Chapter 29: Let Me Teach My Sister Kendo~!

"It's all in the past, Sister, don't worry about it." Roy lifted his eyes toward Amatsuki Toki, then looked out the window. "I was abandoned by my parents when I was young. It was my grandfather who found and adopted me."

He smiled faintly. "After Grandpa passed away, I lived alone for a long time…"

Toki's gentle eyes softened. She stayed quiet, letting him speak, the light of Pandora's small flame dancing on her face.

Roy kept many details to himself, of course. Some truths were better left buried. But he told just enough to sound heartfelt—and genuine.

"Later, I found my way to the Sheep's house. A kind nun took me in along with other orphans."

He smiled as he spoke, his tone nostalgic. "Even though our home wasn't far from Elbaf, where the giants lived, we all got along. Humans, giants, and children of different races… living together peacefully."

He reached out and patted Pandora's glowing form. "The nun was a good person. Even though she's gone, her kindness stays with me."

"The Sheep's House…" Toki murmured. "What a wonderful place."

"Yeah. It's still there, even now. If you ever feel lost, you can stay there, Sister. The children are cute, the place is safe, and it's close to Elbaf."

Toki smiled, visibly touched. "Thank you, Roy. Maybe I will."

Though her heart was still set on reaching Wano, his words gave her a rare sense of peace. Since arriving in this era, she'd felt painfully out of place—alone, surrounded by strangers, all reminders of a world she'd lost to time.

After dinner, they cleaned the dishes together. Moonlight filtered through the small window, casting soft silver light across the wooden walls.

Toki brushed back her long green hair, tying it into a neat braid before rolling up her pink sleeves. Her movements were graceful, elegant.

Roy leaned against the counter, watching absentmindedly.

Noticing his gaze, Toki laughed lightly. "Roy, what are you staring at? Do I look strange?"

"Not strange," he replied without hesitation. "You look beautiful."

She smiled, amused. "You're quite the charmer, aren't you? Roy's handsome too."

As she bent closer to rinse a dish, the faint fragrance of her hair reached him. Her lips were soft pink, her blue eyes shining in the moonlight.

To her, he was just a child—innocent and harmless. But Roy… was anything but that.

Body of a boy, mind of an adult.

"Of course," she teased, "that red hair of yours is quite striking."

He blinked, forcing himself to stay composed. "Thanks… Sister."

---

Midnight fell. The ship rocked gently on the quiet sea.

In their small cabin, two beds awaited—a wooden one and a hammock. Roy had taken the hammock, leaving the larger bed for Toki.

But before turning in, Toki frowned slightly. "Roy, are you sure you don't want to sleep here? The bed's big enough for both of us."

The offer nearly killed him.

I refuse! I must! Roy screamed internally.

A single wrong move here could destroy months of effort. If he accepted, she'd think of him as a child forever—or worse, he'd end up like Conan, stuck in awkward silence once his "secret" was out.

"No, it's fine," Roy said calmly, though his soul wept inside. "The hammock's comfortable."

A few minutes later, silence filled the cabin. The silver moonlight poured through the window, spilling across the bed.

Roy turned over, unable to sleep, and glanced toward her.

Toki lay on her side, her long hair scattered like green silk over her pillow. The moonlight traced her delicate figure, peaceful and radiant.

Then, her eyes opened.

They stared at each other.

"…Can't sleep, Sister?" he asked softly.

"Can't sleep, Roy?" she replied with a smile.

"…Looks like we're both the same."

"Then let's talk a bit," she said, sitting up slightly. "Maybe it'll help."

Roy climbed down from the hammock and sat beside her. The faint scent of tea and the ocean lingered in the air.

"Tell me, Roy," Toki said, curious. "Is there something you want to do most in this world?"

Yes. Marry you.

But of course, he couldn't say that aloud.

"I've always wanted to go on adventures," he said earnestly. "To sail across the world and see every island. And now that I have Sister Toki with me, I want us to explore together."

Toki smiled warmly. "That sounds wonderful. Actually, I've been thinking the same thing. Once I finish my journey to Wano… maybe traveling the world with you would be nice."

Her words made his heart skip a beat.

But then, her expression faltered slightly.

She glanced at her hands. "Still… I'm not strong. Without my powers, I can barely defend myself."

Roy noticed the drop in her tone immediately. He'd already figured it out: she was frustrated at her weakness—and embarrassed that a child had saved her.

"Sister, do you want to become stronger?" he asked gently.

She blinked. "Stronger?"

Roy grinned, standing up and pulling his wooden sword from the corner. "Then let me teach you kendo!"
