Looking at his satisfied smile as he ate gave me a sense of accomplishment. His cheeks bulged as he stuffed himself full. As a Sovereign, I was expected to be a legendary figure without any weakness. It was not advisable for a Sovereign to be attached to familial feelings. But looking at his cute face, how could I not have my weakness? The only thing I could do is protect him well. He placed down his cutlery and loked at me.
"Sovereign, I received a messaged that you wanted me to accompany you to the courtroom?"
"Why? You don't want to accompany me?" I asked while squinting.
"No! It's not like that. How could I not want to go? It's an honour to accompany the Sovereign." He said hurriedly while flailing his arms as if I would react drastically if he refused.
" Good then I'll hold you to it." I smiled. He lowered his head in contemplation as if he was weighing the pros and cons of my request.
"Commander, walk with me."
Krixi walked me to the back garden which was known as the Sovereign's garden. It's the only place that was strictly guarded including my chambers.
Argent's POV
Seriously, I spent a night at this strange place but I wasn't even missing my home.
The body takes time to adapt to new changes. I used to wake up early to go to the streets. Guess I got used to it so I woke a bit earlier. I was still thinking about what happened yesterday until a knock brought me out of my thoughts. I walked to the door and opened it thinking I'd see those blue eyes but I was disappointed. It wasn't her. It was a lady in the servants dress holding some perfume bottles on a tray follow by another that held a towel.
"Lord Argent! " They bowed and Said in unison.
What was that? I mean, what form of address was that? I'm still young and has not seen the world. I want to leave a bit longer. Please don't kill me with hypertension.
"Just address me as Argent. No need with the honorific." I faked a calm laugh while saying that.
"Sorry my Lord, we were ordered by the Sovereign to adrees you as such." The one with the perfumes said.
I sighed in my heart and asked what they needed.
"My Lord, Sovereign said you should accompany her to the courtroom. We're here to get you ready. And we'll be in charge of your needs from now on."
The one with the perfumes was called Mirakeen and the other was Eithel. I went back with them and they got me ready.
From there to the drama at the dining table and now she just left without telling me what to do. I walked to the double doors and went through it. It led to an opening, something like a training field. I watched the soldiers training with their swords and bows. My hands itched and I walked towards them unconsciously.
"Hey, the kid over there, this is not a play ground. Scram." One soldier shouted and I got intimidated by his shout. I flinched and turn to leave.
"Slave boy?" I head a voice which I have an impression of. It's the guy that brought me to the commander. I still remember his rough handling and his cold gaze which seemed like it cold freeze people.
"I, I am n-not a s-lave boy." I stammered and dashed back into the Castle. I heard their infuriating and mocking laughter as I run.
What was I thinking. Will this place ever be like home? Without the protection of Serena I am as good as dead. So, what exactly was my use?
A thought struck me. My Aunty didn't hesitate to sell me. Someone I had blood relation with could do this, how sure was I that Serena will treat me better?
Silent tears pricked my eyes. A sad smile formed on my lips.
I heard foot steps coming in and cleaned my face with the sleeves of the robe I was wearing.
Serena appeared without the Commander.
"Did someone bully you?" She asked. I shook my heard. "I got something in my eyes." She look at me, not buying the excuse but she didn't insist.
"They are here. Let's go" She walked in front with her heard held high. I walked behind wishing the ground could split up and swallow me. I heard the whispers and the Sneers obviously directed at me. There was no way she didn't hear that. She paused, scanned the place and kept walking. The place became silent. Probably, she gave them a warning.
