Mercy had its place. Weakness did not.
"I brought you something," he said.
Her brows lifted faintly.
"But you are not wearing it yet. I just want to be sure it fits."
"What's that?"
Eric held her gaze before reaching into his pocket. He withdrew the small box.
He opened it.
The diamond caught the light instantly.
His eyes lifted to Sera's. His fingers reached for her hand.
He slid the ring gently toward her finger, eyes never leaving hers.
"It's beautiful…" Sera breathed.
The diamond settled against her skin. It fit perfectly.
Eric had known it would. He did not want to take it off. He closed his fingers around her hand instead. "You're beautiful." He lifted her knuckles to his lips and kissed them slowly, his mouth lingering against the cool edge of the ring before brushing her skin.
Then he pulled her closer.
