Maya was thrown onto the cold floor again. She shivered, sobbing. She felt so violated, so hurt. And while at it, Medea asked questions about the previous night. Then Maya blurted out the name she shouldn't have.
"Hexa," she said. The name of an outsider infront of the queen.
"Pardon–?! You were with Hexa?! The damn monster that just walched in here and started acting like she owns the place?!" Medea shouted at Maya, before softening and lowering her voice. "You need to make the right decision. Me or her? Your job is on the line as well as your social status. Choose well," she continued.
Maya didn't answer. She was staring at the ground, her head down.
"Just forget her. You better stop sneaking out. And report to prisoner 086. She was reported to break into the Nullbound research facility and was brought to the dungeon today," Medea said before tossed a new Nullbounder uniform on her.
Maya sat up and put the uniform on. Even though her energy was drained out and she just wanted to lay there and rest, she had to get back on duty as a Nullbounder.
She stood up with the help of the edge of a table next to her, ignoring the pain she was experiencing. She took a step forward, trying to regain her balance. Her legs were weak, but she definitely could walk, or so she thought.
"May I at least check outside first?" Maya asked.
"You have five minutes," Medea said.
Maya bowed before limping her way to the front door of the castle. She opened the door and walked as for as she could. When she reached her maximum, she fell on her knees on the patch of grass beneath her legs. She came to an end of walking for a while.
Her eyes closed, trying to stop the ringing in her ears that started recently. She was hopelessly trying to get up, but no, her legs were too weak. She felt her head hit the ground, unable to do anything.
She was brought back to her senses. Infront of her, there was a woman with green hair. The woman queen Medea had warned about in the past years.
The woman's hand was on Maya's head, releasing some green glow in it's wake. Behind the woman, she saw two people. One was a teenager with white hair, the other one was shorter with dark, violet blue hair.
Maya didn't consider them as a threat. For now, at least. She sat up surprisingly easily.
"Thank you," she muttered.
There are still good people out there, I guess, Maya thought.
The woman just nodded. Her smile never went unseen.
Remy, on the other hand walked up right next to Maya and talked to her.
"I need to find my sister. Do you know where she is? " Remy asked.
"Oh, the purple-haired one?" Maya responded.
"Yes, her," Remy said. Their eyes had a flicker of hope in them.
"I'll lead the way," Maya told them, then stood up, painless.
She began walking, making sure the three others followed her.
She walked them to Hexa's tent. Nobody was inside. Strange.
"Is this some kind of trick to get me to the hands of Nullbounders?" Althea said, furrowing her eyebrows for the first time infront of her two new friends.
"No, of course not. She's probably in the village or something like that," Maya said, no fear evident in her eyes.
The three then walked off towards the village. No thank you or anything. Well, it was time for Maya to return on duty. She went back to the castle.
She arrived att he castle. Medea wasn't there. Good. Maya stood next to the table, grabbing a sheet containing the records of this '086'. No photo of the criminal or anything. The only things writted on the paper were 'number: 086', 'gender: female', 'crimes: several homicides, break in and attempted theft of Nullfire', and 'sentence: 3 years minimum'.
What a light sentence, Maya thought. Criminals with such crimes usually had a life or death sentence.
