Chapter 23 - Wedding Night

Viona's POV

I watched Rafael still giggling, mocking the sacred wine bottle from his grandfather. 

It amused me how rebellious he was toward his family, who actually seemed genuinely caring in a healthy way. 

So opposite of me, who never dared to be defiant until his very presence affected me to.

My gaze darted between the freshly signed contract and the Jack Hapkins brown envelope.

So, he was actually planning to leave?

I placed the contract papers on the table and walked toward the dinner trolley.

"It came with a wooden cylinder. I got curious and opened it after your grandfather left this afternoon," I confessed quietly.

Rafael looked at me with his casual smugness.

"You went against his word. You must know you needed to open the cylinder lid with me," he pressed.

I sighed and took the food tray from the trolley, moving to the plush sofa and serving the meal onto the low coffee table.
