As she drifted off to sleep, she thought memories of her past life would flood back. She couldn't have been more wrong.
In her dream, Lin Wuyue was fifteen years old: an otherworldly beauty, slender, tall, and dazzling. She was truly quite lovely. She wore a red wedding dress and sat before a lovely vanity, gazing at her reflection in the mirror. Suddenly, an old, calloused hand touched her own, beautiful and porcelain-like. The man was also wearing a wedding suit.
Was she married to that perverted old man? She resisted with all her might in the dream, and just as she was about to wake up…
Her eyes snapped open, gasping for air. She obviously couldn't bear that dream. She shuddered and looked around; it was so dark she couldn't see a thing. Suddenly, her instincts told her she was in grave danger.
As a mortal child, she didn't have such keen senses, but the two teenagers did. They immediately jumped up. Feng Wu placed Lin Wuyue behind him.
"They're gray wolves..." Linyuan said, narrowing his eyes.
"How many?" Feng Wu asked.
"Hundreds of them."
Feng Wu frowned and, in a stern voice, said to Lin Wuyue:
"Don't stray too far from me."
The place was very dark, and they could barely see anything. They relied on their other senses to determine where the attack was coming from. From the small noises around them, they knew they were surrounded.
Fushh. The sound of a sharp blade slicing through flesh was heard: a gray wolf had attacked Liuyan. Another sword clash resounded: this time it was Feng Wu's turn to be attacked.
The wolves' howls began to echo. They decided the teenagers were ferocious, so they attacked as a pack.
Hundreds of wolves swarmed the teenagers at once. One wolf tried to attack Feng Wu from behind, but what it didn't know was that Lin Wuyue had already gotten there first and placed some medicine on her robes. The scent of that medicine was like a taboo to the gray wolves.
Feng Wu and Liuyan had no idea that their backs were protected by the little girl they had saved.
The battle was fierce. Feng Wu had scratches all over his body and face, and his clothes were covered in blood. Liuyan was in no better shape.
The wolves, seeing their fallen comrades, went berserk, entering a frenzied state as they mercilessly attacked the teenagers.
"This is too strange," Feng Wu shouted to Linyuan, who was standing beside him. "The gray wolves ignored us more than once when we entered this forest. Why are they suddenly attacking us with such fury?"
"They're being controlled," Linyuan replied, narrowing his eyes with a bad feeling. He turned to check on Lin Wuyue, but she had vanished.
Seeing no sign of the girl, Linyuan panicked and frantically began slashing the wolves in half. Feng Wu sensed something was wrong and turned his head as well.
"Little Xia Yue has disappeared!" Feng Wu cried, equally panicked.
It turned out that, after spreading the medicine she had prepared on her robes and taking a few steps back, she was suddenly seized by a pair of hands. Before she could scream, her acupuncture points near her throat and right shoulder had been sealed, meaning she couldn't move, let alone cry out.
"What the hell is going on?" she screamed in her mind. She really wanted to know. She'd been kidnapped twice since they'd dug her up alive. Did she really look like a lamb they could play with? She didn't think so at all.
As her mind raced with complaints, her kidnapper had already hoisted her over his shoulder and started running at top speed. He was running so fast the wind whipped around her ears.
She desperately wanted to understand why they were running so fast and why she had been kidnapped. What were the odds of this happening? How unlucky was she to be kidnapped without knowing why? She was furious.
Suddenly, the person stopped and threw her to the ground like a sack of garbage.
Lin Wuyue screamed inwardly. She wanted to cry, but she couldn't; no tears would come. She had been thrown so hard she thought her small bones would break.
Then she heard:
"Oh, sorry."
Lin Wuyue was furious. This time they kidnapped her in the middle of the night, tossed her around like a sack of potatoes, and then… apologized! She took a deep breath to calm herself and not lose her temper too soon.
She felt them slowly pull her out of the bag. This time they'd been somewhat careful. Her short, straight hair was slightly disheveled, but it didn't detract from her charming face at all.
The man who kidnapped her appeared to be the same age as Feng Wu and Linyuan. He was the same size, dressed in black, and wore a cloth over his face, but it was immediately clear he was a teenager.
The teenager stared at her for a long time. Lin Wuyue swallowed hard. She didn't want to die while her brain scrambled to devise a plan to escape as quickly as possible.
She felt a finger prick her cheeks. The girl looked resignedly at the teenager who was touching her cheeks, a smile on his face.
Seeing the girl's face turn red with anger, he felt even more amused and touched her cheeks once more. He felt small circles forming on her cheeks each time he did it; he found it really funny.
Seeing that the girl wasn't moving, the teenager remembered she was still immobilized. He then pressed her acupuncture points, allowing her to move again.
The girl gasped, taking a deep breath, and looked at the teenager with resignation, as if he were worse than an animal for treating her this way. Noticing that look, he whistled and looked away, scratching his head as if he were completely innocent… as if he hadn't kidnapped her and brought her there.
"Who are you and what do you want? Why did you kidnap me? What's your objective?" she asked seriously, leaving no room for excuses.
The teenager found it quite interesting and laughed heartily.
"Relax, don't get so worked up," she said with a mocking smile. "We're just giving the Iron Sword Sect a little scare. You were the one who administered that medicine, weren't you?"
His gaze, full of mockery, made it clear that he only wanted to provoke her.
