Lili's eyes widened slightly in realization as she went up the stairs, and within seconds, she came back alone.
Yushan didn't ask about Jun, wether he was coming down for dinner or not.
He kept his tone neutral, not wanting to sound overly concerned, not wanting to give Xin any reason to be suspicious. He told himself that as long as Jun had been informed about dinner, if he didn't come, that was his own problem.
Still, despite that rationalization, he found himself glancing toward the stairs repeatedly, an unconscious hope that Jun would appear.
Yushan was painfully aware of his own behavior.
He knew exactly how bad he had been treating Jun from the time they met.
And he recognized that all of it stemmed from his personal problems, from the unresolved tension he still carried from his entanglement with Xin.
And now he couldn't ignore the truth... he had been unfair to Jun.
Jun was new here.
