When the next day arrived and Hogwarts returned to normal, Kael immediately headed to the Hospital Wing.
On the way, nearly everyone was talking about what had happened yesterday, and there were all sorts of stories going around.
"Dark wizard attack on Hogwarts..."
"Death Eaters make a comeback..."
"Fantastic Beasts uprising..."
"Dumbledore's abandoned child returns for revenge..."
"Snape's abandoned child returns for revenge..."
...
Kael had only walked from the Hufflepuff Common Room to the entrance of the Auditorium, and he'd already heard five or six versions, each more outrageous than the last.
Honestly, if Lockhart had come to Hogwarts earlier to apply for a job, he probably wouldn't need to borrow stories to write his books.
It wasn't until Kael reached the courtyard that things quieted down a bit.
The Hospital Wing entrance was empty.
Due to the Quidditch match, most students had gone to the field, so when Hagrid was taken to the Hospital Wing, the young wizards didn't see him, and naturally no one knew he had been attacked.
Kael knocked on the door somewhat nervously, unsure if Madam Pomfrey would let him in, even though he was prepared to return empty-handed.
Surprisingly, Madam Pomfrey said nothing and simply stepped aside to let him in.
"You should try to console him; we don't have any magic potions for treating depression here."
Madam Pomfrey led Kael to the innermost bed and pulled back the curtain.
Hagrid lay there with vacant eyes, and despite Kael calling him several times, there was no response.
"Is it that bad?" Kael frowned.
"No!" Madam Pomfrey shook her head, "Last night, the Headmaster brought a special potion containing phoenix tears. After he drank it, his injuries were mostly healed."
"What's Hagrid's condition now then?"
"That's what I was saying earlier; he's too downcast, and he can't go on like this."
Madam Pomfrey sighed, "I'll leave him to you then. I'm going to prepare a Joyful Potion... hopefully it won't be needed."
After Madam Pomfrey left, Kael tried calling Hagrid a few more times without any success.
Feeling helpless, he took a deep breath and shouted loudly:
"Wake up, Hagrid, two fire dragons are fighting over a dragon egg in the Forbidden Forest!"
"Hmm..." This time, Hagrid finally stirred.
His eyes moved, and he mumbled, "No... they can't fight, the dragon egg will break..."
"You don't need to worry at all. Hogwarts doesn't have dragons... or dragon eggs!"
Hagrid turned his head, as if noticing Kael for the first time.
"Kael, why are you here."
"Of course, I heard you were injured and came to check on you." Kael handed him a large box of Chocolate Frogs, "Have some, they're good for you."
"I can't eat..."
Suddenly, Hagrid grabbed his hair and wailed loudly, "Druj... Lula... they all died right in front of me.
It's all my fault for being so slow... if I could have gotten there a bit quicker, they wouldn't have died..."
Hagrid's sobs grew louder and by the end, Kael couldn't even make out what he was saying.
But he didn't say anything, nor did he comfort Hagrid, just quietly sat there beside him, unwrapping one Chocolate Frog after another.
When the cries finally started dying down, Kael said, "I don't know how to comfort you, Hagrid, but at least you saved that unicorn."
"Selena..." Hagrid lifted his head, showing a first expression other than guilt, asking with delight, "Is she okay?"
"If the Selena you're talking about is the unicorn... then yes, she's alive."
Kael handed Hagrid a handful of Chocolate Frogs, continuing after he saw him eat them, "Yesterday Newt Scamander visited Hogwarts, and the unicorn has been taken back for treatment.
I think, by the end of this school year, it should be able to return to live in the Forbidden Forest."
"You actually met Mr. Scamander?" Hagrid asked incredulously, "You're not lying to me?"
"Of course!" Kael confirmed with a nod.
This was all said personally by Newt when he sneaked into the Hufflepuff Common Room yesterday, so there was no falsehood.
But their later conversation couldn't be shared with Hagrid.
Kael couldn't figure out how, even Cedric and the Weasley brothers didn't know about his suitcase, how Dumbledore knew it!
Could it be that Hermione tattled...
But that couldn't be right, she couldn't meet Dumbledore, even if she wanted to tattle, she should've gone to Professor McGonagall.
Really met with Riddle!
"That's great, really great..."
Hagrid cried again, but this time tears of joy.
"So you see, the Forbidden Forest can't be without you."
Kael shoved the last of the Chocolate Frogs at Hagrid, "Don't forget, this time you didn't catch that dark wizard. What if he sneaks into the Forbidden Forest again while you're gone?
Those unicorns can't match up to evil dark wizards."
"Yes... you're right." Hagrid rubbed his face, sitting up from the bed, "I'll head back now."
"Not so fast." Kael stopped him and handed over a small ball about the size of a fist.
"Take this."
"Thank you, Kael, but there's no need." Hagrid declined, "I've eaten enough chocolate already, you keep them for yourself."
"This isn't chocolate, it's a distress device I made."
Kael explained, "As long as you crush the shell, it will fire special fireworks into the sky, then whether it's Headmaster Dumbledore or other professors, they will definitely see it if they're at Hogwarts."
Hagrid looked at the ball in his hand, shook his head, "I won't need this."
In fact, Hagrid felt all along that he was shocked by the death of those two centaurs, and added with a moment of carelessness, he was ambushed and injured.
If he encountered that dark wizard again, he'd be able to beat out everything the guy ate last night... whether from the top or the bottom...
Besides, even if he really couldn't win, he could always use the wand hidden in the pink umbrella to shoot red sparks into the sky for help, or alert others.
Of course, he must never let others know he still had the wand hidden.
"Take it, Hagrid." Kael shoved it into his hand, "Don't get careless, think of it as for the Fantastic Beasts... the sooner we catch the dark wizard, the sooner the Forbidden Forest can be peaceful again."
"Well... alright." Hagrid though it over and agreed, asking, "Just crush it?"
"Exactly." Kael said, "You can keep it in your hand when heading to the Forbidden Forest, and if needed, just crush it, it's much easier than firing distress red sparks."
"Hmm..." Hagrid turned his head, mumbling, "I, I don't have a wand..."
