"Ngh…"
It's hot. So stifling…
"Haa, haa."
He turned his body to his right, tightly clutching onto his shirt.
Why the fuck is it so hot? Dammit.
His head ached, it felt as though his mind was spinning from the extreme heat his body was exuding.
"Ugh…"
Everyone said he was groaning in pain the past three days he had a fever, but he couldn't remember any of it. This is the first time he experienced it for himself while conscious.
"Haa, haa…"
He couldn't stop panting from the heat. He had already taken off as many clothes as he could remove, but it was not getting any better.
Somebody… anybody, please…
At that moment, he was willing to do anything to relieve the pain. Unfortunately for Baek Haemin, the fever lasted for another two days with no one being able to help him.
The people at the Baek manor tried to help him as much as they could, but there was only so much they could do. After that, the heat started to mellow down and he could now move normally without feeling too warm.
He spent the next five days resting and was not allowed to come out of his bedroom during that time. The servants and maids forbade him from doing so, saying that it was a strict order from his older brother.
Even Jiwon firmly asked him to stay put.
A yawn escaped from Haemin's mouth in the afternoon.
"Hey, Jiwon-ah. Can't I go out? Just once, yeah?"
"You cannot, young master."
Jiwon only shook her head.
Her young master's lips protruded forward with his face scrunched up. Jiwon had to look away even with her shoulders shaking, trying to stop herself from adoring her young master too much.
During those days, Baek Raehwan came barging in again on his own. One time, however, he came with lots of gifts.
"Minmin-ah! Hyung is here!"
Raehwan clasped his hands together in joy as the servants brought the presents.
They varied from expensive clothes, jewelry, and dungeon items that the old Baek Haemin apparently liked.
Baek Haemin's brow twitched when he saw the sparkles on the clothes, down to the jewels that came paired with it.
What is this? Why is this so shiny?
Raehwan leaned into him with pure joy on his face.
"I did good, right? I picked it exactly the way you wanted it! How is it? "
I mean, it's not too bad, but…
"I, it's unique."
He chose to respect the original Baek Haemin's fashion sense, which was completely different from his own. The old Baek Haemin always wanted his attire to be sparkly, making everyone eye him everywhere he goes.
Meanwhile, Baek Seungho's taste is more simple. Prioritizing on blending with everyone else, rather than being at the center of attention.
Just how much did he spend on this?
Boxes piled up in his room, creating a mountain of presents. He glanced at the door, only to see servants bringing in more.
His knuckles cracked behind his back as he tried his best to smile at Baek Raehwan.
I feel like I'm about to get a stomachache…
Other times, he visited to join Haemin for a meal. He brought some food insisting that it was something he liked.
Freshly-made mango smoothie, mango pudding, mango mousse cake, mango sorbet, mango parfait.
Why is everything mango?
Haemin's brows creased as he glanced at Baek Raehwan who had his chin resting on his hands with a huge smile on his face.
He obviously does not know what the real Baek Haemin's taste buds are like, but he could take a rough guess now.
When he first arrived in this world, the thing that the servants served him most was mango juice. They kept on offering him that drink each chance they got.
Why haven't I noticed it til now?
Baek Raehwan looked at him as if he were expecting to see him eat the food he brought happily. Haemin sighed, lamenting about how he's going to spend the next few hours in a toilet.
He grabbed the dessert spoon made out of sterling silver.
"Thank you… for the food."
"Mmh, mmh. My Minmin, enjoy."
Raehwan flashed a smile at him from the other side of the table.
Haemin heavily gulped down the cake, clearly pressured by how bright Raehwan's smile was. He took one bite of each dessert, trying them all as much as he could.
He didn't hate mangoes before this, but he told himself not to eat them for a while after.
My tongue feels so numb, ugh.
During his alone time, he spent it chatting with the system. He took a look at the reward he got last time at the dungeon.
[1x Gacha Ticket]
"Hmm…"
Haemin tapped at the desk twice before stopping.
"I don't understand. Why did the gacha come out only now? You said I gained access to it, but what do you mean? What's the condition for unlocking it? Is it the defeat of an SS-Rank monster?"
He looked at the system suspiciously.
Ding!
[System:
Answer. The Gacha system unlocks when the user has more than 5 available points.]
"Ah! I see. So that's how it is."
His fingers snapped at the explanation.
I think I do kind of remember that the access message came out after the 5 points reward. That's how you unlock it, huh?
He's not too entranced at the idea of gacha, but he also did not mind it. From all the experience he had in his past life as Baek Seungho, almost everything you get from a gacha was trash or useless.
Haemin tapped the gacha ticket and said,
"Shall I use it now?"
He clicked the gacha button on the corner of the system.
[Gacha]
[...]
[We can do it!]
[Let's Attack!]
[I am the Star!]
[Let's Defend!]
[I'm proud of you.]
[...]
"Pfft–! Buwah!"
He spat out laughing in the air when he read the so-called drops in the gacha system.
"What the heck's with your naming sense? Seriously, ha ha! Pfft!"
He touched his stomach as he continued chuckling while pointing at the system. The system did not move for a moment before sending another message.
[System:
…just do it.]
But the message only made him giggle more.
"I, I got it. I got it. Pfft, ha ha. Seriously, why are the names like that? Aren't you embarrassed?"
[System:
I'm going to close it.]
"No, no, wait. Hold up, hold up, okay? Ha ha, I was kidding, you brat."
He wiped the tear in the corner of his eyes before asking,
"Alright. How do I use this? Let me start now."
Ding!
[Spin]
A button came out of nowhere below the gacha and he didn't hesitate to click it. The gacha rumbled for a few seconds, mimicking a digital spinning wheel on online games before stopping.
Ding!
The system gave out the chosen drop, making Haemin frown at it as he leaned closer. His lips pushed forward before he tilted his head, an expression that shows complete perplexion.
He clicked the item to check, but was only left dumbfounded once again when he read the description.
"What the fuck am I going to do with this?"
As expected, he got nothing but trash.
