"I am Billy Milly, and this domain is my slaughterhouse."
The young boy confidently declared those words, and Shihon blinked, responding with silence that drowned out the atmosphere between them.
A few seconds passed, and the boy named Billy who had single-handedly defeated the other two girls by himself tilted his head slightly, awaiting a reaction. Sure enough, a roar of laughter emerged from Shihon's lips as she clutched onto her stomach and leaned forward.
"BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!?!?"
"Eh? W-Why are you laughing, dipshit!?"
"DID YOUR PARENTS' ONLY TWO BRAINCELLS DECIDE TO GIVE UP WHEN CHOOSING A NAME FOR YOU!? BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!"
"Tch….why you….it's a great fucking name!!!"
Honestly, who wakes up one day and says, "Yeah, Billy Milly is amazing!" That kid's parents' do not love him, I'm afraid.
Shihon gasped for air and placed her hands on her belly that began to hurt from the hysterical laughter. She quickly calmed down, but her laughs had faded into chuckles.
"Fucking hell, kid, that was something. Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking you down."
"Huh? Did you hit your head or something?" Billy questioned, clearly confused. "Didn't you just see me crush my opponents in an instant like it was nothing? There's still time to run away, you know, and I won't blame you if you do-"
"Sorry, but that's not fucking happening. Not anymore."
"Oh?"
She spun the gun around her finger from the trigger and stared him down with a nasty glare and a sly grin.
"Unfortunately for you, I'm kinda burnt out from having to run away from people all the time, and I have to test my physical abilities sooner or later. So, it's gonna be either you or me who goes down here and now, kid."
"...How interesting."
The young boy cocked his head to the other side and licked his lips before stretching his arms, and then got into a battle stance, and Shihon followed suit.
Billy put his hands behind his back and announced his name as Shihon's competitor once more.
"Billy Milly, the eleven year-old who has crushed six opponents without fail."
And Shihon furrowed her eyebrows, with a bead of sweat trickling down the side of her face as she replied, using a fake name that she used to register for the game with:
"Emily, the one who promised herself to achieve a perfect victory in order to prove her worth to her apprentice, Liohime Kitagami!"
Then, silence encapsulated the area once more, but only for a second. A second was all that Billy and Shihon needed to prepare to advance.
Make no mistake, you are not reading about a fight to the death in the wilderness, you are reading about two kids shooting each other with non-lethal laser guns.
They dashed forward at the same time, fired shots simultaneously, and twisted their bodies to dodge each other's incoming attack as if in perfect sync.
As if on a grand stage with a multitude of spectators watching on in awe, their movements elevated into speeding sensations of dances across the field as they weaved, crouched, leapt, skidded and ran while carefully and cautiously planning their next shots with precision, knowing that their ammunition was limited.
Shihon spun, firing three lasers as she locked onto Billy several feet away, one after another as he dashed and sidestepped in order to close the distance.
Ready to pull the trigger once more, she tried to predict his next movement change as he kicked off towards her. However, with a towering foam pillar on his right, he immediately jumped towards it and planted both feet into its side while in midair, rocketing off of it and changing his trajectory before she could even fire.
Time seemed to stop as the speeding figure flew past her horizontally, but his eyes remained focused, aiming the gun at her back and straight at the circular target. Still…
I…can't lose!!
Shihon quickly glanced over at the corner of her eyes and instantly turned, and just as she f]pulled the trigger, Billy rolled over while suspended in the air, and with his back facing the ground, ready to crash almost headfirst into the field, he redirected his aim to his right and fired, while dodging her attack at the same time.
His laser was not shot at her, but at a mirror within his sight that was angled towards her. In the Glassy Field, a section of the Laser Tag arena that mainly consisted of specialized mirrors for redirecting lasers, Billy shot at one and mirrored a perfect shot straight into the green circle strapped to her stomach.
There is not one Laser Tag game serious enough for him to be doing all this.
His body crashed onto the floor with a hard impact, and a PING was heard at the exact same time.
Shihon had lost one life, due to Billy's incredible split-second multitasking of dodging in midair and firing a shot at an angled mirror that took her down.
She gnashed her teeth, stunned, but immediately counterattacked, as she powered straight at his body in milliseconds.
Her dark presence hovered towards him as the distance between them shortened instantly and it shook Billy to his core.
-hk, I can't dodge! Gotta trade hits!
He upped the gun, but with an extraordinary spin kick by Shihon, it had been sent flying out of his hand, and the next thing he knew was a cold feeling of dread.
With inhuman speed, Shihon had countered and gave off a demonic grin from air to air as she descended with her laser gun pointed at his forehead with point-blank range.
PING!
"Not done yet!!!" Shihon screamed gleefully, her heart racing.
She planned to pin her opponent down to finish the job, but Billy was quick and rolled out of the way, his back still aching from the surge of pain that he had received when landing hard.
He picked up his weapon and fired, and Shihon dodged, but was quick to sidestep the rebound from a mirror behind her that picked up his attack and sent it back.
These mirrors are pissing me off!
She blitzed into a short range of attack, and Billy shot twice, not at her, but to northeast and west of his body, hoping to catch a rebound strike as he slid past her with ease. Unbeknownst to him those shots continued to rebound in a lucky turn of events, being unintentionally transmitted from mirror to mirror from different areas of the battlefield, until one laser finally hit the ground and dissipated while the other was on its way to return to Shihon while he struggled to avoid her.
She tried to parry away his gun once more but the young boy moved quickly, flipping the gun into the air and snatching hers from her hand, almost pulling the trigger from a close range before Shihon smacked it out of his hand hastily, causing both weapons to go fly upwards between the two figures who watched on, and then descend into both of their outstretched hands.
Without hesitation, they both caught each other's laser guns and aimed straight at each other's heads and just as they were about to pull onto the trigger while the stray laser beam was a millisecond away from striking Shihon out without her noticing-
The glowing color of their weapons faded away, the sound within them whirred, and their colored targets both on their foreheads, backs and stomachs powered down right as they both pulled hard on the trigger at the same time with a…
Click!
Both Billy and Shihon stared into each other's eyes with no reaction, without flinching as both of their gun barrels touched each other's forehead. They had been so locked into the game that they even knew what had happened before the announcer declared:
"The first phase is over! Only eight people remain as all others have now been eliminated! Please return to your designated starting bases and await phase two in a few minutes!"
