Chapter 22 - Search For The Snake III

(Cyrus's POV)

"What am I doing?" I said as I rubbed my head

I was sitting down on the steps of a building, looking out at the street. For some reason, I had this inexplicable feeling of dread. Perhaps it was the realization that this was real, that I was in a world that I had no information about. I didn't know what truly happened to me to end up here, I just woke up on the beach, reincarnated with a power that I still had to master.

I had no clue what I was doing. I know I was never the smartest guy around, but fuck. I'm as clueless as the next one.

Yet here I was, placing myself on a moral high ground. Something about the whole situation pissed me off, made me want to act on it. But something else told me that I couldn't just impulsively act like this, otherwise I would suffer the consequences for it.

Even if my body cannot be physically harmed yet, the weakness for a Logia will sooner or later be found. In the Mera Mera no Mi's case, it is magma. I don't see someone with Akainu's fruit nor do I see a Volcano nearby. Not only that, I am next to the ocean so I am sure if someone tosses me into the ocean, I could drown.

Either way, I have an internal conflict at the moment.

What the fuck am I doing?

What am I going to do?

I'm just going with the flow.

I stated that I was going to cleanse the filth with my flames, but what does that truly mean? What should I truly do in this place I know nothing about?

I sighed, "Fuck...."

There was so much more to worry about than whatever the hell these Targaryens are up to. The King himself seems like he is trying his best to keep his Kingdoms in check, maintaining peace. Just because they do things I don't agree with, it doesn't mean I should antagonize them too much.

Then there's the Red Cult.

There is no way they aren't a cult.

Maybe their god is real, maybe they are a religion. But they truly do act like one; a cult.

If their god is actually real, I am not him. It is just a coincidence that I have the body made out of fire. It is not God's power; it is simply the power of a Devil Fruit from another world. But these people don't know that. To them, I am the God they worship. Or at least an aspect of him, a test to them.

Maybe, I should stick with them. I could learn more about this world through the Red Cult. Maybe....

I could make them guide me, navigate through the shit that his place has to offer. To cleanse the filth with my flames, we could do that.

But doing that will simply satisfy my moral obligations. What is it that I should truly do? I don't know, I really don't.

I looked up to the sky, wondering what the Goal that unknown woman said.

"I'm just a fucking idiot, am I?" I said as I blinked slowly, "But still, an idiot who has power. I can't wield this recklessly....."

"Cyrus." I heard Aemon call out

I looked at him, "What is it?"

He was walking up to me, holding his helmet next to him.

"No luck." He said, "We've been looking all over. There has been no sign of him. I reported to the King already, we are to end the search for now."

I frowned, "You're giving up already?"

"We postpone the search until the Snake gets confident enough to slip up." Aemon said, "For now, we stop."

"Tch....." I said, "If that's what you want."

"Where are you going to go now?" He asked

"Respectfully, it doesn't matter to you." I said as I crossed my arms and looked to the side, "There are things I must do."

"Hm." He said, "Very well. Just so you know, I don't trust you. And I don't think I will."

I looked at him, "Someone's smart." I said, "You don't have to trust me. But you have to know one thing; when I get my hands on the Snake, I will make him suffer. To pay for what he's done."

"I don't know much about you." He said, "But thinking you can redeem whatever guild you have by burning men, it is not right. You-"

"I don't want to hear talks about morality from you." I said seriously, pointing at my head, "Whatever goes on up here is my business."

"Fine." He said, "This is goodbye. For now."

He began to walk away.

As he walked, I heard Erys approaching me.

"My Lord." He said

I looked at him, "What is it?"

"I've heard word from Lady Mira." he said, "Torys states that we are to meet in a few nights, at a rendezvous at the beach."

"Who is this woman again?" I asked him with a raised eyebrow, "You keep mentioning her."

"She is one of your Red Priestesses, Lord." He said, "One who guides your people and relays your messages to them. She is the one who guided us to King's Landing."

"Hm." I said, "I see....."

"Shall we wait for this Snake to expose himself?" He asked, "We will capture him and we shall offer him to your flames, make no mistake."

"Hm." I said with a shrug while standing up, "For now, it doesn't matter."

"What do you mean?" He asked

"I don't know what I am to do." I said while walking past him, "Everything is very confusing to me. I don't know what I am doing."

"My Lord." He said

I stopped and looked at him, "What?"

"You are the Lord of Light." He said, "Your purpose is to Light the Way. However you do that is up to you, you will eventually fulfill it."

"How many times do I need to tell you-..." I said with a sigh, "Whatever. Sure."

"To Light The Way."
