Previously on Hakuna, Milner High School was under attack by a colossal, Level 5 Demon, a creature of such immense size that it was likened to a Kaiju. The situation was dire, a potential catastrophe that seemed too much for the boys to handle, especially since Bodega had lost the will to even move. The tension was at its peak, and all eyes were on the prince. The question was: what would he do to deal with this unexpected occurrence?
The Rise of a Hero
The scene fades in, and the ground trembles with the demon's roar, a sound so thunderous it makes the surrounding metal structures ring with a high-pitched hum. The Level 5 Demon throws a punch at Hakuna, a massive fist of pure, unadulterated power. Hakuna manages to stop it, his muscles straining, his feet digging into the concrete. But the demon's raw strength is overwhelming.
Hakuna, feeling that he may have underestimated the demon, mutters to himself, "That's not good!"
The demon's fist pushes through his defences, forcing him to narrowly escape the crushing impact. The air rushes past him as he leaps back, a cloud of dust billowing up from the ground where he had just been standing.
"Ah, darn, my clothes are dusty..." the prince complains, dusting himself off with a casual flick of his hand. It's a moment of comic relief in a life-or-death situation.
Super, his voice filled with a desperate urgency, yells out, "Hey, dolt, get out of there!"
Hakuna, seeking vindication, taunts him. "Aww, you worried about me, Cheese Boy?"
"Get yourself killed for all I care," Super snorts dismissively, a clear attempt to mask his genuine concern with a sarcastic remark.
The demon throws another punch, but this time it's different. Instead of stopping it, Hakuna throws a punch of his own. The two fists connect with a force that creates a sonic boom. The ground rumbles, and a shockwave blows everyone else away, their bodies tossed about like rag dolls in a storm.
"Hey, that worked, haha...!" he yells out, a triumphant realization that lights up his face. It's another one of his 'Eureka' moments, a small victory in a massive battle.
"What in the world just happened?" Super voices in utter disbelief.
Enzo replies, also in disbelief, "I think Hakuna just countered..."
The demon is literally taken aback, its massive body reeling from the unexpected counter. This angers the demon, and it increases its speed, its movements becoming a blur of fury.
"Really?!" Hakuna says in sarcastic disbelief, dodging multiple attacks from the demon. Everyone is amazed at his agility and grace.
He declares, "Time to go all out! haaaAAAAA!"
A slight glow appears in Hakuna's eyes, and his speed increases drastically. He dodges multiple attacks from the demon, a dance of evasion that leaves the creature swinging at air. He leaps forward and slides on his back to the demon's underside, his arms pointing to either side of his body. As he pulls them together, a brilliant light is emitted from the ground. "KIHIMURAA!!" A huge ray of energy shoots out, a powerful blast that destroys the demon, leaving only a claw in its wake.
Hakuna pants, his chest heaving with exertion. "Well, that took some effort..."
Hakuna never stops surprising everyone with his power. They all leave as their objective was reached. The BBC gained more credibility due to Hakuna's victory, rival crews stopped baiting them for fights, and they managed to defeat a demon others could not overcome-a never-before-seen, Level 5 Demon.
A Moment of Normalcy
The next day, everyone was staring at Hakuna. Their gazes were filled with a mixture of awe and fear, almost as if they knew his family secret. The attention causes him to become more defensive, his usual calm demeanour replaced by a subtle unease.
Super chimes in, "Seems like you're a famous little dolt, huh?"
"Not funny. What's going on?" Hakuna asks, his eyes shifting with worry.
"You defeated a full Level 5 Demon by yourself, the first one ever. I wouldn't be surprised if people started staring..." says Bodega, a compliment hidden in his words.
"Honestly, it's nothing special; I just do what you guys do every day..." Hakuna says, downplaying his achievement.
Super thinks to himself, "I'm still trying to find out how you were able to keep up with Enzo. None of us even managed to stay on par with him... well, Enzo never fought me... I shouldn't worry..."
"So you really were holding back during our fight, huh?" Enzo remarks, a thoughtful look on his face.
"I never really liked fighting for fun. The only time I fight is if it has a purpose..." the prince states.
Super still thinks to himself, "Meh, meh, meh, I don't like fighting..." Show off.
The bell rings, and they head to class. On his way there, Hakuna is stopped by Master Mokoto.
"Hakuna, good morning, son."
"Good morning, sir," Hakuna replies.
"I hear you have done big things in the brief time you have been here. I'm impressed," the teacher says, a genuine admiration in his voice.
Hakuna, still downplaying the achievement, responds, "Well, it was just my duty to protect those who can't protect themselves."
"Noble as well, hmm. I look forward to what you have in store for me later today. Go on now, get to class..." Master Mokoto says, expressing his anticipation.
"Yes, sir," Hakuna says, heading to class.
Time goes by, and it's now Break Time. This is new. Hakuna has already gotten used to Break Time being about discussions or sparring matches. To his surprise, everyone is sat still and eating their lunches.
"Uhh, aren't we discussing anything today?" the prince asks, a hint of confusion in his voice.
Super, without looking at him, responds, "Not every Break Time is about talking about being more powerful than our rivals. All this power requires proper meals, too. Now get yourself something to eat and stop distracting me with your face."
Hakuna chuckles with frustration and walks to the front of the Tuck Shop, where food and snacks are sold.
There are three sets of lines which confuse Hakuna. Luckily, Rico is behind him and decides to help him.
"Prince Hak..."
Hakuna covers Rico's mouth quickly. The prince reprimands, "Hey, hold it! I don't want people knowing who I am yet...!"
"Oh, my apologies. I just don't see you as the type to stand in line..." Rico says curiously.
Hakuna, his voice low and intense, says, "There's a lot you can't even think you know about me."
"Hmm. And by the way, you're standing in the Grade 8 line, and that one is for Grade 10s over there. Those ones are the Grade 11 and 12s," Rico says, bringing Hakuna back to the present.
"Oh, thanks, uhh..." the prince attempts to reply, but Rico disappears suddenly.
"Where did he go?" he asks. Hakuna looks around, but he can't find Rico.
"Show-off..." he remarks.
Hakuna stands in line and manages to buy a Dagwood Sandwich. As he finishes his sandwich, the bell rings.
"That's the bell... wait..." Hakuna says, pausing his out-loud thinking.
Everyone looks at him with curiosity. What is he about to say? He panics. "HAAAAAAAAAAA... I forgot my timetable at home!"
They all look at him with shock. Super, somehow already knowing of this, says, "Hey, dolt, you have two free periods. I remember, and you should, too."
"Uhh...?" The prince is astonished.
Freddie comments, "Not even I remember that..."
Enzo notes, "Super never wants to remember anything. This sure is interesting..."
Super, annoyed, turns his back to them. "Grr, shut up...!" He walks away on his own.
They all stare at him, confused and speechless.
Hakuna, without a need to, chimes in, "Well, that was weird. I'll go this way, see ya!"
Hakuna vanishes, which confuses everyone even more.
A few minutes later, Hakuna arrives at Master Mokoto's classroom. He finds him sitting at his desk, and there's no one else there. Suddenly, an overwhelming pressure overcomes Hakuna.
"Darn, this feeling. Is this his power?" he thinks to himself.
"Ah, I've been expecting you, Hakuna Ntlamele..." says the teacher, being the source of this overwhelming pressure.
