Chapter 11 - Arranged marriage

"Not so loud." Sorin shushed Cline before his shouting alerted the entire estate. "You are the only one I have told, and I intend to keep it that way until I have figured this out."

"But she is a human girl. Something like this shouldn't be possible." Cline started to pace in front of Sorin's desk as all kinds of questions rushed through his mind. "On top of that you aren't going to be able to keep something like this a secret for long. Members of the court have already started gossiping about your odd behavior towards a human slave girl."

Sorin was well aware of how quickly gossip and rumors could spread. He also knew how dangerous these rumors could be. "I need you to keep this gossip from getting out of hand Cline. The last thing I need is someone deciding that Evelyn should be delt with."

Cline groand at the request. He disliked having to spend more time than was necessary with the court. "And what does your mother say about this?" Cline sat back down in the chair as he waited for an answer.

"She thinks the girl is just a pet. A phase I am going through and when I tire of her I am expected to send her to stay with the other slaves or dispose of her." Sorin looked like he was in physical pain as he said those last words. "The bond is getting stronger by the day. I can feel her even now through the stone walls of the mountain." He was truly at a loss and his frustration showed as he beseached his cousin for help.

Cline got up with a sigh. "If it is a true mate bond there is little that can be done other than reject the bond and move on. However with the girl being human the rejection would most likely kill her."

He took a step back as he heard a deep feral growl escape from Sorin's throat. "But of course that should be a last resort." Cline continued quickly before he lost his life to the prince's wrath.

"My apologies." Sorin breathed as he attempted to calm his rage. "I do not know what came over me."

Cline walked to the door and opened it. "I would suggest starting in the library. There is a section of old tomes and journals that might be of use. Barring that you should think of perhaps taking a cold shower." He grinned and waggled his eyebrows before he closed the door behind him.

Sorin was left alone with his thoughts. What he really wanted to do was go to Evelyn and ravish her. He wanted to dominate her and give her pleasure, and most of all he wanted to dig his fangs deep into her and place his mark upon her neck. His beast roared in agreement as his heart started to hammer in his chest and his arousal became apparent.

Maybe he really did need a cold shower.

Sorin stood from his chair and adjusted himself before he left his office to head to his suite of rooms. The walk through the halls helped to calm his lust clouded mind until he caught the scent of someone he was not happy to see. That lust quickly turned to hatred the moment he saw the woman that was leaning on his bedroom door.

Jora was tall and slender. Her lean muscles showing under the deep blue mermaid style dress she was wearing. Her eyes were the colour of the ocean, and her silver hair sparkled in the ambient light from the sconces that decorated the walls in the long hallway. Jora was a water dragon, she was beautiful and powerful, and Sorin hated her. He had hated her since they were children. She had always been stuck up and flaunted her parents wealth and their position in the court. Jora was cold and calculating, and Sorin knew that the only thing she desired from him was power and the opportunity to become queen. It left a vile taste in his mouth as he approached her.

"There you are Prince Sorin" Jora sang as she gave him a bright smile. "I missed you while you were gone."

"I have no time for you Jora." Sorin said coldly as he reached the door to his room.

"You are always too busy to see me." She pouted. "But that will change very soon." Jora leaned on Sorin's muscular frame and breathed in his scent of shadow and moonlight. "Your mother has decided that I am to be your chosen mate. We have already started planning for the wedding ans the mate ceremony." She smiled as she looked up into Sorin's golden eyes. He quickly grabbed her shoulders and pushed her away.

"Let me be perfectly clear with you Jora. You may have been my mother's choice, but you will never be my chosen mate." He growled as he let the girl go and quickly entered his room, locking the door behind him.

"You can't hide from me forever!" Jora yelled. "Our marriage has been arranged since we were young. We will be married weather you choose to mark me or not!"

Sorin silently waited by the door until he heard Jora's angry footsteps fade down the hallway.

He had forgotten all about Jora when he saw Evelyn and the mate bond had started to form. She was going to be a huge problem, especially when she finds out that Evelyn is his true mate.

Sorin groand as he walked across his room to the bathroom. He had too much to deal with and not enough time or information. So to clear his head Sorin decided to take that shower even though he no longer needed the cold water to temper his lust. Jora had done that job already.

The pounding hot water from the shower helped to relax his taught muscles and clear all the noise from his head. Sorin decided that the first thing he would do was to check on Evelyn then head to the library to see if he could at least find some answers to the mountain of questions that started to build up because of one beautiful human girl.
