HARPER
I groaned out loud, walking towards the car in the lot. My neck ached from bending countless times to stare at the fine print, and my eyes were strained.
Then, there were my legs. I stood for so long that my toes and the back of my heels felt like they might peel off in my stilettos.
I staggered back, feeling a hand pressed into my forehead, then another held my wrist to steady me. I blinked up in surprise, locking my gaze with…Mr David Blooms!
My heart lurched, and I quickly pulled my hand away from his, flushing. I took a step backward.
"What are you doing here?" I murmured.
He didn't answer me. Instead, his eyes moved up and down my body in a way that made me feel uncomfortable, then he closed the space between us and clutched my tag, still around my neck.
"Harper Fletcher, Senior Biochemical Engineer. You work for GenVanta now." He said.
I couldn't tell if he was asking me or just making a statement, but I nodded regardless.
