Upon hearing Goku's suggestion, Might Guy's eyes lit up, but they quickly dimmed again. "That's not possible. There's nowhere in the village where we can fight."
"The areas just outside the village won't work either, and the places that are far enough away would take too long to get to."
Even for someone like him, who loved to burn with the flames of youth, travelling for hours just for a spar seemed unnecessary.
Moreover, a ninja of his rank needed to file a report and get approval to leave the village, and it was unlikely Lord Hokage would approve of such a request.
"Haha~ Don't worry, I'll take you," Goku said.
As soon as he spoke, he appeared before Guy and took the bandages he had just used. Then, before the bewildered Guy could react, he wrapped them around his body.
"What are you do—"
Before he could finish his question, a white aura of ki erupted from Goku's body, and then, swoosh—, he pulled Guy with him and shot into the sky!
"Waaahhh! He's... he's flying!" Seeing Goku take flight, Naruto's jaw dropped so wide he could have fit several eggs in his mouth.
He wasn't the only one. Sasuke, Sakura, Rock Lee, and even the usually unflappable Kakashi were all staring, dumbfounded.
"How is that possible?!"
In all the time they had spent with him, Goku had never used the flight technique. As a result, they had no idea he could fly, which explained their current state of shock.
"Ouch! That hurts! Naruto, what did you pinch me for?"
"Hehe, sorry about that, thick-eyebrows, my bad~" Naruto said, putting his hands together and giving a sheepish laugh as he apologised to Lee.
He wasn't about to admit that he had pinched him to see if he was dreaming. As for why he didn't just pinch himself... was there anyone that foolish these days?
Just as he finished his apology, Sakura cried out, "I can't see Goku-sensei and Lee's teacher anymore!"
While he had been apologising, Goku had flown farther and farther away with Guy, until they had become a black dot in the sky and vanished from sight.
'Truly astonishing. Goku, how many more secrets are you hiding?' Kakashi thought, his mind racing as he stared at the horizon. This was far from the first time Goku had shocked him.
After collecting his thoughts, he spoke to everyone present in a serious tone. "No one is to speak of the fact that Goku can fly. Could you not mention it to anyone? Do you all understand?"
Goku's identity was mysterious enough as it was. It was better not to let too many people know he could fly, or there was no telling what kind of trouble it might cause.
--Meanwhile, high in the sky--
"Goku, you can fly?" Guy, who was dangling in the air, showed no signs of panic. Instead, he calmly looked up at Goku.
"Yeah, haha," Goku replied with a simple-minded grin.
He had learned over the past month that the people of this world couldn't fly, so he wasn't surprised by Guy's reaction.
"You really are incredible!" Guy exclaimed instinctively.
In the entire shinobi world, apart from the old man in Iwagakure, he had never heard of anyone else who could fly. And now, he had run into another exception.
He was about to ask Goku how he did it, but then he remembered they had only just met, and such a skill was likely a personal secret.
He decided against it and instead asked, "Goku, where are we flying to?"
Since most of the Land of Fire was covered in forests that all looked alike, he had no idea where they were from the air.
"I'm looking for a place with no one around. Ah! There! That's the spot." Goku's eyes suddenly lit up, and he pulled Guy with him as he flew quickly towards the left.
In the distance was a giant forest. At its edge, there was a clearing connected to a cliff, a perfect spot for their battle.
He had also scanned the area with his ki and confirmed there was no one around, so they didn't have to worry about injuring anyone.
In just a few seconds, he reached the location and landed on the ground.
"This place does look pretty good," Might Guy said, unwrapping the bandages and giving a thumbs-up after a look around.
"Right? Then let's continue our fight!" A grin spread across Goku's face, a look of eagerness in his eyes.
"No problem! Youth is meant to be burned this way! The Eight Inner Gates! Gate of Opening, Gate of Healing, Gate of Life, OPEN!!"
With a passionate expression, Might Guy opened three gates in one go. He then took a deep breath and continued to shout, "Gate of Pain, OPEN!!"
"Gate of Limit, OPEN!!"
BOOM!!
A torrent of green energy, far more powerful than before, erupted from his body. The immense power stirred the air around him, creating strong currents that sent the nearby stones flying.
Goku, who was directly facing this pressure, felt his hair whip around his face, a look of keen interest in his eyes.
A white aura of ki flared up around him as he beckoned to his opponent.
"LET THE FLAMES OF YOUTH BURN!!"
BOOM!!!
Seeing Goku's signal, Might Guy, with veins bulging on his forehead, let out a mighty roar, pushed off with his right foot, and shot towards Goku.
BOOM!!!
Another massive crash echoed through the area as their knees slammed together with earth-shattering force.
At the point of impact, the white aura of ki and the green energy clashed violently, surging and boiling as if in a deadly struggle.
Then, Guy suddenly used the Body Flicker Technique to appear behind Goku, driving his elbow backwards with a piercing sonic boom.
But the attack hit nothing! At some point, only an afterimage of Goku remained where he had been standing.
The afterimage rippled as the elbow passed through it, then dissipated. Not good! A jolt went through Guy's heart, and he dodged to the side without a second thought.
BOOM!!!
A long leg, carrying the force of a tidal wave, slammed into the ground where he had just been, blasting a huge crater in the earth.
Crack, crack!
The moment the crater was formed, several menacing cracks shot out from its centre, spreading rapidly outward.
'What terrifying power,' Guy thought, catching a glimpse of the attack's devastation.
He then flickered, appearing in front of Goku and, taking advantage of the brief moment between Goku's attacks, launched a powerful uppercut at his chin!
SMACK!!
But Goku didn't let him succeed. He raised his right hand and blocked the attack, then lifted his left leg and drove his knee forward with the force of a thunderclap!
SMACK!!
Guy didn't let him succeed either. He blocked the blow with his free left hand and used the momentum to backflip several times.
He then immediately charged forward again, resuming the battle with Goku.
Thud, thud, thud!
Smack, smack, smack!
The two of them continued to fight fiercely, leaving a trail of craters and cracks in their wake, giving the landscape a brand new 'look.'
A short while later.
"Goku, your strength is beyond my imagination!" Seeing that even with five gates open, he was still unable to defeat Goku, Might Guy decided to open another one.
"Sixth Gate, the Gate of Joy, OPEN!!"
BOOM!!!
The green energy surrounding his body grew even more intense, and his skin turned a deeper shade of red.
After opening the gate, he exploded forward, attacking with a speed that surpassed everything before, and slammed Goku into the face of the cliff!
He then unleashed a flurry of ultra-high-speed punches. One after another, balls of fire appeared out of thin air in front of his fists, like a peacock spreading its magnificent tail.
They then shot towards Goku, who was embedded in the cliff face, leaving piercing sonic booms in their wake!
This was an advanced taijutsu technique he could only use after opening the sixth gate.
A powerful move that used the intense shockwaves and flames generated by striking the air to continuously and violently assault the opponent—
