He naturally knew about KING's call and had rushed over at once.
Child Emperor replied, "It should be that Uncle KING subdued the robot."
Then turned and headed for his lab. For him, analyzing combat data mattered far more than reporting to the brass.
That precise construction… that familiar energy core…
And that cold-blooded attitude that treated an entire city as a test site—grabbing random people for weapons experiments…
"Doctor—was it you?" Child Emperor murmured in his heart, a name on the tip of his tongue—Metal Knight.
Other than him, Child Emperor couldn't think who else would have and freely deploy a weapon of this level.
Watching Child Emperor's back, Sitch didn't call him back.
S-Class heroes were all quirky; Child Emperor was one of the better ones, but Sitch still avoided engaging unless necessary.
He shook his head. Back to his job.
"KING doesn't live in City Z—why did he suddenly go there? Have you found out?" he asked an intel officer.
"Ah, not yet…" The intel officer, not looking up, answered tensely.
"Mr. KING's personal info is top-level confidential. We're trying via public surveillance and purchase records and other peripheral data, but no leads yet."
Just then, another staffer remembered "the deafening 'dong-dong' sound" Smiling Man had mentioned from City Z. Could it be…
He immediately shared the idea with Sitch.
"Dong-dong… the Emperor Engine!" Sitch murmured.
The staffer grew excited. "Exactly! We thought that was the monster's racket—but now, wasn't that the signature aura of Mr. KING?"
"Could it be… that Mr. KING had already sensed the monster's disguise?"
"So the 'Dragon' Skinny Bean Sprout disguised itself as 'Wolf'?" Sitch mused. "That would make Smiling Man's account persuasive…"
But a new question came fast.
"Then how did KING find out? And why didn't he report it to the Association?"
An assistant supplied a plausible-sounding answer:
"Maybe, as the strongest man on the surface, Mr. KING's perception far exceeds ordinary people. He's been silently watching each city, so he could spot anomalies in City Z at once."
"As for not reporting… perhaps, to Mr. KING, taking out a 'Dragon' really isn't worth mentioning?"
Absurd as it sounded, they had nothing better. Sitch nodded—persuaded.
He couldn't exactly ask why KING went to City Z—that was the man's privacy. Sitch had no desire to offend an S-Class hero.
