(Cyrus's POV)
"I am not going to disrespect you by calling you green or inexperienced." The King said as we walked among each other, "But the truth is more complicated than what you can expect."
We were walking under a walkway, on the courtyard of the Castle. Behind us, his Knights were closely following. I could tell their hands were on the handles of their swords, completely on guard. They knew that they couldn't take any chances, leaving their King alone with someone who they might consider a threat.
I looked at him, "Oh yea?" I asked, "How so?"
He had a serious expression on his face, "I am not the King of some rock or a plot of land." He said, "Seven Kingdoms. I rule over Seven Kingdoms, each vast in its own right. Every Kingdom has its own culture, its own way of living. And while the Lord Paramounts of those Kingdoms are loyal to the Crown, to House Targaryen...the balance of the Realm is constantly on the verge of tipping."
I looked at him, "What?"
He stopped and looked at me, "We of House Targaryen are not meant to be just the Rulers and Overlords of the Realm." He said, "We are supposed to guide the people, even those who deserve judgement. To rule seven kingdoms, a King must know his place."
"What does any of that have to do with what I said?" I asked
"You think of us as being above others. And while in a way, that may be true....." He said, "It is for a reason. We Targaryens wield a very dangerous power, one that can decide the future of the Realm. No. The world. To control dragons, the very idea of that power is incredibly tempting. Many seek such a power, to wield it, to control it. To use it to destroy others. It is what keeps us at the top. It is what keeps everyone else in check. And while I admit that balancing Seven Kingdoms is not something just anyone could do perfectly, it is something I must do."
"And that will leave you ignorant to other things." I said seriously
He nodded, "I must take blame for that, Cyrus." he said, "I was unaware of such things. To think that filth in my city, in my home, to be doing that to children.....it is something I will not tolerate. And when I said that I will do it on our terms, I meant it. Come on the morrow, I will send my sons to sweep the streets of Fleabottom, searching for the criminal known as the Snake. I heard stories of this elusive man, controlling the crime of the city and manipulating innocents to kill and die for him. It must end."
I nodded, "I agree." I said, "It must. And I will take charge of it."
"There is no need for us to cross each other." He said seriously, "There is no reason for us to not work together. The Red Religion is not prominent in Westeros, the Faith of The Seven is absolute around these parts. If I allow your followers to take charge in something that falls under my responsibility, what would that tell my people?"
"Frankly, it doesn't matter to me." I said with a scowl, "It is your fault for letting it get to this point in the first place."
"Which is why I will make amends." Jaehaerys told me, "The children you found. My Queen has been vouching for an orphanage being opened near the Sept. It is about time we make that happen. Hand the children over to our Septas and we'll ensure that they are safe."
"Hm...." I said with a frown
"This is my city." He said, "I intend to deal with your issues peacefully. I will not allow the flames of a foreign entity to spread throughout, causing chaos."
"That is fine." I said, "I guess your people might be more equipped for that. And as for the search for the Snake, I will take part in it as well."
"I do not know much about you, Cyrus. But I can tell right away that you have some sort of personal turmoil when it comes to this." He said, "Must I give you a word of advice, do not allow such personal emotions dictate matters that affect innocents. You must think rationally."
I turned around, "Hm." I said, "I can see why they call you the Wise."
"Pardon me?" He asked
I glanced at him, "You immediately defused a potential conflict, speaking to a stranger who you know has the power to cause chaos in your city. You even offered to work together with me." I said, "I can tell that you're not stupid. But that doesn't mean that I will easily forgive that ignorance of yours."
"Hm." He said, "If that is what you feel...."
"I'll allow it." I said, "But the Snake is mine."
"I deal with him. My way."
***************
I was walking down the hallway, my "followers" were behind me.
"King Jaehaerys." I said, "How long has he been King?"
"Nearly forty years." Torys said, "As long as the Conqueror. One might say that he was a better King than Aegon I."
"Hm." I said, "He's no fool. That old fuck."
"What is your command, My Lord?" Torys asked
"We work along the Princes, I suppose." I said, "I want to bring the Snake to justice."
"Very well." Torys said
I stopped, narrowing my eyes as I saw what was before me.
In front of us, a young white-haired girl with purple eyes and wearing a red dress stood before us. She was holding her hands behind her back, pushing her chest forwards slightly. I can immediately tell that she wanted us to see her slightly exposed cleavage.
"A Princess.....?" Torys asked
I looked at the girl, "You....." I said, recognizing her to be the one from the beach, "You're the one I saw."
She blushed slightly, "It is you....." She said softly as she walked towards me, "The Man of Flames...."
Without saying another word, she placed her hand on my chest, giving me a warm smile. Despite what it looked, I could tell that there was nothing but mischief in that smile.
"Saera Targaryen." I said, remembering her name, "You're one of the Old Man's daughters?"
She nodded, "Yes." She said as she looked at my hair, "Grey hair....dark eyes...one might be mistaken.....who could ever expect you to be the Red God....."
"I'm not." I said with a scowl
"Show me." She said with a smile
"Show you what?" I asked as I stepped back, "What is it you want?"
"Show me your flames!" She said with a glint in her eyes, "Is it the same as dragonfire or is it brighter and hotter?"
"Our Lord's Flames burn hotter and brighter than even Balerion's flames." Torys spoke up, "Princess Saera. If you excuse us, we must-"
She scowled, "Silence, you pleb." She said with an angry tone, "Nobody was speaking to you."
Torys closed his mouth, a surprised expression on his face.
"You spoke to my father?" Saera asked, "What did he say?"
"Nothing that should concern a princess." I said, "Why?"
"Hm.....you'll do." she said as she walked past me, "I'll have you for sure."
"Huh?" I blinked
Suddenly, she smacked my ass and chuckled. The others were baffled at her actions and simply stepped back, allowing her to walk away while her mischievous laughter filled the hallway.
"D-Did....." Erys started, "Did she just do what i think she did?"
"That Princess...." Torys said, "H-How dare she....."
I was completely stunned by this, merely looking at Saera as she walked away, her white hair bouncing with every step.
"What the fuck?" I said with an annoyed tone,
"That little shit."
