"Why do I have to explain?" Zeiran asked, leaning against the wall.
"I don't know, maybe my hair suddenly turning white and my eyes, bloody red is definitely due to stress" Eva said with a sarcastic smile.
"If you don't calm down, you'll make things worse" Zeiran said nonchalantly
"I know this is a bad time but I really do not understand what's going on." Jayne said trying to gain both their attention.
Eva was about to speak but Zeiran's gaze changed from the usual smug and nonchalant to dead serious. No matter how many times Eva had seen that side of him, it still sent a chill down her spine as he stared at her intensively. Jayne watched them stare at each other for a while before Eva turned to her".
"Surprise!" Eva yelled. "I can't believe you fell for it." Eva said laughing out loud
Jayne looked at both of then who just turned a serious discussion to a comedy show "Now, I'm really lost."
Eva further explained "I thought about how you didn't like ancient stuff, so I called a friend here and we decided to prank you; I dyed my hair white but it looks like it won't come out any time soon and eyes has always been red and I just usually wear contacts because people thinks it's weird." Eva said, putting her hand around Zeiran and smiling awkwardly.
Jayne just stared at her trying to put all her words together "wait let me get this straight, you and him planned to prank me… so you dyed your hair white and your natural eye color is red and you wanted me to think there was some ancient supernatural phenomenon going on?"
Jayne laughed "alright, that is actually kinda funny, crazy but I like it. Anyways, I came to celebrate your birthday with you."
"wait, how do you know?" Eva asked a bit surprise, she didn't tell her it was her birthday
"I still can't believe you didn't tell me… but I found out myself, want me to explain?" Jayne asked excitedly.
Eva thought for a minute After everything she and Jayne had been through, one thing was clear; she knew things she's never supposed to know. "nah, I think I got the hint." Jayne smiled "Well, get dressed; we don't want to be late.". Eva looked up, curious "where are we going?"
"it is a surprise just get dressed I'll wait for you downstairs" Jayne said staring at Zeiran, he looked at her not understanding what she wanted from him.
She then gestured with her eyes to leave the room a long with her "Oh… you want me to leave too." Zeiran guessed, watching her body language. "No, thanks" and then he leaned his head backs on closed his eyes.
Eva cleared her throat "Ahem" and Zeiran looked up at her. Her eyes were stern and fierce. Her understood her. He reluctantly turned to the door "Fine… later princess" he said before leaving the room after Jayne opened the door for him.
A few minutes later, Eva came downstairs. Her eyes immediately fell on Jayne and then scanned for Zeiran "he left" Jayne said, noticing she was searching for him.
"Come on let's go." Jayne urged, holding Eva's hand and dragging her along.
They went to the mall first and changed their entire dressing. They laughed wearing silly clothes, went to the amusement park where they had rides and took some selfies with ice cream. Finally, they went to a restaurant.
"This is definitely my new favorite place to eat" Eva said,
"same, cheers" Jayne held her glass up in a toast
"cheers" they clinked they glass together before taking a sip each and then digging in their food.
They walked home, relaying the adventures they had together and laughing along the way
"I don't know how to thank you Jayne, this is the best birthday I have ever heard, thank you so much"
"it is no problem, you are my bestie, I would do anything for you and I will accept you just the way you are Eva, I need you to know that" Jayne smile reassuringly.
Eva looked at her and Jayne refused to meet her gaze, she pulled out something from her bag and handed it Eva, "it is your birthday gift"
Eva looked at the gift that was wrapped in purple glitter rapper, Eva took it from her and hugged her tightly, almost in tears "thank you so much"
Jayne smiled and hugged her back, they hugged for a while before they separated
"do you need a ride home, you got quite a load with you, sorry about that" Jayne gestured
"What, why will I be upset , I have all these because of you. But I might need a ride though." "good, I already ordered a taxi a while ago, it should be here in minute or so" Jayne said checking her phone.
"What about you?" Eva asked.
"don't worry, I know this place like the back of my hand and my place is just around the corner" Jayne reassured her
"Here it is" Eva pointed out the taxi that parked in front of them. She entered and they waved goodbye before parting.
Eva held all the things Jayne got for her tightly till she got home, thankfully they weren't back yet and she wouldn't have to risk Lizzy seeing it. She walked upstairs to her room and dropped them in her closet. She then took the present and dropped it on her bed, she went ahead and lock her door.
She turned around to meet Zeiran standing inches away from her, she was so startled she fell to the door for support "I'm starting to think scaring me is your hobby"
Zeiran moved closer to her, putting his hand on the door, he raised his other hand and pinched her cheek a little, he then pushed some of her ear hair and tucked it behind her ear. Eva felt her heart race and her face grew warmer.
He leaned to her ear and whispered "That… and teasing you too" then he laughed a walked a way "you are so easy to play with Princess "
Eva just stood there embarrassed, her face still burning red. She covered her face with her hand and started breathing deeply, trying to control her over excited heart rate.
She stared at Zeiran who is now sitting on the edge of her bed "Don't do that again, you got it?" She sternly earned.
"If you didn't want it, you would have pushed me away. You are act and think like the mortals do.". Zeiran said, chuckling.
Eva turned to get her gift about to open it, she stopped in her tracks after fully realizing what he said. She walked up to him and placed her hand on her hip.
"What do you mean by "I act and think like the mortals do"?" Eva asked with confusion and curiosity
Zeiran sighed deeply, bored of her cluelessness. "Do you really still need me to spell it out for you? You're a demon… one of royal blood in fact."
