Chuck stared at the system screen in confusion, like he didn't understand what he was reading. Looking at the information he received on the new skill he was gifted, Chuck couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
[ Skill ]
[ Forced absorption technique ]
[ When activated, this skill enables the user to absorb all types and forms of energy, converting it into Harelm energy, and adding it to the user's Harelm energy pool.]
"Really? Absorption of energy? How exactly does this help me with combat? I've stirred a lot of trouble by fighting against Bobby, and I need substantial means to defend myself when need be," Chuck thought as his brows furrowed.
"This skill only adds more points to my Harelm energy, I need something that'll directly be of help with combat for fuck's sake!"
Chuck thought that the new skill he had just received was quite useless, because it only added more energy for him, and it wasn't what he needed. Proceeding to read the rest of the information, Chuck caught something that he found intriguing.
[ <> The user can decide whether or not to add the converted energy to the Harelm energy pool. When the user absorbs a certain amount of stored energy, the infernal guide may be unlocked. ]
Chuck's curiosity piqued when he read the rest of the information. He had gone through the system interface repeatedly, trying to discover anything that might prove helpful. And during his search, he has never seen or come across anything like an infernal guide. It was something new to him.
"Infernal guide? This is something new. And what the hell is an infernal guide supposed to be?"
[ Infernal guide>>¿¿¿???¿¿¿ ]
[ Error ]
"Ohh this is just great!" Chuck yelled furiously, "you expect me to lock away any energy that I absorb for something that I don't have any knowledge about?" Chuck said in frustration.
"This is getting pretty annoying. At least when I was weak, I didn't have to worry about things like an INFERNAL FUCKING GUIDE!"
Gritting his teeth in annoyance, Chuck pulled on his hair so hard that if he used any more strength, he was going to damage his scalp.
"Alright. I just have to avoid any mage that is affiliated with Bobby in any way. If they try to attack me, I'll run. Hopefully I'll get more quests that'll make me level up as soon as possible, cause I'm sure that boomerang trick won't fool anyone again."
Chuck had a lot on his plate at the moment, and things weren't going to get any easier. He also remembered that the combat teacher, Zhul, was also a lingering problem. Chuck didn't know what Zhul was planning, only that he was coming for him.
"Is this my life now? Is this really how I'm gonna live, with a target on my back? I guess I was always a magnet for trouble huh…"
In the middle of his thoughts, he heard a bang on his door, almost like someone was trying to force their way in.
"What? It's too early. Is someone already here to attack me?" Chuck thought, as his paranoia was already starting to kick in. Quickly getting up from his worn out chair, he started looking around his room, trying to find anything of relevance that might help him fend his attackers off.
His energy was still exhausted, meaning that he couldn't fight anyone even if he wanted to. Chuck's mind swirled in panic as he heard the constant banging sounds on his door.
But then something changed. The feeling of dread subsided the moment he heard a familiar voice on the other side of the door.
"It seems like he's not in."
"Or maybe he's in, but he's avoiding us. Hey Chuck if you don't open this door right now, I'm gonna break it down!!!"
Chuck recognized the two voices he just heard, It was Kaiden and Erik's.
"I know you're in there Chucky!"
Chuck could hear Erik's menacing voice even louder. Knowing that the banging sounds came from people that he somewhat knew, his heart settled a little. He headed for the door, and slowly unlocked it with precision, still having a bit of distrust.
The moment the door was an inch open, Erik blasted it with extreme force, bursting inside the room. He caught sight of Chuck and immediately flew over to him.
Not wasting any time, Erik grabbed Chuck by the neck, using his other hand, he created a drill made out of pure and condensed air. The drill spinned with intensity, making the curtains and papers scatter around in the room.
Chuck was caught off guard by this sudden movement. Startled, he tried to calm Erik down, "h.. hey man what the hell is this? Will you just calm the fuck down," Chuck said in desperation.
Hearing Chuck speak only made Erik even more violent. He pushed the spinning drill further, making it just inches away from Chuck's face.
"Calm the fuck down? Maybe I'll be calm after altering your facial composition," Erik said with rage.
Kaiden, still standing at the entrance of the door, saw the uprising commotion. She quickly went inside the room and locked the door behind her. Seeing as Erik locked Chuck in a tight position, with the drill about to make contact with Chuck's face, she did the only thing she could think of.
Stretching out her hands forward little sparks of electricity started enveloping them. Kaiden proceeded to pull her hands backwards, and with a calculated precision, she shot them forward.
Exiting her hands were blue lighting bolts that seemed to evaporate the air itself. The bolts travelled at an impossible speed, reaching Erik in no time. The bolts made contact with Erik's back and he could immediately feel the raging currents flowing inside his being.
"Arrrggghhh," Erik groaned as he weakly let go of Chuck and collapsed. The wind drill dispersed into nothingness.
"You dare attack me? After knowing his secret. He's a goddamn liar!" Erik said, as he weakly crawled away from both Kaiden and Chuck.
"You need to chill out alright?" Kaiden yelled, "I'm sure Chuck can explain himself. Right Chuck?"
Chuck was stunned, still in a bit of shock. Some of the electrical sparks made contact with Chuck, as a result of Erik holding onto his neck during the attack. Looking at Kaiden and the result of her attack, he was reminded how powerful Kaiden really was.
"Right Chuck!!!" Kaiden's voice rang out again, even louder this time.
"Yeah.. yeah. I can explain," Chuck said with a shaky voice.
Erik, already recovering from Kaiden's attack, stood up slowly, staring at Chuck with an enraged expression.
"Go on then, why did you keep your powers a secret?"
