Chapter 7 - Chap 7: Interrogation

After they went back to the base Tundra and Hirune snuck down into the basement, and Hirune led him to the ethereal gates she'd opened.

"It's here," Hirune said as she looked at Tundra for approval to move in.

Tundra nodded, and at the count of 3 they opened the door, only to be met by the same sight Hirune saw the first time she was here. Tundra was unfaced as he stared at the shadows, Hirune shivered, but after seeing corpses being eaten that last time, she was mostly fine. They looked at each other, then Tundra froze the shadows. Only the one sitting at the throne was unaffected as it stood.

Then Hirune recognized the figure, "Namulenza?" The shadow figure raised its head slightly, then started walking towards her. Hirune could recognize her, even though she now had horns, Namulenza's physique was very recognizable due her certain aspects of her.

The shadow spoke as it touched Hirune's chin, "Who might you be? You don't seem like a stranger for some reason, yet you also don't seem familiar." The shadow moved its head up and down, then stopped at Hirune's clavicle. "So that's the reason. Seems like I'll have to devour you."

The shadow Namulenza raised her hand and the same jaws Hirune used against the pyromaniac came out of it. Hirune looked at it, then she quickly pulled her revolver out of her pocket and shot towards the shadows head, she missed and instead shot one of its horns off.

She hadn't used her gun against the pyromaniac because it was likely that the bullets would've blown up one of the canisters, then even when there weren't any canisters around the bullets would've melted if they got too close to the guy, but for this shadow she could shoot it without any draw backs.

The shadow dropped as the jaws dissaspeared, "You little-" Hirune was about to shoot again but the shadow swatted her gun away.

Hirune took a step back, then she quickly made the jaws come out of her palm again recalling how to do it. The shadow Namulenza snapped her finger, making the jaws go away. "It seems as though you can also use the Devourer Jaws. Too bad that they belong to me," she said as she went to use them again, Tundra suddenly shot her with Hirune's gun.

"Hirune!" Tundra said as he shot the shadow again while walking back to the gates. Hirune looked at him and nodded as she ran towards the gates, Tundra not letting down on shooting the shadow.

They quickly shut the gate and leaned against the nearby wall. Hirune took deep breaths as her heart pounded. Then she shook her head. That couldn't have been the real Namulenza, from the one interaction she had with her she could tell. Namulenza wasn't as cruel as that clone of her was. She was just like an old grandma that was just happy to even talk to her kids or grandkids, that couldn't have been her.

She needed answers to what that was, and she needed them soon. She looked at Tundra and without hesitation asked, "Do you know anything about Namulenza?"

He looked at her and sat there for a bit, looking at the roof while giving her back her revolver. Then he said, "I know she was a feared witch. I also know that right now her sister Demonia is causing chaos throughout the world after her seal was destroyed. That's all I know, that's also all that Ellen knows so it's unlikely we'll get many answers."

Hirune sighed and thought for a bit. Then she looked at Tundra again, "Well what if we try to uncover the answers? I'm sure Ellen probably has leads for those, actually, there might be something keeping her from doing it. If we find out what that is, we could figure it out."

Tundra nodded and stood up, "Let's go. I'm waking her up."

After Tundra woke Ellen up through some pretty cold means, they sat her down on the couch and started talking to her. A light hitting her directly in the face. Hirune held up some notes, "Suspect Ellen, we'd like you to tell us what you know about Namulenza and her sister. Don't avoid the question or there will be consequences."

Ellen groaned a little, "Could you dim that light a little? Also, All I know is that Namulenza was feared throughout the land and that Demonia-"

Hirune cut her off and brightened the light, "Well do you know how we can learn more about them?"

Ellen nodded, "Yeah, I know of a couple of places we can get information on them. But why are you asking? If you were that curious about them then you could've asked about where to get it. I'm always open to help you with it. I just haven't had any reason to go and learn about them."

Hirune and Tundra looked at each other. "Well, that was easy. You can go back to sleep Ellen." Hirune said as she turned off the light and they all went out like a light.

The next morning Ellen told Hirune and Tundra where they were going, "Where going to the Triple Red Peaks. Also, last night I couldn't properly explain what Demonia was so let me elaborate on that. Demonia is currently on a rampage all over the world, her forces striking at random. She herself is just in control of it, so she doesn't partake in it herself to make things seem more natural. Yet that doesn't mean she doesn't do anything herself as she fights the gods to try and hinder their defenses. Her goal being to destroy everything that exists.

"Anyways take as much time as you need to prepare for our trip to the Triple Red Peaks," Ellen said as she walked away. Tundra walked after her, not necessarily needing anything.

Hirune was the only one who didn't instantly go as she looked at the stairs to the basement.
