Chapter 22 - Sword Training

The surroundings got calm, Kai got surprised, his mind raced while his heart slowed down as fear faded away after the princess's face suddenly went back to normal.

Her eyes flashed a ray of mischief as she had her lips curling.

Suddenly, Satoru kept his ears wide open as he expected a scream but embarrassingly, his ears received nothing.

"What's going on back there, I was expecting a scream but it's super quieter than I expected!" Satoru said, his eyes searching, trying to peak on the two.

The princess was amazed by Kai's speed; when it thought flashed to her mind, her angry face melted back to normal.

"Wow! You are super fast Kai!" The princess said, as she smiled, her eyes gently opening, filled with mischief.

"HUH? Ahh, maybe it was luck!" said Akirion, his hand holding his absent beard. 'By the way, I wasn't this fast in my world!' Kai thought, his mind racing, trying to figure out the main fuel of his speed.

'[This world is far more different than your world, dumbass!]' Seraphina dissed, but also landing a point.

"You can't call that luck, that was pure speed, and you maintained it for 4 rounds, if it was luck, you were supposed to use that speed maybe half a round or one round, that's obviously not luck!"

"Mhh, seems like I'm fast!"

"Yes, and you are one of the few who can run like that! By the way, your master Satoe is waiting!"

The two exited the back of the wall with their faces blooming with smiles, and that surprised Satoru.

'Wow, that's totally the princess; she has changed a lot! She was hot-tempered, and with that rage she had, Kai was supposed to be bandaged by now! It's good that he's fine and that gets us to our training.'

"Satoru! Here is your student; you can deal with him all you want. I'll be getting some rest, but that doesn't mean I'm taking a nap!" Princess Sonia said, her eyes shining with excitement and mischief.

"Yeah sure, I know that you don't like sleeping in the afternoon, so I'm sure you will be keeping your eyes peeled and glaring here?"

"Yes!" the princess replied on her way to the big tree nearby that had a lovely soothing shade. The tree was totally green, with less dots of the sun piercing through.

Kai and Satoru were left standing, their eyes glaring at each other.

"Hey Kai, would you mind picking up those sticks over there?" Satoru said, pointed at the sticks that were in the the corner of the house.

The sticks were made like swords, but they were not sharp, just good for hitting someone, leaving no cut.

Kai went and picked the sticks and gave them to Satoru. Satoru took one and left one.

"The lesson starts now, I wonder what to start with though!" Satoru said as he gentle closed his eyes feeling the gentle breeze flowing through his body, making him feel more calm and relieved.

"Alright, Kai," Satoru said, planting his sword into the ground. "Before anything else, respect the weapon. Even a wooden one can hurt if you don't handle it right."

Kai nodded quickly.

"Now let's see how you can wield it!" Satoru said, observing Kai's way of wielding a sword.

It was his first time holding something like a sword, so his body was a bit shaky, afraid of making mistakes.

"Good." Satoru stepped closer and adjusted Kai's hands. "Hold it firm, but not too tight. You're gripping it like it's going to run away!"

Kai loosened his hold a little. "Like this?"

"Better. Keep your wrists loose too , it'll help you swing smoother." Satoru tapped the back of Kai's hand lightly. "Now, stand with your feet apart, one a bit forward."

Kai moved, unsure. His front foot pointed sideways.

"Straighten that foot. Yeah, there. Knees bent, shoulders relaxed. Remember , balance first, power later!"

Kai exhaled, adjusting his stance again. "Like this?"

Satoru nodded. "Good. You look less like you're about to fall over." He stepped back and picked up his own sword. "Now, watch me."

Satoru raised the wooden sword above his shoulder and swung it down in a slow, smooth motion. "This is your first cut. Don't rush it. Follow through and breathe while you move; don't stiffen your body; be calm and free."

Kai copied him. His swing came down heavy and uneven, smacking into the air with a loud whoosh.

Satoru chuckled. "Too stiff. Let the sword do the work , not your shoulders."

Kai tried again, slower this time. The blade moved cleaner and quieter.

"Better," Satoru said. "Now step forward when you swing. Keep your feet steady; don't cross them."

Kai followed the steps, and though his arms trembled, the movement looked closer to what Satoru had shown.

"Not bad," Satoru said, folding his arms. "You'll need to practice that a few hundred times. That's how you build good habits."

"A few hundred?" Kai groaned.

"Training isn't supposed to be fun," Satoru said with a smirk. "But it works. Once your body remembers, your mind won't have to think about every move."

Kai nodded, breathing heavily. "Alright. Again?"

"Always," Satoru said. "But this time, focus on your stance before you swing. Every good strike starts from the ground."

Kai took position again, and as he swung, Satoru gave a small nod.

"Better. Keep that up, and soon your blade will start feeling like part of you."

Kai glanced at his sword and smiled faintly. "Can't wait for that."

Satoru grinned. "Then stop talking and swing again."

Satoru kept his eyes on Kai as he trained; his eyes were closely observing each and every move he was making.

'Wow, she was right; he's a fast learner for sure.' he silently said, watching Kai's improvement in just a day.

He then went to the princess, leaving Kai training, his sword swinging around just like what he was told.
