Inside the mausoleum is dark, quiet, and muffled. There are unlit torches resting on sconces outside. I light one and look inside.
The mausoleum is jam-packed with undead, seemingly waiting for me to wander in and get surrounded. I purify them with turn undead, and proceed to the downward staircase on the other side.
The lower level is an underground cave with rough walls and stale air. A sickening sensation emanates from the far end. Gentle torchlight can be seen in the distance.
I reach the torchlit area. The tunnel bends to the right, opening up into a room.
A gate swirls in the far wall, revealing a vile undead on the other side.
"Who dares intrude upon my laboratory!?" Its voice is both raspy and reverberates in the walls. It points a finger at me and launches a spell. Every fiber of my being hates this spell. It is the most disgusting thing I've ever encountered. But I can't avoid it.
The spell strikes my shoulder. Nothing happens. I recall one of the prayers from my world against forbidden magical rituals. I recite the prayer, and the creature doubles over.
"What have you done to me?" it speaks in a shaky voice. It falls on the floor before it, partially emerging through the gate. "Bones, arise!"
A sarcophagus, closed until now, shakes off its stone lid. Out climbs a great sculpture of bones, none seemingly in their rightful place. It is headless, four-armed, three-legged, and hostile.
