Cherreads

Chapter 12 - Shit! How Are They Here!?

Walking down the dark hallway, Shinji began searching for the mysterious signal his Maxwell-Scranton EVE detector was receiving. For a space station, they seem to deal with an awful lot of thaumaturgical artifacts...

Eyes still focused, Shinji used the detector to detect levels of Hume and his vast Psychic senses for any divine-level creatures present in the space station. Despite the readings showing a reading of 23 (perfectly normal for a location that's dealing with things that are borderline mystical), his guts were singing a different tune.

I don't know why, but my left eye seems to be twitching a lot...

Just as he was about to go up from the Seclusion Zone, soft flapping noises could be heard coming from one of the many large halls present. As he turned his head to find the source of the sound, his eyes shrank.

Oh for the love of– Whose idea was it to breed a divine-level Tyranid!?

Resembling the Tyranids that came from the Grimdark, 20 bugs of all sizes exploded out of the room, their mandibles glistening with drool at the sight of fresh food coming their way...

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

As he punched the 20th bug, he realised that instead of decreasing, they seemed to have multiplied, and exponentially at that!

Shit, if nothing's done, once they escape, the surrounding galaxy'll be devoured into nutrients! Damn whoever made them!

(Meanwhile, in a certain laboratory, a certain expressionless woman, wearing a dark green qipao, sneezes loudly, much to the chagrin of her staff...)

Just as they were about to burrow him with their combined mass, he gave a soft yet sharp sigh. With a sharp crack, the space beside him shattered like fragile glass, as he took out a Vorftuen Plasma Screamer. Though he only managed to keep only three instances of the nine books, he was lucky enough to have a copy of SCP-6952.

Using its highly anomalous properties, he was able to create weapons that had the capability to kill near damn indestructible creatures that poured forth from. The deepest nightmares of humans. Though he could not use them to create actual Godkillers, the weapons were all the more useful, given their limited capabilities (to him that is – others would call them Godslayers).

With a a single pulse, the scream emitted from the weapon shattered the insects into paté, turning them into mush. Despite trying to split into more, they kept failing, for the anomalous properties of the rifle ensured their regeneration was rendered moot. Just as he was about to continue searching for the source of his unease, he stopped.

Wait, where is the divine level–

"SCREEEEECH!"

Coming from the very heavens themselves, a gigantic bug emerged from the ceiling. Mandibles as sharp as the Cold Iron used for the Dragonslayer, the beast's brutal yet cunning eyes showed hints of intelligence, which was why it did not attack him (plus the fact that the Spear of the Non-Believer was present itself caused the bug even greater fear).

Shinji stood by, crouched as he took careful observations of the creature before him. Skaracabaz α-1 did the same, for it–

Kaboom!

Without warning, it exploded, leaving nothing but hard chitin and broken mandibles in its place...

Heh, whoever built it obviously did not take into account genetic instability. All praise to the forgetful one!

Just as he was about to leave the zone, confident in that his threat was neutralised, he froze:

For in one corner was a long trail, a long trail of blood and faeces...
