Liv's gaze lifted, calm yet cold. "Oh? Is that so?" she asked softly.
"Yes, Your Grace," Reina replied, her voice honeyed.
Liv merely nodded again. She wanted to correct them, to remind them of their place, but she restrained herself. She still knew too little about this northern world and about these women. In this life, she had chosen Jay, and with that choice came the burden of caution.
"That's right, Your Grace," Tania suddenly added with a bright, almost careless tone. "After all, some of us have already shared nights with His Grace."
The air turned still. Liv's fingers tightened slightly around her teacup, though her expression did not change. Her heart gave a small, traitorous jolt, so Jay had touched them, after all.
She had once believed he was not that kind of man. But perhaps she had been naïve. Of course Jay was skilled in bed too skilled to be inexperienced.
"And there are some," Reina added smoothly, "who were once His Grace's favorites."
