Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11 : REID

Tension fills the air as the elevator descends, my heart getting heavier by the second. We all have our hands behind our back. Whether that is a coincidence or a sign of worry is yet to be known. The elevator finally comes to a halt, almost taking my patience with it. It opens to reveal a dark grey room with proper lighting along the ceiling edges and a minimalistic standard chandelier in the center. There's lot's off space, no doubt what that is used for and the floor has some soft sort off padding to it. Like a sparring mat, one that is easy to clean and drag bodies off one might add. There's a semi-circular wide spread table in the center of the room, the bottom part being made of cedar and to a keen eye fitted with lots of compartments no doubt for weapons. And the top part of it is made of what appears to be glass but is actually diamond since it doesn't break easily and is also not easily affected by magical abilities.

And to think it all somehow appears so welcoming, as if they will sit us down and offer us juice. I slowly take my time looking at everyone seated before us. The commanders are a total of four of the most lethal ability wielders in Meridian. V. Warden, the V being veil spinner. He can manipulate what you see, bend light and actually shape shift, and also literally manipulate how you will respond to what he makes you see . He's right at the center. To the right there's A. Telena. An arcanist. Their primary power is basically to rouse information out of people but its evolved to mind manipulation. They can look into your mind for information and manipulate your mind to get information out of you but they can't permanently alter your memories or coerce you into doing something other than their purpose.

"Ah, long time no see....son." And that voice I have undeniably feared for years would be the one and only K. Riveka senior. My dad. He's a kylte too but he's more limited to nature but none the less dangerous, he can manipulate all naturally occurring earth resources to be of use to him. Like terrifyingly actually suck the air out of your lungs with a flick of his wrist. "Hello father." I say back dryly. Then to the left of Warden we have E. Teiris. An emberwright. She appears rather terrifying, people say since half of her face is burnt and scarred beyond recognition but the other half is just fine, except for her piercing grey eyes, a menace to be reckoned with. She wields fire. That much is certain, but the scale of its what's got her on this board and terrifies me as well, and also the other half of her face so I'd rather not know.

"K. Riveka Junior, A. Lard and D. Larcan." Warden starts. I salute first, then so do Garth and Ameira respectively as we were called. "Let's get started shall we?" he says. We all salute him and take our seats.

"Okay, we honestly don't have time to waste. Any suggestions on what to do?" Teiris asks

"A good way to start would be to add reinforcements. Securing the town perimeters. Just incase because we do not know what approach they will take." I state. Warden nods and takes "Well according to my sources a Sterei has already been captured on its way. And Reinforcements have already been fixed around the area. anything else?"

"I propose that Larcan portal her to a safe house." My father says and my heart almost skips a beat. And what will they tell her after that? "I think that we should wait until her memories start resurfacing so that we can take such action. It seems that with forms of her power starting to manifest again, she might be a bit unstable. We don't know how she will react to this." They take into consideration for a second. "I think she is of more harm to that town when she's there. She's literally a walking target" Telena says. Is she insane, she is the victim here! "I'm sorry how is she of danger to the town?" Warden shoots me a look after I ask that. But I keep my focus on Telena.

"Well because as you said she's unstable." She shoots back. "I beg to differ." I drawl and my father calmly rests his hand on the table. "Need I remind you that we are not dealing with some random magical creature here, she was a mage Riveka. She is way more powerful than any of us think." He says. "And that's why I'm on her case. Because if it does happen she gains everything back I can match her ability." I argue. The room goes silent as they all think. "I think that K. Riveka here might be a little to involved with the assignment." Teiris states as she leans into the comfort of her chair and intertwines her fingers.

The other members of the board seem to be in agreement with her. Did she just call Reika an assignment? I feel like I've been lit on fire but I shove the emotions down and take a deep breath. "Kindly with all consideration, I think that we should wait till she gets all her memories back. If she decides to fight us then I'll be there and given my ability I can overpower her. If not then you can send Cal in, her ability will also help." I say. The room falls silent. "We will consider what to do for now the three of you can depart." My heart almost drops to my stomach. oh fuck them, they need me. Or maybe I need..... I shut down the thought before I can finish it.

We all get up and make our way to the exit. I feel a surge of air current around me, courtesy of my father. I flick my wrists and I reverse the currents toward him as I channel his abilities, then using a swirl of my fingers I raise the water in his glass above him and clench my hand into a fist. This separates the water into many water droplets and freezes them into small tiny frost shards. I'm about to snap my fingers and drop them down when Teiris lets out a flame from her fingers that instantly melts them. "Good to see you still got it son." He says and I ignore his comment. "We'll let you know the decision we come to." Warden states and we continue our way out.
