Chapter 21 - The Screen

"What the—is he really human?" Satoru asked, astonishment whirling in his heart.

"I think so!" The princess wasn't shown anymore, because that speed was mostly too much for a normal human.

"That speed is not normal for a human or any creature in this world!" Satoru added.

Kai rushed at a constant speed around the mansion. His mind was racing, thinking about whether he was imagining it or it was reality. And letting the task go was going to land him in deep trouble since he didn't know the consequences of failure.

'This is bad if it's reality. I have to beat that time. Even if it's not real, I have to do it fast. Two minutes is not that long; I'll be done if I make it. And this speed, this speed is not enough to beat the time!' Kai thought, trying to increase his speed.

'Kai, slow down your speed. Where did you gain such speed? Slow down; you'll make me puke. Slow down.' Seraphina screamed louder for help when Kai was running.

He finished the first round in just 24 seconds, but it wasn't displayed; the next round was 48, and the screen blinked, showing him the time.

Kai ran with constant speed until he slowed down after 4 rounds; the last round was difficult. The screen blinked, telling him about the speed decrease and also 11 seconds left while he was left with a hundred meters.

"Damn, damn, damn, DAMN!" He said, starting low, but he kept increasing his voice until he yelled.

The time left was 5 seconds, 45 meters left.

——-

Satoru and the other exclaimed, both of them staring at Kai, who was running.

"What the—his speed, his speed…?" Satoru said, his eyes widened and his mouth wide open as he saw Kai increasing his speed.

"Wait, is he increasing on top of that speed?" the princess said, watching Kai increasing his speed on top of the 50 km/h.

Kai screamed louder as he tried to beat the last time frame. He passed the finish line when there was a second left.

He fell down, his heart thudding loud in his chest while his chest made a massive heat from running super fast. His legs started to feel like they were breathing. His stomach clung on top of the dust, causing a dirt eruption from the ground. The system notification appeared.

'So it was real after all?' Kai asked, his face down in the dirt, his nose blowing the dust as he breathed.

'[What are you even talking about, loser?]' Seraphina wasn't seeing the screen; she was taken aback every time when Kai spoke something like that.

'I'm not a loser, dammit!!'

'[Yeah sure, don't do such a run, disturbing my nap.]'

"Don't forget that you are renting in my body!" Kai loudly yelled, his voice echoed around the mansion.

"Huh?" Satoru got astonished by the sudden yell while Kai was panting his lungs out.

"Maybe he's like that!" The princess tried to cover Kai's tracks when he yelled at Seraphina, but Satoru didn't buy it.

"So you don't know your own bodyguard?"

The princess' eyes burned with rage while glued to Kai, who was lying down on his stomach.

The princess approached the two, a scary aura looming over her. Kai looked at the princess and saw her eyes blazing with rage, her face looking scary, with many intimidating lines.

"Huh?!" 'Is she mad?' Kai asked himself, but Seraphina replied,

'How in the hell will I know? It was going to be better if it was you!]'

'Just shut up already and brace for impact!'

The princess approached, her voice growling as she breathed; it caused some chills down Kai's spine. The princess looked as if she was going to jump on Akirion and eat him alive, but when she got next to him, she grabbed him by the ear.

She pulled him to a hidden spot away from Satoru's sight. Satoru was left thunderstruck, his eyes widened and his mouth wide open as he gulped.

"I can predict the screams that would come from behind the walls." Satoru said to himself as he watched Kai being pulled like a log.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch, Princess, what are you doing? Hey, hello, you are going to pull my ear out. Hey, please, sorry!" Kai yelled louder, but the princess proved to be deaf in that situation. She forced Kai to stand up because he couldn't bear the pain of the ear being pulled like a rabbit's skin.

He forgot about the breathing legs; only the ear was his top priority. He silently followed the princess while Seraphina cheered inside of Kai, her voice ringing in his voice like embarrassing memories.

'[Ohh yes, pull him, Princess, I'm sure it feels nice, yey!]' Seraphina cheered, trying to make Kai explode in anger. But Kai held himself before he yelled.

They reached a hidden point, and the princess turned and looked Kai in the eye.

'Whoa! Creepy!' Kai silently said when he saw the princess's face filled with rage. It looked like she was another person; only her blonde hair and her clothes verified her identity.

"What did I tell you guys about arguing?" the princess asked, her voice fiercely growling as anger prevailed in her body.

Kai shivered, and Seraphina was sent to mute; her voice was no longer heard.

"Hey, I'm talking to the two of you!" the princess continued. Kai looked behind him and found an empty space, with no one behind him.

"Who are you looking for behind you? Are you dumb? I'm talking to you and Seraphina inside of you!"

"Ahh, Seraphina, wake up, the princess wants to have a chat with you!" Kai called out Seraphina, who was on mute.

"I don't want to talk to her alone; I want to talk to the two of you, because you yelled in front of Satoru, and it caused suspicion!" The princess deepened her voice more, and Kai was left shaking.

"It, I, it, it was, was Seraphina who started me, I swear; she's the one who was mocking me until I lost control of my, my inner voice!" Kai stammered as he felt the tension of the princess.

Suddenly, her rage faded away.
