"Wh–what!? What on earth happened!!"
The officers stared at Kingpin lying on the ground, foul-smelling blood spreading from the body of that "fat pig," pooling into a dark red lake.
Countless blade wounds — and shockingly, the cuts had gone through his clothes, leaving a dense web of slashes across his massive body.
What kind of person could carry out an assassination like this?
"Chief, could it be that someone sliced up his body first and then dressed him in clothes afterwards?"
The police chief turned around, stunned by this bizarre comment. He frowned."Kid, are you a pervert? Think about the mental image of a naked corpse like that."
"O–oh!"
The chief slowly stood up. He took a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and silently walked out of the office.
He pulled out his phone. After hesitating for a long moment, he decided to make the call.
Beep… beep…
"Hello, Mr. Xu Dan."
"Mm. Hello, Chief. Did you need something from me?"
The chief forced a stiff smile. "Uh, about that… was Kingpin's death… your doing?"
"Huh? Kingpin? What happened to him? I'm still at the company working. If you need help, I can send my assistant over."
Xu Dan denied everything — flawlessly, without a single crack.
Right now, he was hacking into Fisk Industries' security system, deleting all footage.
Of course, deleted or not, there was someone who already knew exactly what had happened.
But as long as everyone understood without saying it aloud, that was enough. Some things simply must not be spoken.
The chief let out a small smile, visibly relieved."Haha! Well then, Mr. Xu, looks like you just missed quite a sight. That dead pig Kingpin looks like someone dissected him. Considering all the crimes he's committed—what a satisfying revenge!"
"Oh? What a pity, then."
"I feel pity for you too! Alright, I'll handle the rest. When this is wrapped up, dinner's on me."
"Hehe, no need for that. If the chief can keep upholding justice — especially justice for Antarctic Games — I'll be eternally grateful. A lot of people have been trying to kidnap me these days!"
"Absolutely, absolutely!"
"Alright, goodbye."
When the call ended, both men had gotten exactly what they wanted — and were more than satisfied.
Next would be collecting Kingpin's corpse and confiscating Fisk Industries, which had piles of illegal goods hidden under that oversized desk chair of his.
With such a contribution, the chief couldn't even imagine the reward waiting for him.
He might even be publicly honored before the entire nation, with a federal senator personally pinning an important medal on him!
That would be glorious beyond words.
As for the old commissioner? The chief couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge him now.
Even if the commissioner sent people to arrest them, it would be pointless!
Kingpin had been taken down. It was a shame he wasn't captured alive — they couldn't dig out more dirt from him — but what they had was already more than enough.
Greed too much, and you choke.
————————
With Kingpin handled, Xu Dan could finally breathe.
If assassinations and kidnapping attempts kept happening every other day, who could survive that!?
Now, he could finally focus on refining his game!
In just two days, Warcraft had broken a new global record — 250 million concurrent online players.
That was an astronomical figure.
It officially marked the absolute success of Warcraft.
The company's original servers could no longer withstand the tidal wave of players — they were practically about to explode!
He had no choice but to send Liva out again to purchase new servers.
But in this era, server technology was nowhere near as advanced as in his previous life — large, bulky, and far less capable.
The servers on the market… were just trash!
He had to take a different route.
He contacted the intimidating Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury.
Official-use tech was always decades ahead of civilian gear. Going through Fury was absolutely the right call.
But that old schemer actually threw a problem at him!
S.H.I.E.L.D. refused to sell any servers — claiming "strict upper-level regulations."
Regulations, his foot. With Fury's abilities, how could he not procure a few servers?
Still, because he valued Xu Dan and wanted future cooperation, Fury gave him an even better recommendation—
Tony Stark.
Who was Tony Stark?A notorious playboy, yes — but also a genius inventor.
Military industrial genius on one hand, and in electronic engineering he was just as brilliant.
Rumor had it that he built a robot when he was still a teenager. Xu Dan thought back to his own teenage years… copying essays from memory?
Anyway — ordinary people could never get an appointment with that extravagant heir Tony Stark.
Fortunately, with Fury's introduction, Xu Dan drove straight to the most luxurious building in New York — Stark Tower.
When he arrived, the person greeting him was Tony Stark's personal bodyguard, Happy Hogan.
"Hello, Mr. Xu Dan. Welcome to Stark Tower. Mr. Stark is already waiting upstairs!"
Seeing the bodyguard's friendly smile, Xu Dan nodded politely.
He had liked Happy in Iron Man — loyal, meticulous, like an old butler.
He even screened every single woman Tony wanted to sleep with.
Following Happy through the building and into the private elevator, Xu Dan soon spotted Tony Stark from afar — flailing wildly in front of a computer screen.
Nearly thirty years old, and he still gamed like a hyperactive teenager.
Happy sighed and cleared his throat, then knocked deliberately on the door.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Whoa! Look who's here!" Tony finally snapped back to reality, tossing the game aside and greeting Xu Dan with exaggerated enthusiasm."Xu Dan! First time meeting — I'm Tony Stark! You've heard of me, right?"
Xu Dan looked calmly at him.Seeing the legendary Tony Stark in person didn't excite him as much as he had expected.
After spending so long in this world, his mindset had become much calmer.
What surprised him instead was the way Tony stared at him — like an elementary school kid seeing Uncle Hideo Kojima in the flesh.
Fantastic.The man was unhinged.
"An honor, an honor," Xu Dan replied.
"Wow! Wow! I still have to say it — wow!"
"Mr. Stark, let's talk business."
"Just call me Tony!"
"Alright, Tony, let's talk business."
"Hey, no rush! You don't understand — I'm actually your fan! Ever since your first game, I've followed your work! Seriously!"
Tony gestured for him to follow as he spoke excitedly.
