"Larvitar! Use Dig to dodge!"
On the battlefield, Steelix roared, its cold, metallic tail gleaming as it brought it down heavily toward the little nose-scruncher in front of it.
Just before the Iron Tail struck, Larvitar cried "Yo-mo!" and burrowed into the ground.
Iron Tail missed, leaving only a small hole where Larvitar had been.
"BOOM!!!—"
Suddenly, the ground beneath Steelix broke open. Larvitar's small body shot out, slamming its head right into Steelix's body.
"GAAAAH!!"
Steelix cried out in pain.
"Stomping Tantrum!"
"Yo-mo!!—"
Larvitar twisted its body in the air and stomped down hard.
"THUD!!!—"
A huge, muffled sound rang out. Larvitar's tiny body possessed massive energy.
Steelix, already weakened by three rounds of Screech, could no longer hold its stance. With a final roar, it collapsed, losing its ability to battle.
"Excellent work, Larvitar," Kenji praised, providing emotional affirmation the moment Steelix fainted.
"Yo-mo!!—"
Larvitar turned around, its expression excited.
Larvitar rarely had opportunities for actual combat, and its victory over Steelix left it immensely thrilled.
Suddenly, a white light erupted from Larvitar's body.
Kenji rejoiced. Is it finally happening? After more than two months, Larvitar was finally going to evolve.
On the other side, Goro recalled Steelix and watched the scene in surprise, moving closer to Kenji to watch the evolution.
The Evolution Light gradually faded, and a Pokémon covered in a hard, grey-blue shell, with only a pair of large eyes visible, appeared before Kenji and Goro.

Pupitar's large eyes, with mostly white sclera and a small red pupil, cried out. Then, with a whoosh, Pupitar shot into the air like a skyrocket.
It was Pupitar compressing gas inside its shell and propelling itself with the reaction force.
The next moment, Pupitar reversed direction, its head pointing down. With a dull thud, it slammed back onto the ground, blasting a large crater into the arena floor.
"Pupitar, stop!" Kenji frowned slightly, keenly sensing that Pupitar's current state was unstable.
"P-Pupitar..."
A look of struggle and agitation crossed Pupitar's eye.
"Come out, Arbok."
For his and Goro's safety, Kenji immediately called out Larvitar's former boss, Arbok.
"Chaa." Arbok emerged from the Pokéball and immediately slithered over, rubbing against Kenji.
"Now is not the time for affection," Kenji said, patting Arbok's head and pointing at the raging Pupitar. "Go calm down your little brother."
"Chaa?" Arbok was puzzled. My little brother? Why is he a big chunk of steel?
Arbok approached with suspicion, unable to connect the creature before it with the Larvitar it knew.
Pupitar was extremely agitated. As Arbok approached, Pupitar reacted defensively. With a whoosh, it shot out again.
But this time, its target was Arbok.
"CHAA!!" Arbok's eyes flashed cold. Without hesitation, it whipped its tail, sending an Iron Tail strike out that knocked Pupitar flying.
Arbok was not a good-tempered Pokémon when attacked. It immediately chased after Pupitar, delivering a merciless beating.
Tyranitar, the so-called "Desert Tyrant," was named that because of the inherent savage and ruthless nature in its core.
Pupitar was simply a transitional stage from Larvitar to Tyranitar. Berserk states were common. The Pokédex recorded that when Pupitar went berserk, it would charge wildly, wanting to smash mountains.
"Don't hit too hard, just enough to make it calm down," Kenji reminded warmly.
"CHAAA!!!—" Arbok was very obedient to Kenji. It responded even while delivering the blows.
Half an hour passed in the blink of an eye.
Pupitar's hard shell, which could smash steel, was now slightly cracked, but the eye was clear. It had clearly recovered from the berserk state.
However, the change in personality meant it no longer accepted the role of Arbok's little brother, much to Arbok's chagrin.
After healing Pupitar, Kenji recalled both Pokémon.
"Whoa, that Arbok... is so cool."
Goro, whose eyes were wide with shock, finally managed to speak.
Kenji didn't want to talk about Arbok, so he quickly changed the subject.
"Bro Kenji, when are you leaving?" Goro asked curiously. He knew Kenji was about to start traveling.
Kenji replied calmly, "Tomorrow."
Goro immediately whined sadly. "Wuwuwu, Bro Kenji, I'm going to miss you."
After some playful banter with Goro, the two parted ways.
Back at the villa, Ninetales was sitting cross-legged on the sofa. Upon closer inspection, she was watching short dramatic web series.
Kenji had gotten used to Ninetales's presence, and Ninetales was becoming increasingly comfortable living in human form. She even occasionally went out with Kenji.
