Jamila sat down after I dropped the bomb on her about including women in warrior training.
It was as if her entire world was crumbling around her.
'It's going to take a lot for the women here to accept this change, that's for sure,' I thought.
I gave her time as I finished off my bread and cheese with a cup of water.
"So you will be our commander?" Jamila finally asked.
"Hmm, yes, that's right. Though this is a learning curve for me as well," I replied,d looking straight at her as I spoke.
I wanted her to know she wasn't alone as she went into something new.
She looked back into my eyes, and I saw the birth of something. It could be ambition, desire, or a mix of both.
"Can I be your second?" She asked.
"My second? Do you know how much that will take out of you?" I asked. He'll even I didn't know how much it would cost.
"I want to do it!"
"Will you give up being an attendant?"
