Chapter 26 - The Scorching Beast: Apo Apoy

Rain starts pouring all over Manila, and among the vehicles on the road, a dark car is moving at such speed.

Inside, the female driver is speaking while handling the steering wheel. "Yes! I have someone who lost consciousness in the middle of the road! I need everything prepared!"

She presses the screen of her tablet attached near the steering wheel. On the passenger seat, Nicholas is lying down with his eyes closed.

Later on, Nicholas is lying down on a bed inside a room with lines attached to his wrist, and a monitor is beeping as it shows his heartbeat.

Outside the room, the female driver who saved Nicholas is having a conversation with a taller young woman whose hair is brown and eyes are the same color; her skin is not that white.

"Ate Nelly, I just found him standing up from the ground."

"Then, have you found any ID, Pia?"

"What? I'm not going to check his pockets!"

"I'm just joking. I already checked his wallet. I found out that he's Nicholas Castro."

Pia turns her eyes toward Nelly, and she raises her eyebrows. "You're remembering someone, right?"

Nelly closes her eyes and takes a deep breath as she places her hands on her chest. "It's hard to retain someone you cherished knowing that person is gone."

Pia's eyes linger on Nelly in concern, and she looks away from her. "Haven't you moved on? He's gone and we know that."

Nelly didn't say a word, she just stood there until she spoke, "Tell me more about that man, any observation would do."

Pia hums as she rubs her face with her index finger. "Well... I did tell you everything."

"How weak is he?" Nelly asked.

"Geez! He lost consciousness, isn't that enough to tell how weak he is?" Pia groaned while clenching her hand.

"I'll cover up all of his expenses here." Nelly inhaled deeply.

She turns to her right side, and before she walks away, she tells Pia. "But I need you to take care of him and be the one to do all the talking when he regains his consciousness."

Pia turns her eyes toward the retreating figure of Nelly. Pia narrows her eyes a bit but they lower as she remembers something about Nelly.

"She can't even regain her happiness, let alone her heart to find someone new," Pia said before letting out a sigh.

Outside of the hospital, Nelly is sitting on a bench placed near the doors. She's holding her phone as she scrolls through her gallery.

She zooms in on the image of her and a young man who resembles Nicholas, the one with the dark hair and brown eyes.

Together, they are smiling softly in front of the camera. She inhales deeply as a tear drops from the corner of her eye.

"I still remember everything that we've been through, Nicholas. It's odd, because there's a new patient who has the same name as you."

A soft laugh emerges from her mouth as her eyes crinkle.

"After you've vanished, you still hold a special place in my heart... my heart continues to yearn for your presence every time I remember you."

Her smile remains as she shuts down her phone. "Tomorrow, I'll visit your grave."

A world where clouds rule over the sky, and the soil is filled with blue grass, and trees are abundant with nuts and fruits.

A young man is lying down on the grass, and that man is Nicholas. His eyes open, and he first feels the soft grass rubbing against his skin.

He pushes himself, sitting on the grass. He looks around, and looks up, only to see a flock of birds flying everywhere.

A gigantic eagle with light blue feathers lands beside him, and the pressure from the landing turns his eyes to the creature.

"Gale? What am I doing here?"

"Morning, my majesty. You are here in my domain to be educated about the titan that you will face."

"What titan? Wait! Do you mean, I will face the elemental beasts to gain their power?!"

Gale nods at his question. He flaps his wings lightly, and it releases visible wind around them, and the wind lifts Nicholas to his feet.

Gale looks down at Nicholas. "The one that you'll face is Apo Apoy. He's a gigantic gorilla with fur and a body that has flames that can melt everything around him."

Nicholas gulps but he shakes his head. "I'll be able to defeat him because I have powers as well."

Nicholas accumulates air on his hands, and he waves it into a sword with a long blade. He thrusts the sword into its sheath attached to his light blue belt.

"Have any more questions or information to educate me with?" Nicholas smirked.

Gale blinks before bowing down. "Nothing more, my majesty. If you are ready to face Apo Apoy, use your key to create the portal."

Nicholas opens his right hand and raises it for his eyes to see. On top of his palm, a bright light appears, and six keys of different colors appear.

The other keys vanish, leaving the red key imbued with flames. He swings the key, and a tear forms on the space beside him; widening into a tall round portal.

Gale speaks all of a sudden. "My majesty, I must warn you."

Nicholas halts and turns his eyes to Gale. "Is there something that I need to know?"

Gale didn't lift his head. "Air is weak to fire, and Apo Apoy is stronger than I in strength. I suggest that you think carefully before fighting him."

"Don't worry! I will think first! I will win this figasike I did against Fig!" Nicholas flashed Gale a proud smile.

"I don't want to lose you, my majesty," Gale spoke in his mind.

Nicholas' eyes widen as he steps inside the portal. Sweat immediately forms on his forehead, dripping quickly. He looks up and sees the sky that is so red, and bright comparable to a fire.

He clenches his fists. "It's so hot in here. It's like I'm in a volcano."

Nicholas walks on the ground made of stone, and upon looking everywhere, he sees a river flowing with lava, and silhouettes of a volcano afar.

"So, you have come to your death!"

The ground rumbles after a gigantic beast lands on it. Nicholas could barely keep standing as he was also shaken by the pressure.

He puts his finger on the side of his head, and his eyes narrow. "I can't talk to Gale!"

"Trying to call for help?" A beast stepped forward, making his appearance clear in Nicholas' eyes.

"You won't call that wind beast because your telepathic link with him doesn't hold any effect in here," the beast laughed.

Nicholas looks up, and he jumps away from the incoming gigantic fist. The impact of the punch shakes the entire ground, and Nicholas jumps again to avoid every punch.

He inhales deeply and lets out a massive twisting wind that tears the incoming giant magma.

"Amazing ability and control!" the beast laughed before slapping Nicholas away.

Nicholas groans while the slap sends him crashing against the stone mountains. The mountain bursts apart from an explosion caused by strong wind pressure.

Nicholas flies faster towards Apo Apoy and thrusts his fist covered in wind. The punch lands on Apo Apoy's abdomen, sending Apo Apoy stumbling backwards.

"I will win!" Nicholas created a massive wind sphere on top of his hand.

He sends the massive wind sphere down on Apo Apoy but flames eat the sphere as the beast's laugh echoes in the entire domain.

Nicholas' eyes shake along with his breath not until a massive fireball hits him, and a strong explosion occurs which shakes the entire landscape.

The flames from the explosion disappear, and Nicholas is seen flying while looking down at Apo Apoy with his light blue eyes. His hair is raised with light blue streaks, and his entire figure is being hugged by gentle wind pressure.

"Using that kind of power will not be enough to defeat me!" the gorilla laughed.

"You're not just strong, your pride weighs a lot than my problems," Nicholas said.

Meanwhile, at a vast field with trees surrounding it, Sebastian is holding a sword while his eyes are closed.

The bushes rustle around him, and thirty pale men come out running towards him.

Every step that they make sends different vibrations towards his skin radiating from the ground. Sebastian swings his sword cutting every pale man in pieces.

Sebastian looks down at them. "Blood made of ink. Nice assist, captain."

Nash who's standing near him smiles and flashes him a thumbs up. "No worries! I got you!"

Sebastian sits on the ground, and he removes the cap of his thumbler before drinking from it.

"You're improving very well." Nash sat beside him on the soft grass.

"You know I do," Sebastian put the lid back on the thumbler.

Sebastian hears a groan from Nash, and he turns his eyes to Nash.

"What happened?" Sebastian asked.

"It's my bird, it died. Someone killed it, I lost my surveillance over Nelly!" Nash replied while his eyes widened in shock.

"Then we need to rescue her!" Sebastian stood as his eyes narrowed, "I don't typically get worried but she's our ally."

Sebastian runs in a certain direction but everything goes slowly in his eyes, and something lands in front of him with its hazel eyes full of evil intent.

Sebastian vanishes before a warhammer hits him. He appears beside Nash and pulls out his sword from its sheath.

"Who the heck are you?" Nash stood from the ground and pulled his paintbrush from his pocket.

A giant creature walks out from the cloud of dust, and he chuckles. "Am I not that familiar, guardian?"

Sebastian narrows his eyes. "Argran, the dumb hairy foul beast. Why would I forget you?"

He turns his eyes beside him, and his eyes widen. "Where's Nash?"

Sebastian looks back at Argran, only to see Nash making humanoid creatures out of ink.

They attack Argran but he beats his chest with his large hands, releasing loud beats which shake the ground around him; all ink creatures burst apart as Nash is sent flying away.

"That is not a good move!" Argran chuckled while laughing like a gorilla.

He stops laughing and smirks at Sebastian before hanging his long warhammer on his shoulder.

LOL"Why are you here?" Sebastian asked.

Argran laughs and throws something towards him. Sebastian looks down and sees a skull, his eyes remain calm as he crouches.

"Felicia is her name, right?" Argran smirked.

"You moron, why?!" Sebastian raised his head, staring at Argran.

Argran turns around, and his face gets slapped by a large paintbrush; its ink smears on Argran's face.

"You piece of shit!" Argran multiplied his size into a giant.

Nash jumps away as he swings his paintbrush, and in the air, a giant humanoid made of ink is created.

The giant punches Argran, and Argran stumbles. Nash runs through the gap between the feet of the giant, and using his paintbrush, he creates another giant.

The other giant holds Argran's feet and slams him on the ground. Argran roars and swings his warhammer towards the giant's head, busting their head.

Argran stands up and beats his chest rapidly, shockwaves shake the entire landscape of the battlefield as it throws Nash away while Sebastian falls on his knees.

"The more size he grows, the stronger his ability becomes!" Sebastian clenched his teeth.
