Ethan moved through the forest like a speeding car on a highway. His body was quickly adapting to the area, almost as if he had been living in the forest his whole life.
" This is awesome!" He exclaimed with excitement. He had never ran at such quick speed and hadn't moved in such a way, ever. So it seemed unbelievable that he was actually able to move like this in such a complicated space!
" This is nothing, child. Once you've connected to your stream, your physical abilities would increase exponentially. You would truly be supernatural then," Amon spoke with pride as he recalled how he first felt when he became a newborn. He could see his younger self in Ethan, and that's why he knew.
* The hardships are soon to come boy.*
••••
Soon, Ethan arrived at the foot of a fairly large hill. At the top of the hill stood a majestic and old looking oak tree.
The tree was incredibly large, almost as if nothing in the world could cut it down.
" Alright, we're here," he said, as he took in a deep breath and ran up the hill, and in no more that fifteen seconds, he had already arrived at the top of the hill, right at the foot of the tree.
" Look up to the sky Ethan..." Amon slowly emerged out of Ethan's body, his fur like stars glistening under the light of the moon.
He looked up to the moon and sighed, then smiled. This was the first time Ethan was seeing Amon smile to such an extent. It seemed... genuine.
" It's been a long time my love," he said, as another sigh escaped the lips of the demon wolf. As if in response to Amon's voice, the moon light grew brighter, concentrating it's power on he and Ethan.
But Amon only frowned at this. He was no longer with a body, and so he is unable to feel the energy of the moon, only with a body could he do so.
* It seems he really misses his connection to the moon. He looks like a lover separated from his mate,* Ethan thought with a solemn nod of his head. It was rare to see Amon in such a state, so he understood to an extent how Amon felt.
" Hey, Amon, who did it. I mean, who killed you? A god?" Ethan asked curiously. He had been inquisitive about this for a while now, but hadn't had the right opportunity to ask it. Although the atmosphere seemed heavy at the moment, he felt like it was the best time for talking right about now.
" No, child. It is not time for you to know. I shall reveal to you what had happened, but now, you mustn't concern yourself with little things. Right now, we must focus on your Awakening," Amon said calmly, hiding away the sadness in his eyes as quickly as they came.
Seeing that he didn't want to talk about it, Ethan didn't pursue the matter and just decided to focus on what he had here at hand.
" Sit child, it is time to absorb moonlight!"
" Absorb moonlight? You mean like cultivating?" Ethan asked, referencing Amon's words to the novels he had read.
" I suppose you could call it that. But still, I have to teach you how to do it either way," Amon spoke nonchalantly, as if what he said wasn't a big deal.
But it was!
It was a really big deal. Ethan had always wanted to feel like the main character in a fantasy novel, so hearing that he was going to do something like cultivation made him feel excited.
" Alright, enough with your excitement, let us get to work,"
•••••
" Now, since you have the blood of a god in your body, it should be easier to connect to the moon and absorb it's light, but that isn't the main reason why were doing so.," Amon explained.
" It isn't? Then why? What's gonna happen if I absorb moonlight?" Ethan asked curiously, his mind expanding to hold in all of this information.
" For the first time a supernatural beasts absorbs moonlight, they would begin to feel the movement of WorldStreams around them, causing them to enter a trance like state that would lead them to their destined stream," Said Amon as clearly as he could.
" Hold up a sec, what are these WorldStreams you've been talking about?"
"World streams? Well, a world stream could be seen as a source of power for every supernatural, if they lose their connection to the stream, or run out of moonlight energy to keep the connection stable, then that supernatural would be no different from it's conter part natural animals," Amon explained, as he moved his consciousness through Ethan's mind and memories so as to be able to explain it to him better, through his own language.
" So basically they're power sources for mythical creatures,"
" Yes, I suppose that's the basic summary of things then," Amon spoke plainly," now then, let's get you connected to your stream,"
" So what do I do other than sitting?"
" Close your eyes, and listen to me. I'll try my best to use your memories to make me understand how to speak to you and get you properly prepared," the wolf replied, his voice lowering close to something more of a whisper.
Heeding Amon's words, Ethan closed his eyes and perked his ears up to listen properly.
" Feel the wind brushing against your face. The scent of trees and grass. Your connection to nature deepening with every breath you exhale,"
Taking in a deep breath, Ethan began to feel his surroundings. The air was cool and warm at the same time, giving him the feeling of comfort that he desperately needed.
The grass he was surrounded by, rustled in harmony, like the rhythm of guitar strings played together.
He felt his body relaxing in that moment. The space of security and peace, he so dearly needed was found. Right here in the forest, nature had become his shelter.
" Feel the light of the moon illuminating not just your body, but your entire life, as it guides and shows you the way in times of darkness and peril,"
He felt safe.
Calm.
Peaceful.
" Now visualize yourself a sponge, and as a sponge that soaks up water, you soak up moonlight. You take in energy from your surroundings to fuel your core with power!"
He could feel it. The energy from the moon, slowly seeping into his body, as his entire being hungrily consumed it and turned it into raw power under his command.
" Your body has done what it needs to, now your soul must continue the work. Your soul, must open it's eyes to the streams of the world. The strings tying the order of power in one complicated essence,"
He opened his eyes.
But he was no longer on the hill. He was somewhere else. Dark, silent, and familiar!
Boom!
Different colours of energy burst forth from the darkness, as things that seemed like threads coiled around him, seemingly requesting he chose them.
These string's were streams. Worldstreams, the very essence of power itself. The core of everything powerful, even god.
He raised his hands to pick one of them, when he heard a voice calm out.
" Do not chose just anyone. You shall know it when it comes," Amon's voice reassured him, reminding him that he didn't come here for just any power.
Soon, time seemed to pass here differently, as minutes passed, then hours, days, months, and he still hasn't found his stream.
Frustration bubbled within him with every passing second. If this continues for a few more months, he would probably run mad.
Amon's voice would come to speak to him once In a while to reassure him that he was fine, and he also knew that the stream worlds' time works on a different time frame.
So although months had passed here, only a few minutes had gone by in the real world.
There!
He felt a tight pull in his chest. A blue stream settled in at the far end corner of the world, it stood beside a crimson one, and his chest pulled even tighter.
" That's it! That's definitely it! That's the werewolf stream!" His body dashed through the dark world, zooming past a multitude of streams, and in a few seconds, he arrived in front of the blue stream.
*it's now or never. There's no turning back!* With his resolve, he grabbed the string and everything turned white.
Zwap! Boom!
The world collapsed.
•••••
Back in the real world!
••••••
Ethan slowly opened his eyes, his mind hazy and unclear as to what was happening.
" Ethan, are you alright, did you get it. Did you find the stream?!" Amon asked immediately, not even letting the boy to have a second of breather.
But Ethan didn't respond. His eyes and face just stayed black, like his soul was gone.
" Aaaahhg!" A sudden scream escaped his lips, as hisind crumbled. He stood up and yelled again, fist clenching his hair as he stepped back continuously.
" Ethan? Ethan? Child!" Amon called out, but it was useless, he didn't respond to anything.
" Awooo!" Ethan's body slowly began to change, his eyes turning black as his body grew to a size twice the height of an average man.
" No! He's changing! But that's too early!" Amon exclaimed in surprise and shock. He hadn't expected this too happen.
Suddenly, Ethan became a full blown werewolf/ Lycan( for those of you who think there's a difference)
" Awooo!"
" Bad, bad, bad. Something has gone terribly wrong!"
