We walked down the stairs and into the corridor. I trailed behind not wanting to draw anymore attention than I have already. She led me to a pavement and I saw a very huge carriage being pulled by strange flying beasts I have never seen before. Surprisingly, they didn't fly us instead they walked around the castle and stopped in front of a huge door.
There were a lot of guards. Serena turned to me.
"You just have to stay by the side. They won't touch you." She ruffled my hair and smiled that sweet smile that always got my ears heating up.
"Okay." I said, feeling the tips of my ears on fire
"Call me Serena." She requested.
I bowed my head even deeper and whispered her name.
"Serena!" She laughed out and stepped down the carriage which had it's doors opened already not forgetting to pinch my cheek. I blushed even harder.
I followed after her and walked into the courtroom. It had this ancient feel to it as if it has been there for ages.
There was a giant stone throne standing majestically on a raised platform. Below it was a statue of a figure with wings holding a tray on top of which lay different kinds of parchments.
Behind the stone throne stood another magnificent sculpture of a woman. Her facial features were lifelike and she had a gentle smile on her lips with her head cocked to one side. She had her arms spread wide as if waiting to hug someone.
On the sides of the raised platform stood rows of stone thrones but not as imposing as the first.
Men and women sat on them with their arms resting leisurely on the armrest. They stood and bowed to Serena when we entered.
"Sovereign"
Serena raised the staff in her hand and they raised their heads. She walked to the majestic throne and sat down with one leg over the other. Her head tilted and she spread her right hand and commanded them to sit.
Her playful and mild voice was gone even the teasing look and smiling eyes disappeared. She became a different person all together. Is this what power was like?
"Lord Argent please follow me to the side seat." A servant folded her hands in front of her and spoke in a gentle and respectful voice.
I was becoming infuriated with this honorific. Since it was bestowed upon me, I had to accept it. I nodded.
"Lead the way." She bowed and started walking.
If my friends and cousins in the mortal land saw me like this what will be their expressions?
I was led to the back of the courtroom and surprisingly, there was a courtyard there. It was covered with white silk linens with golden embroidery of different plants of nature. The view overlooked a natural lake with swines skillfully swimming in it. There were flowers of different colors and shapes and the air smelt fresh with due and natural scent of flowers.
I saw some teenagers there sitting on stone chairs and chatting. It'll look harmonious at a glance but upon a closer look, you'd find that they were very agitated.
I arrived at a place that was only legend in our conversations. Was received and treated kindly by the most powerful person there. Had no contact with any other person and all of a sudden I was sent to sit with some gaudy teenagers.
Was this a game or something?
I admit I am very timid which I know is not good in a place like this but is garnering attention the best?
I wanted to turn back on my heels or give any excuse and leave but the servant in front of me turn and gave me a questioning look. I flashed her a smile and kept walking.
"Dignified guests, the Sovereign asked me to bring you a companion." The servant bowed to us and left the courtyard.
"Good morning..." What title should I address them with?
"Hello! Slave boy. I heard the Sovereign took a liking to you?" A girl with brown her questioned. She wasn't that pretty but could pass as very beautiful in the mortal land. But in here in Lunadom, she was average looking.
"It's not surprising that the Sovereign will take a liking to me. I'm only a mortal but I think I look more prettier." From where the courage came, I had no idea but I knew I was in real trouble now.
