui didn't have to worry about his taste buds.
And to strengthen their bond, Erika also released the Hoppip she had just caught. Seeing this, and since there was no one else around, Natsui also released his Suicune.
But just to prevent Suicune from running away, he also released the three legendary birds.
On this trip, Erika had only brought two Pokémon. Including this Hoppip, she barely had three.
Perhaps it was due to a natural affinity, but the Hoppip had a good impression of Erika. After tasting her food, it quickly accepted her and became one with her Leafeon and Tangela.
Suicune, on the other hand, perhaps out of the pride of a legendary beast, although it had been caught, still had a great deal of resistance towards Natsui.
It wanted to run away, but the three legendary birds were scattered around it, preening their feathers while also staring at it with a 'you'd better behave, little brother' look.
Seeing this, and remembering the fear of being dominated by the Triple Bird Strike, it could only reluctantly settle down and passively integrate into this big family…
