----------------------------------------------------------
The next day, at the Adventurers' Guild.
After a full day of rest, Darkness and Kazuma were completely recovered. After breakfast, the group came to the guild, planning to take on a new quest.
But a disagreement appeared almost immediately.
Ais had her eyes on a quest to defeat white wolves.
White wolves were pack monsters. Their danger level was far above that of giant toads and goblins.
Kazuma strongly objected.
"Adventurers at our level can't handle white wolves. That's basically asking to die."
Emiya thought Kazuma had a point.
Just a few days ago, their enemies had been giant toads and goblins. Jumping straight to white wolves was a huge leap for Kazuma.
Even with Ais and Riveria protecting him, if Kazuma had to face a white wolf alone, he likely wouldn't stand a chance.
If he couldn't kill it, he wouldn't gain experience.
He also wouldn't be able to fairly share the reward.
Worse still, there was a real chance he could die.
Because of that, Kazuma refused to back down.
Ais, however, was unwilling to give up the quest.
She had no interest in goblin-type missions. Back in the dungeon, she had already grown tired of killing low-level monsters.
Even if she killed dozens more goblins, the experience gain would be negligible.
Without experience, she couldn't level up.
Without leveling up, she couldn't earn skill points.
And without skill points, she couldn't grow stronger quickly.
On this point, Ais would not yield.
Riveria watched the situation with a headache and glanced at Emiya.
Her reason for coming to this world was to learn more magic. And the key to that was leveling up and gaining skill points through combat.
In her heart, she sided with Ais.
But she was only here because of Emiya.
So she didn't voice her opinion and waited to see how Emiya would handle it.
After thinking for a moment, Emiya spoke.
"To be honest, this situation exists because I didn't think far enough ahead."
Everyone looked at him.
"So I plan to split the party into two groups."
"One group will be Ais and Riveria. You'll go handle higher-difficulty monsters. With your strength, that won't be a problem."
"The other group will be the rest of us. We'll proceed at our own pace."
"That's my decision."
"If anyone has objections, say them now."
Kazuma shook his head. "No objections. I think this works."
Riveria nodded. "I don't have any objections either."
Darkness hummed softly. "I'll follow whatever everyone decides."
"Good."
Emiya nodded.
"Then we'll split up. Ais, go register for the white wolf quest."
"Aqua, Kazuma, you two go find a suitable quest."
With just a few sentences, Emiya settled the matter.
Riveria walked up to him and lowered her voice.
"I'm sorry for causing trouble."
"It's not trouble," Emiya replied, rubbing his temples. "This was my oversight. I should've considered this earlier."
High-level adventurers shouldn't be grouped with low-level ones.
The gap was simply too large.
If they followed the pace of high-level adventurers, every mission would be a near-death experience for the weaker ones.
Even with protection, accidents could still happen.
But if they slowed down to accommodate the low-level adventurers, the stronger ones would stop training and turn into babysitters.
That wasn't good for either side.
Emiya had overlooked this.
Fortunately, he corrected it in time.
Even as one party, they could operate as two independent groups without interfering with each other.
That was how the Loki Familia handled cooperation between first-class and second-class adventurers.
Emiya was simply applying the same approach here.
Before long, Ais accepted the quest. Together with Riveria, she left the Adventurers' Guild and headed toward the white wolves' territory.
Aqua and Kazuma stayed behind, still searching for a suitable quest.
Emiya walked over.
"What's wrong? Haven't you decided yet?"
Kazuma stared at the quest board, pointing at two postings.
"I'm stuck choosing between these."
"Let me see."
Emiya followed his gaze.
The first quest involved exploring a nearby dungeon that had yet to be fully mapped.
The second was a subjugation mission.
For some unknown reason, undead monsters had appeared in Axel's public cemetery, causing constant disturbances. The guild was requesting adventurers to deal with them.
Emiya glanced over both.
"Which one are you leaning toward?"
Kazuma thought for a moment, then pointed to the second.
"With Aqua around, undead monsters are basically free experience."
Emiya considered it.
Kazuma wasn't wrong.
Aqua was the Goddess of Water, and after changing her class to Arch-Priest, her exorcism magic was absurdly powerful.
Ghosts and zombies stood no chance.
Even a lich would struggle to survive if Aqua took action.
In the original story, the lich Wiz had been purified by Aqua more than once.
"Then we'll take the second one," Emiya decided.
Since undead monsters usually appeared at night, the group stayed at the Adventurers' Guild until the afternoon before setting out.
Before leaving, Emiya spoke to the counter attendant.
"If my two companions return first, please tell them we went to deal with the undead. They should head back to the villa directly and not wait for us."
Luna nodded. "Understood. I'll pass the message along."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome. It's part of the job."
After leaving the guild, Emiya's group rode their electric scooters to a hill outside Axel.
Cremation wasn't common in this world. Burial was the norm.
As a result, this hill had become a public cemetery for those without money or family.
By the time they arrived, dusk was already approaching.
They set up a tent near the cemetery.
Then they waited.
For night to fall.
