Chapter 19 - In-House Improv Game Roster

The day before the one month anniversary of Shihon's introduction to Liohime was at its ending point.

It had been another not-so-hectic day, which was mostly filled with a boorish Liohime finding things to do around the house and Shihon following him with vigor, not letting him out of her sight.

Now that it was nighttime and they had both gotten into bed, they were ready to sleep.

Well, Liohime was, for the most part.

"You're acting as if the world is ending tomorrow, Shihon. Chill out."

"H-How can I, when tomorrow's our one-month anniversary!?"

She was darting and sprinting all over the bedroom, shaking with excitement, and in her opinion, for good reason.

Tomorrow, they would both go out on a special outing, and only Liohime knew where they would be going.

It felt like a real date was approaching, one that would change the trajectory of their relationship forever, and every hour that passed brought her closer to enjoying that perfect date with him.

Her heart could not stop pounding. She bounced around to and fro, sometimes subconsciously transforming between her two forms in ecstasy.

"Good grief," uttered Liohime. "Go to sleep already. I don't wanna miss out on hours of sleep again because of you-"

His collar was tugged by Shihon's hand and his face was pulled in, stopping just a couple inches away from her own face as she screamed at him with excitement: "It's tomorrow!!!"

"-hk, I know!!"

"Hehehe…hahaha…HAHAHA!!"

I think she's losing her sanity.

Anyway, as you can see, the Magical Beast Girl was looking forward to what could be one of the greatest moments of her life.

"FUCKING WHYYYYYYYYYSDAFBOFHQIWDAKAJWDIWDA-(undiscernable language and slurs)!?"

Yeah, well, the next day had arrived, and…

…It was a downpour.

Liohime dragged himself out of the bedroom as Shihon stood by the living room window, venting out all of her frustration at the inclement weather.

The former had endured a horrible night of barely any sleep. Still, as soon as he noticed the rain that continued to torment the area, the fire in his eyes rekindled.

"I forgot to check today's weather forecast yesterday," he noted as he pulled out his phone from his pocket, scrolling to find the weather app. "Oh well, looks like it's gonna be basically raining all day today-"

"WHYYYYY!?"

"I'm sorry, Shihon, I know that you were looking forward to today, but it looks like we'll have to call the surprise outing off."

Shihon slumped onto her knees in resignation, and Liohime immediately turned around to head back into the bedroom to sleep for the rest of the day.

"Welp, I got some sleep to catch up on so-"

"UWAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!"

"W-What the-!!?"

He twisted his body around to find his partner in a state of despair, holding her head and bursting into crocodile tears before she lunged at him and embraced his legs.

"Hey, what are you doing!?"

"MY LIFE IS OVERRRR!!!"

"...Haaaah."

Feeling a sense of guilt, he could only stare at the sobbing dark-skinned woman who trembled at his feet.

She was deeply hurt, which was understandable, and Liohime had a bad feeling that this bad mood could worsen and cause an irritable day if he couldn't do something to alleviate the pain.

But…what the hell can I even do…? he pondered.

Suddenly, an idea popped up. A really strange one, but as he thought it over in his head, it could just work.

"Shihon. Stop crying, you big baby."

"B-But….but…"

"Cause we're gonna make up for this setback with an improvisation!"

"Huh?"

He pulled her up and wiped her tears before making a big declaration:

"I call it…Liohime and Shihon's Improv In-House Game Roster!"

Her eyes widened as she now became attentive. "In-House…Game Roster?"

"Yeah, that's right," Liohime affirmed. "I haven't thought much about the details, but basically, we can spend special time together with different games that we can play in the house! What do you think could be good game suggestions, Shihon?"

She continued to sniffle, but held her chin up with her right hand, pondering for a few seconds.

"W-Well…I'm not so sure…would hide-and-seek be okay?"

"Huh, that's not bad. We can work with that as a starter. Some things that I can think of are some board games, two truths and a lie, maybe a pillow fight, oh, and tag and 'guess who' would be good too, don't you think?"

Shihon's smile slowly formed, and she nodded with renewed joy.

"Yeah!"

"Alright, then it's settled! We're gonna have a great time with our new plan set in motion! A little rain won't be enough to dampen the fun, right!?"

"R-Right!"

Liohime and Shihon exchanged flashy grins, and the latter embraced the former with a tight hug.

"Woah…what's this all about…"

"Thank you, Master."

"Hm? For what?"

She hesitated, but then quipped, "For finally being fun, obviously."

"Eh? 'Finally'? What's up with that? I'm a guy who's always fun."

I hope he's better at setting this plan into motion than he is at being good at lying, because this guy's a terrible liar.

"Also," Shihon continued, "thank you for deciding to take the time to play with me rather than to go to sleep."

"O-Oh…yeah, no problem."

Realizing that his sacrifice had not gone unnoticed, Liohime returned the embrace with warmth.

After taking breakfast, the duo brainstormed the final list of the games and their order.

"First off is Hide-and-Seek," mentioned Liohime, "and second will be 'Two Truths and a Lie', after which will be 'Guess Who'. Then, we'll move on to board games, then pillow fight, and then we'll end it off with Tag."

Shihon gulped as the young man that sat next to her finished writing the list on a piece of paper and attached it to the fridge with a small magnet.

After they both stood and monitored the list once again, they exchanged glances.

"You ready, Shihon?"

"I'm ready, Master."

"Then may the best person win."

With that, the games had begun.
