Chapter 71 - Xu Dan knew this item quite well.

Xu Dan knew this item quite well.

When The King of Fighters was released, a basic enhancement package had appeared in the System Points Mall. That junior fighting enhancement package had already made him almost otherworldly—granting strength and physical ability far beyond ordinary humans.

Yet, even with that power, he still couldn't overcome the Sabretooth Tiger. On one hand, his body's sheer mass limited him; on the other, raw strength alone wasn't enough.

Now, seeing the intermediate body strengthening package, Xu Dan couldn't help but smile proudly.

The previous package had emphasized combat, but this one focused purely on body strengthening. The difference was obvious!

"Buy!"

Ding-dong!

"Purchase successful!"

A prompt appeared on the virtual panel, and without warning, a surge of power coursed through Xu Dan's body.

It felt like internal energy or true qi from the novels, running along his meridians, quenching and strengthening every part of him it touched.

Abdomen, chest, arms…

Xu Dan's jaw dropped at the overwhelming force. No wonder Thanos always looked up to the sky after acquiring an Infinity Stone—this sensation was awe-inspiring!

The strengthening energy flowed steadily, consuming itself gradually, and both Xu Dan's appearance and inner constitution improved.

The last remnants of energy surged to the most sensitive part of him…

"Ah~"

Xu Dan let out a low groan without even realizing it.

If strengthening one's limbs and feeling them swell with power was heaven, then this final rush of energy to the deepest core was immortal ascension!

It was an experience ordinary people could never understand. Every man secretly dreamed of making his "second brother" invincible—but usually, the results backfired. The thing grew, but they had no control over it.

Now, with the energy fully expended, Xu Dan had complete mastery.

"Huh?~"

The little wolf on the desk tilted its head curiously, watching its suddenly twitching owner. It seemed concerned, or maybe confused.

Xu Dan smiled and turned the little wolf around, gently pulling his belt aside.

"…Lie down!"

It wasn't that he was short-sighted—he simply couldn't describe the mood he was in.

Lying there was like having a dragon at his command.

Just as he was marveling, a sudden knock on the door startled him. He hurriedly fastened his belt, moving like lightning, instinctively hiding as if in his own room.

Then he remembered—he was the boss here. No need to be afraid.

"Come in!"

Riva entered, carrying a sealed, clear plastic bag containing a 20-centimeter calf bone.

It looked fresh—definitely not the type of "stolen calf" bones reckless security guards might grab.

"Whoosh!"

The unusually intelligent little wolf yipped, eyes locked on the bone. Wolves love meat; dogs love gnawing bones. This frostwolf ghost cub, forged by the system… how could it resist?

"Huh?" Riva frowned, glancing at the bones in her hands. "Dan, do you have a puppy? I thought I just heard a dog bark."

Xu Dan followed her gaze—it was obvious she hadn't noticed the little wolf yet.

"Here!" he said, pointing at the ghostly creature on the desk. Sure enough, its translucent body made it hard to see.

Following Xu Dan's instruction, Riva spotted a tiny blue animal hiding behind the computer and gasped.

"Huh? A crystal artifact? Some kind of living crystal tech?"

Accustomed to game companies, her first instinct was to analyze scientifically.

But as she moved the bone closer, the pup cried out again.

"Whoosh!"

The little wolf abandoned all dignity. For a single bone, it stuck out its tongue like a hungry dog, swaying its dull tuft of hair on top of its head.

Riva's heart melted instantly.

"Wow… so realistic! It's adorable!"

She reached out to touch it, but as soon as her fingers brushed its light-blue body, she recoiled as if shocked.

It wasn't crystal at all. Though essentially a ghost, it had fur—soft and tangible.

"This… it's alive? It can't be!"

Xu Dan grinned, scooping up the pup by the scruff.

"Oooo…"

The pup's four paws left the ground, its body swinging in midair as if swimming.

"See? It's real!"

Riva stared incredulously, trying to comprehend what she was seeing. Her mind raced, but she couldn't figure out any earthly breed that looked like this.

"Dan, tell me… where did it come from? I have to get one!"

Women couldn't resist cute things. And this frostwolf ghost cub was not only intelligent and adorable but incredibly rare. More enticing than a diamond ring.

Hearing this, Xu Dan opened the System Points Mall without hesitation, ready to purchase one for her.

He had always been generous when it came to such things. 100,000 points was nothing.

…Except he forgot that after buying numerous auxiliary skills and the intermediate enhancement package, his points balance had dwindled to a measly three digits.

Xu Dan touched the tip of his nose, pretending to think.

"This… should count as a mutant wolf. A fan of the game gave it to me!"

"Mutant… wolf?"

"Yes!"

Riva looked again in disbelief. "You're not lying?"

"When have I ever lied to you?"

"The first time, you said you couldn't go in… and then you did. You said don't move… and then moved!"

"…."

Xu Dan was speechless. But hearing Liva mention this made his strengthened body warm with a flush of delight.

This girl—carefully trained by him into a professional, elite beauty—had a certain charm that left his heart racing.

"Then put it down. Come here—I'll tell you a secret!"
