Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

After the video ended, everyone walked out of the theater.

Thor, who had been excited and cheerful at first, now looked grim and tense.

"Natasha," he said solemnly, "take me to New Mexico. I must find a way to lift my hammer and return to Asgard!"

Seeing Thor's serious expression, Natasha replied calmly, "No problem. But before that, we need to analyze the video we just watched."

Thor frowned impatiently. "What's there to analyze? My mother was killed by the Dark Elves, and Loki was strangled by that purple-skinned monster. I have to—"

"Thor, calm down!" Natasha cut him off sharply.

Seeing Thor's face twisted with anger, she continued, "The videos we saw are all about the future. Since we already know what's going to happen, we can find a way to prevent it. But if you only know the result without understanding the cause, no matter what you do, you might still end up with the same ending."

She paused and added bluntly, "Besides, even if you rush to New Mexico right now, you still can't lift your hammer, can you?"

Thor's shoulders slumped. His anger faded into frustration as he sat down heavily in a chair.

"I can't believe Asgard will face so many tragedies in the future… my mother, and even Loki…"

Natasha gently patted his shoulder in comfort before opening her laptop.

Moments later, a video call connected—Tony Stark, Nick Fury, and Steve Rogers appeared on the screen.

Steve looked a bit startled. "Good morning," Natasha greeted. "Captain Rogers, welcome back to the world—seventy years later."

"Thank you," Steve replied politely, glancing around. "The technology of this era is truly impressive."

Tony smirked. "Of course. In the seventy years you spent as a popsicle, the world's tech evolved faster than your vintage moral compass could imagine."

Then he added, "By the way, Natasha—what's going on with Thor?"

Natasha explained everything that had just happened.

Tony nodded. "Good job, Natasha. Even if Thor went to New Mexico right now, it wouldn't change a thing."

Nick Fury then spoke, his one eye fixed on Thor. "Thor, from what we've seen, your exile to Earth was orchestrated by your brother, Loki."

Thor took a deep breath and shook his head. "I don't care whether I was exiled because of Loki's schemes. I just want to save my mother—and Loki—in the future."

Nick Fury nodded slightly. "Loki's plot to exile you stemmed from jealousy. But according to the video, during that same time, he also planned to assassinate his real father—the Frost Giant King, Laufey."

"Tell me, Thor," Fury continued, "is Laufey an enemy of Asgard?"

"To be precise," Thor said firmly, "he's Asgard's greatest enemy."

He went on to explain briefly, "I was exiled by my father's anger after I led warriors to Jotunheim without permission."

At that, Steve Rogers, who had been listening silently, finally spoke up. "I may not know the laws of Asgard, but from what I've seen, Loki's actions had mixed results. Yes, he exiled you, but he also helped Asgard eliminate its biggest enemy. From his perspective, maybe he just wanted his father's approval—to prove that whatever you could do, he could do too."

He looked at Thor seriously. "But in the video, Loki was imprisoned. According to Asgard's laws, would he really be jailed for that?"

"Of course not!" Thor replied immediately. "Even though Loki wanted to destroy Jotunheim and kill the Frost Giants, he didn't succeed. And…" Thor suddenly sat up straight, eyes narrowing. "I understand what you mean, Captain. Loki wouldn't be imprisoned for that reason—unless something else happened that we don't yet know."

Nick Fury crossed his arms. "So what did happen?"

Natasha answered before Thor could speak. "It's probably related to Earth. In the second half of the video, Loki said that taking him to Earth wasn't a good idea because people there already hated him. That must mean he caused serious trouble on Earth before he was captured."

Thor nodded slowly. "That's possible. Asgard has always been responsible for protecting the Nine Realms—and Midgard, or Earth, is at the center of that protection. If Loki attacked Earth, then yes, imprisoning him would make sense."

He frowned deeply. "But what exactly did he do to the Earth? The video didn't explain that."

"No," Fury said, "it actually did."

Everyone turned toward him.

"In the last part of the video, we saw New York in ruins, alien corpses everywhere. And you, Thor, returned to Asgard with Loki in chains. That means Loki led an alien invasion of Earth."

Thor's eyes widened. "Invade the Earth? But why? Don't misunderstand me—compared to Asgard, the people of Earth are… weak. The planet itself holds little value. Unless…"

He hesitated, then muttered, "Unless Loki wanted to make himself king of Earth."

Steve frowned. "But what about those aliens—the Chitauri? Why would they follow him?"

Thor shook his head. "The Chitauri may be among the weaker races of the universe, but they're still far stronger than humans. Their king and the Grand Wizard of their empire would never hand command of their army to Loki… not unless someone even more powerful was backing him."
