Flying?
Gran studied Bulma carefully once again.
Just as he had expected—Bulma had merely adapted to the power within her body. Like most extraterrestrials, she lacked absolute control over her strength.
But…
Bulma wasn't a martial artist, so that wasn't really an issue.
"Didn't you ask Whis?" Gran asked.
He walked beneath the parasol in the courtyard and sat down. A teapot rested on the small table beside him.
Bulma trotted over, looking pitiful as she complained,
"He and Lord Beerus went off to eat gourmet food. They said they didn't have time for me."
Gran chuckled softly.
That fit those two perfectly.
"Honestly, if you brought Whis a type of food he's never eaten before, he'd definitely teach you."
Gran poured himself a cup of tea, offering advice to the girl.
"Forget it. I still think it's better if Lord Gran teaches me."
"..."
Gran took a sip of tea and said helplessly,
"You have an angel right next to you and don't even know how to use that advantage. You really are a bit foolish."
"I'm not foolish at all! Gran, please teach me~"
Bulma's voice turned sweet and coquettish.
"Stop. Stop. Stop."
Gran instantly got goosebumps and hurriedly interrupted her.
"Fine, I'll teach you."
He had already promised to fulfill two of her wishes anyway—this was no big deal.
"Thank you, Lord Gran!"
Bulma's excitement flushed her cheeks red.
"Then let me ask you this," Gran said.
"Have you sensed your ki yet?"
"Ki?"
"The surging power inside your body."
Gran set his teacup down and stepped out from under the parasol.
He raised one hand.
A tiny white point of light appeared in his palm—and in the next instant, it expanded rapidly.
One meter.
Two meters.
…
One hundred meters!
A ki blast with a diameter of a hundred meters materialized in the sky above the courtyard. The sheer power rippling through the air caused space itself to tremble faintly.
Bulma's mouth fell wide open.
"See? That's ki."
With a casual wave of Gran's hand, the massive ki blast vanished instantly.
"Hey! I didn't even get a good look at it! It's gone already?"
"That was divine ki. You can't sense it," Gran explained.
"I just wanted to give you a direct impression of what ki looks like."
He stepped beside Bulma and rested his palm on her shoulder.
"Now—focus. Feel what ki really is."
As he spoke, a divine aura flowed from his hand, instantly enveloping Bulma.
"This feeling…!"
Bulma felt warmth spreading through her body. It was incredibly comfortable.
"Ki can be described as power, but it's also the very foundation of life," Gran said calmly.
"The ki I just transferred to you is enough to sustain your basic vitality."
Gran returned to the tea table.
What he had just given Bulma was somewhat similar to the ki Son Goku gave Frieza at the end of the Namek arc.
Without that ki, Frieza would never have survived Namek's explosion—
and there would have been no Mecha Frieza afterward.
Of course, the ki Gran gave Bulma was divine ki, something she couldn't consciously perceive.
But it would stimulate the ki already within her body.
That way, she could clearly feel her own ki.
"Measured in battle power, your ki is already around ten thousand," Gran said.
"That's extremely strong. Focus on this sensation."
He lifted his teacup again and took a slow sip.
Bulma's situation was different from Videl's, so the teaching method naturally had to be different.
Bulma glanced at Gran, then at herself.
She was surrounded by a mysterious white aura she couldn't sense directly.
Yet she could clearly feel a warm current within her body—her own ki—being stirred into motion.
And so, time passed.
Gran reclined lazily on a beach chair, while Bulma focused on sensing her ki.
Half a day went by.
The sky gradually darkened.
Beerus, Whis, and little Broly finally returned, their bellies round and full—clearly having enjoyed a great meal.
When they entered the courtyard, they immediately noticed Bulma sitting cross-legged on the lawn.
Beerus and Whis instantly understood what she was doing.
She was sensing ki.
The three of them didn't disturb her and instead headed toward Bulma's dining hall.
They were already full, so they weren't going to eat—
they were going to find Gran.
Inside the dining hall.
Gran sat alone, eating dinner.
"You went to see that kid during this time, didn't you?" Beerus asked as he sat down beside him.
"Mm."
Gran's mouth was full of food, so his reply came out muffled.
Beerus's forehead twitched.
Can't you finish chewing first?
"How's he doing?"
"He's currently"
Seeing Gran about to speak again with puffed cheeks, Beerus cut him off helplessly.
"Finish eating first."
Gulp.
Gran swallowed and replied calmly,
"Kakarot is still laying his foundation."
Hearing this, Beerus and Whis both nodded.
Only with a solid foundation could future achievements truly soar.
"According to our plan," Beerus said seriously,
"we estimate it'll take you five years to cultivate Destruction Power to the level of rules."
"After that, we'll have that old guy in the Kaiōshin Realm unlock your potential—"
Before he could finish—
Gran's eyes widened.
"Unlock my potential?"
In the anime, Son Gohan entered a Mysterious State after the Old Supreme Kai unlocked his potential.
That state was extraordinary.
It carried none of the emotional instability of Super Saiyan forms,
nor did it impose heavy physical strain.
It could be described as an alternative normal state.
And yet
That very state allowed Gohan to wield power equal to—or greater than—his Super Saiyan transformations without transforming at all.
Absurdly powerful.
"Whis," Gran frowned suddenly,
"didn't you say training shouldn't rely on external forces?"
That was precisely why he had never asked the Old Supreme Kai to unlock his potential.
"It's different," Whis shook his head.
"What I meant by external forces are powers that must be maintained by outside means."
"For example, Broly needing Super Shenron's power to maintain his sanity—that's external."
"As for the power unlocked by the Old Supreme Kai," Whis continued,
"it's like the power Saiyans gain after recovering from the brink of death."
"Both are inherently your own."
"And more importantly"
"The Old Supreme Kai's potential unlocking has no side effects whatsoever."
Hearing this, Gran stood up abruptly, his eyes blazing with excitement.
If Whis said so, then the Mysterious State was absolutely viable.
Which meant
His state combination needed to be revised.
It had to become:
Divine Dimension + Ultra Instinct + Mysterious State!!
Because the Mysterious State was an alternative normal form
it could absolutely be layered on top of Ultra Instinct!
