Chapter 39 - Who are you...?

The night seemed to have calmed down as Eleanor and Julius both rode on Tovaris. Julius's fingers clenched around the rubber lash as his left arm grasped Eleanor's waist firmly.

His eyes gaze at her--At her flowy blonde ringlets--His fingers then twirled around a strand--Easily intertwining as if it was a solved a puzzle.

Eleanor...

--His voice was low with meaning--Aching with longing.

Though Eleanor's eyes were closed--Her lush lashes hovered under her eyes--As she clung to him like before...

He watched her in adoration--The thud of his heart matched with the horse's steps as they then made their way in that hour of oblivion.

His lips were curled in a bittersweet smile--As the past memories of them riding a horse played out on his mind.

It was the spring of July 21, 1003, BCE

Those were the earliest time of their love--They were just adolescents. A period where Julius had been coy--perhaps more than Eleanor.

Eleanor and Julius walked--Their hands intertwining with each other as she seemed to do all the talking. Her lips moved in a gracious manner--Her eyebrows raised ever so slightly to emphasize each and every one of her words.

Julius was beyond the point of listening--His eyes were on her

--No! glued to her, to her tiny frame, how deeply engrossed she seemed--Just then, her nimble fingers tapped at his hair--Softly ruffling the messy strands--as she locked eyes with him. Her lips were curled in a soft smile as she gazed at his dazed face.

Julius...?

she murmured tilting her head. her voice coming softer than expected. Julius's gaze was still locked onto her effervescent lips--Just then his gaze went to her eyes--He then blinked at her questioning stance.

He lowered his head and nodded a "I agree" Eleanor's eyebrow furrowed-Though she didn't press it and continued venting about something. He then smiled as they made their way to the stallion.

(Neigh! *) the horse's front legs went up as it arched its head back in a valiant manner--Eleanor stared at it-At it dark brown orbs gazing back at her.

Julius watched the both of them--As her arms sprung out and grazed its fur--She glanced at him, what is his name? Eleanor looks back at the horse, smiling. have you named him?

Julius smiled--Then his gaze fluttered up as if to think--His Adam's apple ever so bulged out. Eleanor's gaze had returned to him--She stared at him, then quickly tore her gaze away before he could glance back.

He smiled softly and began walking in her direction--Finally standing near her, his arms sprung out to graze the horse--He then tilted his head.

"Tovaris"

Eleanor shot him a look as a soft smile played at her name--"Tovaris"... she murmured as she glanced back at the horse.

Just then--"Julius...I wish to ride on Tovaris"

Julius's heart quickened its pace--He then stammered--Ride on Tovaris...? wouldn't we be in close approximate?

Eleanor gave him a mischievous smile--Of course! or are you worried that you might cause me to fall? she asked--No! she challenged him--a single eyebrow of her was raised as she clasped her waist.

Julius then rubbed the back of his head as he then nodded reluctantly.

Soon, she was already getting on top of the horse and sat Infront of him--Her back firmly pressed against her chest as their breaths then turned into one.

Eleanor's gaze fell to the floor as she felt the low-yet rapid thrum of his heart--His fingers hesitated between holding her waist.

Just then--Her fingers clasped his--Making him flinch. She then slowly guided his hands to her waist--There...

Julius's face flushed as he then gazed at his arms now perfectly wrapped around her waist. Eleanor glanced at him from the corner of her eye--

"Julius, are you going to stare into oblivion or begin?"

Y-Yes, Julius then quickly nodded.

Eleanor let out a soft chuckle at his coy behavior as they then began to ride into the serene evening of the beauty village of Ruthenia--Under the golden hue of a sky.

Julius--Now stared at her still motionless body--He had gotten much bolder from then--The bitter smile that played at his lips vanished as they soon then entered the city of Byzantium.
