The large gate cracked open as the royal carriage rode into the surrounding, coming to a halt at the palace of Valeria. The coachman jumped down from his seat and walked to the side of the carriage, opening the door. Alexander took a deep breath before climbing off the carriage, his dark boots coming in contact with the damp ground. The atmosphere appeared moist, a cool gentle breeze blew, carrying the smell of rain with it.
The coach man quickly moved the other side of the carriage as he opened the door, stretching his gloved arm out to her, to which Amelia held, stepping off the carriage. It was her first time in king Alexander's palace and indeed it was large. Even though she couldn't see much, with the little she could make out in the dark, she could tell Alexander's palace was a beautiful one. There were fire torches hung on every wall of the palace, brightening up the place.
Arthur who was standing stiffly at the main entrance, walking towards his king. He held a black umbrella in his hand. "Your Majesty, welcome back," he greeted with a deep bow, his gaze travelling from the king to the person behind the king. His eyes narrowed as he wondered who she might be.
"Arthur!" Alexander exclaimed before glancing behind him, his face betraying none of his thoughts. "Allow me to introduce to you Arthur, my advisor and this is Princess Amelia of Greenville, I am certain you must have heard of her before." he simply announced, his eyes fixed on Arthur.
Arthur's eyes widened in shock but was quick to regain his composure. The Princess of Greenville had accompanied the king to the Vampire kingdom, he said to himself. "Your Highness, Welcome to the royal palace of Noct. It is a pleasure to finally meet you." he finally greeted with a curt bow as he quickly stepped to her side to ensure she was covered by the umbrella, shielding her from the drizzle.
"Thank you for your kindness Sir Arthur". Amelia responded with a polite smile, her heart racing as she noticed Arthur come to stand by her side. He is indeed a fine man.
"It is late and I assume Princess Renata is tired from the long journey, see to it that she is properly rested and taken care of," Alexander said to Arthur, he was getting bored of everything.
"I will do so Your Majesty,"
Alexander turned on his heels, he was about to leave when he heard the princesses voice.
"Thank you for your kindness Your Majesty" She said out loud, even though she wanted to spend more time with the king, she knew it would not be possible as she was exhausted and in need of a hot bath and good food. "Good night," She whispered but loud enough for the king to hear.
Alexander didn't say anything, instead he turned to Arthur. "Come to my study when you're done." he said before walking away.
"I will," Arthur replied, making his way through the main entrance with the princess trailing beside him.
From the corner of his eyes, Alexander noticed something moving at the window of the third floor. His eyes raised to meet a pair of green eyes and before he could react, silhouette disappeared behind thick burgundy curtains. Alexander didn't need to guess to know who the person was, He still didn't know what of use she would be in the palace but for now, she should stick being his pet.
He had planned to see her immediately he arrived but she would have to wait as there were other pressing issues he had to deal with. He strode slowly into the palace and towards his study, his heels clicking against the marble tiles, breaking the complete silence and stillness in the hallway.
The door cracked open as he stepped inside and closed the door behind him, Alexander walked over to his chair and settled into it, allowing his head to rest on the top of the chair, a deep sigh escaping his lips as he closed his eyes enjoying the silence surrounding him. Before he could fully enjoy the silence, the door swung open, allowing Arthur to step into the study.
Even without opening his eyes, Alexander already knew it was Arthur who stepped into the room, being a royal blood Vampire had it's peaks and that was one of it, he didn't need to look before he knew who was around his space.
"Your Majesty, you asked for me,"
"Is the Princess taken care of?" Alexander asked, his eyes still closed.
"Yes she is, I sent a maid to bring her dinner and attend to her other needs," Arthur responded.
"Good, tell me, what information do you have on the rogue we have?" Alexander asked.
"I believe for now, we're still waiting on what Derrick would bring, he still hasn't gotten back." Arthur replied. "Hopefully by tomorrow, he'll bring news we can work on."
"Well, that is good because I really do not want to deal with another engagement to please any other king," His fingers ran through his hair.
"Engagement? Is that why she is here? You are going to wed the princess?" His eyes widened. He wasn't shocked by the wedding but was shocked that The King actually accepted.
"I would rather rip my eyes out that marry that princess."
"Seriously Alexander? Rip your eyes? The princess is not that bad," Arthur said, his arms crossed over his chest.
"Even if I magically want to take a bride, definitely not her, she can't even look into my eyes for a second." Alexander said.
"And yet you keep Serena in your room, she's equally shy, mind I say you are already falling for the girl," His lips tipped up to what appeared to be almost a smile.
Alexander opened his eyes. "I am incapable of falling in love, Arthur, you of all people should know that." He said calmly.
"Sure, Sure your majesty." Arthur said with a hint of sarcasm. Though he knew it was true, The king hasn't fallen for anyone but he has a feeling that there's someone out there who would make the king fall in love.
"Perhaps I should give you the princess, you both would make a lovely couple." The King said, he stood up from his chair and walked towards Arthur, he watched as Arthur stumbled upon his words.
"I'm sorry your majesty but I have to reject, the princess in so not my type." Arthur coughed out his words. What was the king thinking.
"What's your type then?, all these years I have not entirely seen you with a woman," He inquired. Arthur stepped back a bit. Is the king drunk? It's rare to see him behave like this.
"I'm too busy to care about that, when the time comes I'll find a woman but not now." He paused. "Alexander you should worry about yourself and not me, Noct needs their queen, as much as you hate this topic it'll be a matter of time before your father starts pressuring you." He added.
"Noct is perfectly fine the way it is, they will be happy with or without a queen. Spare me the lectures Arthur, you sound like a nagging mother." He said sarcasm lacing in his voice.
"If you say so." Arthur said.
"I'm tired, I'll retire to my chambers." Alexander said, he tapped on Arthur's shoulder before walking out of the study.
