Chapter 38 - My baby...

Julius's legs gave out as he then kneeled on the floor--The guard beside him turned and quickly grabbed his shoulders.

Julius? up! what are you doing son? he asked, as his grip on him persisted.

But he was beyond the point of listening.

His heart clenched as his tear-blurred gaze darted out to the night--The thought of her now being somewhere far-Away from him again was...

Julius's hands clenched as he then rose up to his feet--Quickly he dashed to his horse--He then set out under the night sky--Determined to find her--Even if it meant no return.

----------------

"The moon and the stars--My child, look up to them... for they are our guiders"

Flaytus's clouded gaze fell upon the dark inky sky--The stars were gone. His breath hitched--The moon? barely there.

It was as if they were against him in their entirety.

The low thud of his horse came to a halt as he then stopped and hopped off. Guiders they say... he murmured as his eyes darted across the stillness of the forest.

He then continued.

Meanwhile...

The fierce thud of Julius's horse came to a halt as he then quickly hopped off. He sighed as he rubbed the back of his horse.

He breathed out painfully as he gazed at the soil before him--Desperate to find at least a trace. Then--The image of Eleanor played out in his head--At how he had kissed her like he couldn't get enough--And how she had let him.

Julius began to walk, clenching his fists as tears ran inside his armored face.

The way she had pressed herself against him--His arms then sprung out as he then pressed himself against the rough bark of a tree as he sobbed violently.

The way the men had muffled her voice--The desperation and the pure terror in her eyes as she watched him lay on the ground with a thud--At how guilt panged at his face when he felt his vision go blur.

She had trusted him--Yet he couldn't save her.

And now...this was the second time.

--Should be the last one...

Julius's arms then reached for his dagger--His eyes were hollow as tears still pooled over it--He then hovered it over his neck.

Just as he was about to connect it to the nape of his neck--(Neigh*) His horse--Tovaris jolted in distress as if to urgently convey something.

Julius's gaze shot to it--He then walked towards Tovaris.

Tovaris...his arm reached out to graze his fur--Just as he was about to do it--Tovaris began to sprint in an unknown direction.

Julius--In a panic--ran. TOVARIS!!! STOP!!! his yelling echoed through the forest as Tovaris continued on its walking spree.

Though soon it abruptly stopped--The deep brown eyes of Tovaris darted. Julius then slowed down--His eyebrows furrowed as he made his way to him.

Tovaris...! why did--His eyes then fell to the small cottage Infront of him. He gazed at Tovaris then back at it. a feeling of uncertainty fell upon him--Though he found himself walking to it.

Soon he reached it--His palm ever so slightly grazed against the hatch as the door opened with a creek.

Inside--There was a not a trace of a living being. Julius's gaze darted as he then soon explored the other rooms--His foot felt heavy against the weakly mended wooden floor.

------

Eleanor's eyes fluttered opened as the low sound of the wood cracking above her was imminent--Her heart raced, has he came?

Her eyes then darted up as she breathed his name once again--Though it was muffled by the cloth wrapping her mouth.

Her eyes went hollow as realization struck--Whoever it was they probably couldn't hear her as they have most definitely searched all the rooms except for the basement.

She then felt the sound of the footsteps fade away-

- (Mmm...!) mmm....

Eleanor's eyes began to swell up with tears as she struggled beyond her power--Soon the sound of the footsteps vanished.

As tears flowed down Eleanor's cheek--This was it... maybe this was her end.

Just as it seemed all hope was lost--The weakly attached door flung opened--As an armored knight barged in.

His eyes widened as he saw a frail Eleanor--At how terrified she looked.

He then began to walk towards her--The sound of her frail breath filled in the air as he reached out for her--Eleanor flinched instinctively.

Please don't hurt me, good sir... a low whisper left her quivering lips--as her blonde ringlets clung to her frame.

Julius's eyes then softened as realization set in--His face wasn't visible--It was armored.

He then reached out for her face once again--His fingers ever so slightly grazed her face--As his eyes darted absent mindedly to her quivered lips.

She was staring at him, terrified--The thought alone made him clench his fist--Because once she had clung to him--pressed herself against him as if she was safe by being just in his arms.

Eleanor's gaze was clouded yet every touch of his send a shiver through her spine--It didn't feel malicious--It simply felt familiar.

Her nimble fingers then grasped his--Making him flinch.

She then gazed up at him--Who are you, my good sir?
