I sat around the dining table with all the family members, completely lost in my thoughts. Why on earth did I have to come to an era where there are no freaking chilies or potatoes?
I don't even want to imagine what else this world doesn't have.
I swear I'm going to lose my mind. First, I was dragged here without my permission, and now I have no idea how I'm supposed to survive in this place. The only thing that ever kept me going was food. But now... I can't even have that.
Why? Why did this have to happen to me?
What about my pizza? Burgers? Biryani?
Haleem? And so much more! I don't even think they have lentils( daal), so goodbye daal chawal too. I can't do this. I have to go back no matter what.
Feeling suddenly motivated by this intense internal monologue, I slapped my spoon onto the table. The loud noise snapped me back to reality-everyone was staring at me.
Great. Now I'm embarrassed.
Father Yang cleared his throat, probably to divert attention. I silently thanked him for that small rescue.
Junhao looked at me and asked softly, "Are you okay?"
I nodded.
Father Yang began speaking, "I guess Xueyi should start going to academy from today. She has had alot of days off"
I kept stirring the soup in front of me, not really paying attention. I'm still not used to this new name-Xueyi. Junhao glanced at me again, trying to understand what I wanted. Meanwhile, I was totally clueless, because I hadn't realized this conversation was about
me.
He repeated, "Are you okay with starting school today?"
"What?" I blurted out-almost shouted.
School? Seriously? I'm a freshly graduated university student.
I looked between Father Yang and Junhao likethey were speaking another language.
Father Yang continued calmly, "She can't just stay inside the house. She needs to meet people so her memories return soon. Also, both her brothers are there, so she won't get hurt."
I remained confused, but I knew I couldn't refuse Father Yang. That would be disrespectful. How hard can school really be?
I turned my gaze towards my two other brothers.
Yang Junjie continued eating calmly, as if none of this concerned him. Meanwhile, Junyue looked at me with a gentle smile. I returned it. He then spoke, "I won't let anybody hurt you."
I smiled softly. Let's see what this school looks like. I've suffered through more than sixteen years of modern education - this ancient school can't possibly scare me. I can handle it. Maybe once I go there, I'll finally figure out what I'm supposed to do in this world.
After breakfast, Xiaomei took me to my room to get ready for school. Honestly, I don't think this outfit looks anything like a uniform. It's a long silk robe in pink, and then she made me wear a slightly transpnt white robe over it. I didn't complain. There's already too much on my plate - better to just keep quiet for now.
After about fifteen minutes of getting ready, I left with Junjie and Junyue in the cart. Xiaomei and two other maids walked beside us.
Ten minutes later, we arrived at the school. At first glance, it looked like a co-ed school. But let me tell you - I was extremely wrong. I judged it too quickly just by its entrance. And yes, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
Once we entered the premises, I realized it covered a huge area. Junjie turned towards me and said, "Your classes are on the other side of this building. There will be many girls from different families. Xiaomei will help you get to know them. There are some royal family members too, so try not to disrespect them, okay?"
I nodded.
He continued, "Normally, we can't enter that section, but the teacher allowed us since you're still unwell. So if you need anything, or if something happens, call us."
He speaks so casually with me, but I can tell he cares. I smiled and hugged him. "As you say, big brother."
He looked shocked at first, so I quickly hugged Junyue too, waved at them, and walked inside with Xiaomei.
As they left, Junjie asked Junyue, "What was that gesture with her hands?"
Junyue just shrugged. They both went toward their side of the building.
When Xiaomei and I stepped inside, a bunch of girls stared at me all with different expressions.
I leaned slightly towards Xiaomei and whispered, "So... what subjects do they study here?"
