Expression be damned, Travis wasn't about to get baited into apologizing to the so-called sky gods, because that was exactly where all this nonsense was heading. He ignored the eyes on him and rubbed his arms together, shivering from the cold.
"Just come in, Derek. He heard you…" Travis called out again, and Derek stumbled in—drenched from head to toe, shivering like a Christmas goat.
Travis pitied the poor fellow and coaxed Kai into lighting a fire. Thank God it worked, because Kai normally wouldn't lift a finger for Derek's comfort, but the desperation to win Travis's heart pushed him. And after all that effort, he only received a "thanks" and a kiss on the cheek. Nothing more.
The night was still young, and the moon—once their only helper—had vanished, leaving them buried in sheer darkness.
