Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: The Antidote, the Reckoning, and the Birth of Spider-Man

Su Yi had effortlessly subdued the monstrous Professor Lizard. Against Su Yi's immense, ten-ton-level strength, the Lizard's evolved form was completely overwhelmed. The creature struggled violently, its reptilian muscles bulging, but it couldn't shift the foot planted on its chest.

Su Yi further ensured his capture by using the Symbiote Suit to extrude specialized, high-tensile threads, binding the Lizard's powerful limbs.

Now, all they had to do was wait for Gwen to deliver the antidote.

Chief George Stacy cautiously approached the scene. "You... you actually caught him?"

"Quite obviously, yes," Su Yi replied simply.

George looked from the terrifying monster to the seemingly unbeatable man standing over it. "What happens next? A standard police van won't hold him."

"Don't worry," Su Yi assured him. "My friend went to synthesize an antidote. It will take a few more minutes. Once it's administered, both he and your infected subordinates will be cured, reverting to normal."

George let out a deep breath, the tension finally easing from his shoulders. He was forced to admit that the "Spider-Bully" was right; a threat like the Lizard was utterly beyond the capability of conventional law enforcement. His only option was to trust the man in the black suit.

Not long after, a white-and-pink blur zipped over the bridge. Gwen swung in, landing near Su Yi, still maintaining the disguise of the Ghost-Spider. Noticing her father nearby, she carefully modulated her voice.

"I've finished the antidote," she announced, presenting the vials.

"Treat them," Su Yi instructed.

Su Yi and Gwen split up. Quickly, the antidote was administered to the mutating police officers, halting the process. Then, a larger dose was injected into the captured Lizard. The transformation reversed—the massive lizard shrank, its scales receding, until Dr. Curt Connors lay on the ground, human once more, exhausted and confused.

As the police moved in to apprehend Connors and care for the newly recovered officers, Su Yi knelt beside the Professor.

"Professor Connors," Su Yi began, his voice low. "Do you truly believe that turning into a reptile is the path to human evolution?"

Connors, shaken and weak, could barely process what happened. He looked at Su Yi, remembering the impossible strength. "I... I was so powerful. But in front of you... you're like a god. How can you be so strong?"

"Of course I'm human," Su Yi stated. "I simply took the path of evolution a step ahead. Humanity requires millennia for such a leap; I only needed a few years. You tried to shortcut the process with genetic mutation; that only leads to regression."

Connors was speechless. The existence of someone like Su Yi shattered his fundamental beliefs about science and power.

It didn't matter now. Connors was quickly taken into custody by George's men. Su Yi knew the local police wouldn't hold him for long. Forces like S.H.I.E.L.D., or organizations interested in weaponizing biology (like the shadow groups around General Ross or Stryker), would surely intervene. Connors's fate was uncertain, but his return was almost guaranteed.

Su Yi, seizing the moment of police distraction, Teleported away from the scene with Gwen.

Back in Gwen's room, she was bubbling with adrenaline. "So, our mission is complete?"

"It's considered complete," Su Yi clarified. "But the problem of Connors isn't solved. He won't stay in prison. He'll be taken by some powerful entity to continue his research."

Gwen was disbelieving. "That's impossible, right? They'd just lock him up!"

"You underestimate the greed and ambition in this world. Ever since Captain America was created, countless forces have been trying to replicate the Super-Soldier Serum. They see Connors as a walking, talking research lab."

Gwen understood the grave implications: more super-powered individuals, and more potential disasters. "That's truly bad."

"That's just the beginning. There is also a type of person called a Mutant. They gain powers through genetic mutations, and certain official organizations actively hunt and experiment on them."

"So, Gwen," Su Yi said seriously, "you need to be careful, not just of the villains, but also of the relevant authorities."

Gwen nodded, absorbing the new reality of her life. "I will. But Su, if I ever get caught, will you come and save me?"

"Of course," Su Yi assured her, holding her tightly. "I won't let you get hurt."

As the two talked, George Stacy arrived home, weary and frustrated. The power struggle over Connors had already begun, confirming Su Yi's prediction.

Su Yi quietly slipped out, returning to his home to assess his gains.

Su Yi activated his system: "System, tally the gains from the Professor Lizard incident."

[Ding, Host defeated Professor Lizard Connors!]

[Professor Lizard Connors's fate has been changed, gaining 4000 Fate Points!]

[Gwen's fate has been changed, gaining 1000 Fate Points!]

[Peter's fate has been changed, gaining 15,000 Fate Points!]

[Additionally gained Professor Connors's intelligence!]

"Professor Connors's intelligence? Excellent," Su Yi noted. This acquisition included all the knowledge needed to perfect the Lizard serum, or create an effective antidote—a huge boost to his scientific base. His total Fate Points now stood at 224,000.

While Su Yi slept, Peter Parker was awake, working furiously. The events with Connors had solidified his resolve. Peter felt personally responsible; his early interactions with Connors had allowed the Professor to perfect the semi-finished serum.

"I should have stopped Professor Connors," Peter thought, working on his equipment. "I must become Spider-Man and use my abilities to help more people. I won't shrink back because of problems and dangers."

His first web-shooters were finally successful. His suit was also initially complete, though he was already planning material upgrades.

The next morning at school, Peter approached Su Yi, a new look of confidence and purpose on his face.

"Su, I have my answer," Peter declared. "I want to become Spider-Man!"

Su Yi smiled, a mentor's pride in his eyes. "I had already anticipated your choice, Spider-Man. And yes, I will train you, guide you, and help you become the best hero you can be."

"Once you've made your final suit, our next target is a super villain hiding in the shadows."

Peter felt a faint excitement mixed with apprehension. "Shouldn't I train first before dealing with villains?"

"Villains won't wait for you to be ready," Su Yi countered. "And for every day you delay, more people suffer. This new villain is not one that can be easily defeated by raw force. This is a test for both you and Gwen."

Peter accepted the challenge immediately. "I will do my best to handle this matter."

The fate of Peter Parker is sealed: he is now ready to begin his journey as Spider-Man.
