My mouth was wide open in shock.
'What the hell did I just hear?'
I looked at the elder and over to the Tua Tahir, noting their solemn faces.
They weren't joking.
The commander's gaze was even more serious than I had ever seen it.
"Mia, your growth is tremendous, and you fought today with courage and great intuition. You have the makings of a great leader"
I blinked, my throat convulsing. "Me?" I said, pointing at myself.
"You will lead the women's training while I continue to train you," he said. "They will follow you. If you accept that is"
The tent seemed to close in on me. I found it hard to believe that less than a month ago, my biggest worry was groceries and nap time schedules, but now I was expected to train and lead women in this new time we have found ourselves in. It was a bit overwhelming.
