Chapter 33 - Tang San Battles Zhao Wuji

**Chapter 33: Tang San Battles Zhao Wuji**

Ning Rongrong glanced at Qian Renyue, her eyes questioning whether they should seize this opportunity to spar with a Soul Sage-level opponent.

Qian Renyue hesitated. She hadn't planned to stay at Shrek Academy for long, but a Soul Sage-level powerhouse—especially one as unique as Zhao Wuji, the Immovable Bright King—offered a rare opportunity for growth. A spar with him could yield invaluable insights.

As Qian Renyue pondered, Tang San slowly lifted his head, cradling the soft, cotton-like Xiao Wu in his arms. His dark eyes, devoid of emotion, held unfathomable depth.

He turned slowly, carrying Xiao Wu, and approached Ning Rongrong. "Could you please take care of Xiao Wu for a while?"

Ning Rongrong blinked in surprise, retracted her Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda Martial Soul, and accepted Xiao Wu into her arms. Though her Martial Soul was support-oriented, as a soul master, her physical strength far surpassed that of ordinary people, making carrying Xiao Wu, a young girl, no burden at all.

After entrusting Xiao Wu to Ning Rongrong, Tang San turned to face Zhao Wuji.

Zhao Wuji stared in disbelief. "What? You still want to continue? You couldn't even withstand one of my attacks. My second soul ring ability, Vajra Palm, isn't something you can easily block."

Zhao Wuji would never reject these five children from joining Shrek Academy simply because the incense stick hadn't burned completely. In fact, the opposite was true. The strength these children had demonstrated greatly surprised and delighted him. Not only did each possess unique abilities, but they also displayed remarkable teamwork despite never having practiced together. Their future potential was limitless, surpassing even the academy's current three students.

His harsh words at the end were meant to prevent these talented youths from becoming arrogant due to their natural gifts. Shrek Academy had seen cases in the past where pride had stunted students' progress. Zhao Wuji didn't want these promising talents to stray from the right path. He hadn't anticipated Tang San's return, however. This courage alone earned Zhao Wuji's deep admiration.

Tang San shook his head. "I'm not here to continue the current test."

Zhao Wuji's disappointment was evident. "So, you're admitting defeat?"

Tang San shook his head again. "No. I want a proper fight with you. Let's start over. Please light another incense stick. If I can withstand its burning time, then allow all four of us to enter Shrek Academy simultaneously."

Zhao Wuji looked at Tang San with a half-smile. "And what if you can't hold out? Don't forget, even when all four of you attacked together, you still lost."

Tang San could make decisions for himself, and even for Xiao Wu in this moment, but he couldn't decide for the other two. He turned to Qian Renyue, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing.

Ning Rongrong gave Tang San a small smile, adopting a big sisterly demeanor. "Tang San, we're comrades. My father always taught me never to abandon my comrades. At worst, we'll all leave together. We've already failed the test anyway. The academies in the capital won't reject us. Don't worry, I have connections at the Heaven Dou Royal Academy."

Zhu Zhuqing nodded at Tang San, indicating her agreement.

Qian Renyue pondered for a moment before addressing Zhao Wuji. "Teacher Zhao, if possible, after Tang San's match, regardless of the outcome, could I also request a spar with you?"

"Oh? You, a purely healing support-type?" Zhao Wuji raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

"Yes."

Zhao Wuji burst into laughter. "Very well! Let's see what surprises you two youngsters have in store for me."

The third incense stick was lit and planted in the ground beside them.

Next, Tang San chose to unleash his full arsenal of techniques—techniques that belonged not to this world, but to the era of the Tang Sect. He employed the Profound Jade Hand, Purple Demon Eyes, hidden weapons, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and more.

Finally, after exerting every ounce of his strength, Tang San managed to withstand Zhao Wuji's attacks for the duration of an incense stick. He also severely wounded Zhao Wuji with his hidden weapons. Dai Mubai supported Tang San, who coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Qian Renyue retrieved the soul tool that had recorded the entire match and released her Martial Soul: "Third Soul Skill, Angel Star Array." A golden magic circle appeared on the ground, visibly accelerating the healing of Tang San and Zhao Wuji's injuries.

Qian Renyue approached Ning Rongrong. "Rongrong, did you see the small hammer Tang San used in his final attack against Teacher Zhao?"

Ning Rongrong thought for a moment. "Yes, I saw it. What about it, Sister?"

"Do you remember what the hammer looked like?"

"I remember."

"Did you notice anything different about that hammer compared to Tang San's other weapons? Though small, it seemed to emit faint soul power fluctuations when he used it."

"Sister, do you mean Tang San is... like you?" Ning Rongrong trailed off, not finishing her sentence.

Qian Renyue nodded, thinking about the soul tool she had used to record everything. She needed to find time to send it back for the elders to review.

Seeing Zhao Wuji's injuries fully healed but the poison still lingering, Dai Mubai quickly shouted, "Oscar! Oscar! Get over here! You've got a customer!"

"Where's the business? Where's the business?" Oscar's distinctive, soft voice, tinged with excitement, grew louder as he approached. Soon, he appeared before the group.

"Oscar, come here. Give me one sausage and one cured sausage."

Still somewhat intimidated by Zhao Wuji, Oscar hastily chanted his soul incantation, which left everyone present torn between laughter and exasperation.

Despite the ridiculousness of Oscar's soul incantation, its effects were undeniable. After eating Oscar's sausages and receiving Qian Renyue's healing, Zhao Wuji's injuries and poison were completely gone, his condition nearly fully restored.

After a brief rest, Tang San's mental energy had recovered somewhat, and his injuries were fully healed. He managed to stand up with some effort.

"Little Hedgehog, is there anything else? You've already passed my test," Zhao Wuji said, looking at the young man before him with a mix of resentment and admiration. Though Tang San had humiliated him and left him with minor injuries, the child's combat potential and unwavering will were truly monstrous.

Tang San replied, "Teacher Zhao, I apologize for my impulsiveness earlier. Your strength was overwhelming, forcing me to give it my all. Let me remove the hidden weapons from your body. Otherwise, they might cause complications later."

Hearing this, Zhao Wuji's expression softened slightly, his weathered face flushing crimson. After all, he was a Soul Sage, yet he had been forced to use his fifth soul ring against a child who hadn't even reached level 30. It was a clear case of bullying the weak. Still, this "Little Hedgehog" was truly remarkable. His bizarre and unpredictable attacks had genuinely broadened Zhao Wuji's horizons.

Tang San approached Zhao Wuji, first confirming the location of the Dragon Beard Needles in his body. His right hand transformed back into its jade-white hue, and his fingers danced across Zhao Wuji's wounds, rapidly tapping several pressure points. With a swift application of the Crane Control Dragon Capture technique, a golden needle tip emerged from beneath the skin. Tang San pinched the tip and yanked sharply, extracting a Dragon Beard Needle.

Qian Renyue's Martial Soul remained active, the Angel Star Array beneath her feet still faintly glowing. The remaining healing energy completely mended Zhao Wuji's last lingering injuries.

Although Tang San's injuries were fully healed, his newly restored internal energy was completely depleted once more. This time, he collapsed without uttering a word, fortunately caught by Oscar who was nearby.

Zhao Wuji frowned slightly as he watched Tang San faint in Oscar's arms. "Mubai," he instructed, "see to it that these four newcomers get settled in. Classes start tomorrow. No one is to touch the weapons Tang San scattered across the ground—some are poisoned. Let him clean them up when he wakes up."

With these words, Zhao Wuji turned and strode away.
