Chapter - 35
As if accepting his challenge, two of the assassins lunged at the same time, moving with perfect coordination. These were the assassins who were hidden among the musicians.
The band duo with their twin slim swords flanked Leo from both the sides.
Leo did not have a shield to protect himself. So there was no hope of defense. It will only get him killed.
He moved to the assassin on the left, and just when they were just half a dozen feet away, Leo dropped to his knees, and his momentum made him slide on the rough stone floor.
The assassin was aiming for his chest, but his blade barely managed to cut a single strand of his black hair. But Leo was in the safe.
Leo, on the other hand, was quick to slam his fist in the assassin's knee, knocking him off balance.
Before the assassin could get his stepping, Leo pushed his dagger in his thigh deep, and twisted the blade.
"AAAGHHH!" The assassin screamed, but he was seasoned. Even through the pain, he looked down and raised his sword to chop Leo's head off his body. But his hand remained in the air, never getting down.
The paralytic effect of the dagger was quick.
In the meantime, the second assassin had already reached them. So, Leo didn't waste time. He grabbed the first man by his collar, and pulled him before him, using him as a shield.
The second assassin was already pushing forward and could not pull his sword back. His blade sank into his partner's back instead of Leo's skull that he was aiming for.

Seeing his sword go through his partner, the Assassin hesitated for a second.
Leo surged upward. He pushed the dead assassin in his hand onto the second assassin.
With the help of the stealth and agility boost thanks to his Shadowweave Tunic, he hid into the smoke that had started to fill the hall.
The assassin was in a bind, he slashed his sword aimlessly. Hoping to hit Leo, but Leo was like a shadow in that smoke. One moment he was there, another, he was gone.
[Magical Fingers Activated]
And that's when he activated the Magical Fingers. He has seen its effect on Lady Seraphine. Now it was time for him to test it out in battle.
From within the smoke, Leo appeared behind the assassin and his fingers lightly brushed against the skin on his forearm, all the way to his wrist, along his exposed arm.
The man suddenly froze in his spot. And his butt cheeks squeezed tight. His grip around his sword loosened. His face suddenly twisted in an ugly way.
Before he could understand what was going on, Leo's voice rang in his ear.
"It feels weird, doesn't it?"
The assassin twitched, trying to grab his sword harder and swinging it. But Leo did not give him the opportunity. HIs dagger appeared from behind the man and slashed his throat open.
Blood sprayed across the floor, mixing with spilled wine.
The man died, choking on his own breath.
[Assassin Defeated. +40 EXP]
Leo exhaled sharply, adrenaline burning through him.
"Three down," he whispered to himself.
But it was still not over. He was still one short of crossing the hallway mark.
"Four left."
He then turned his attention towards the man wielding a two handled greatsword he had grabbed from one of the dead soldiers along with the armour.
So now Leo was facing a fully armoured assassin with a two handled greatsword.
The big ass assassin swung the blade and tore through the air with just the raw power. If it struck Leo, he would be cut in two parts despite the Shadowweave Tunic.
"Alright," Leo muttered, jaw tight, "I might have to do it the hard way."
He flicked his wrist and threw one of his dagger towards the assassin. He tried to dodge, but the heavy armour made his movements slow. And it hit him on his helmet with a clang.
"It's futile, rat," The man took a step forward, then another and soon he was running towards Leo. He then swung his massive blade from above, aiming to cleave Leo in half from top to bottom.
Leo decided to meet the massive blade with his dagger. It was suicidal, but he felt his dagger could bear the brunt of it.

But the dagger managed to make the massive blade veer off by a few inches and the blade slammed into the floor embedding itself deep enough to crack the stone.
Stone dust exploded upward.
Before the man could pull it out of the ground, Leo was already on his back. He didn't go for the armour. Instead, he went for the joints. He jammed his dagger into the unarmored gap at the man's armpit, shoving it all the way to the hilt.
"UGGGHHH!!!"
The giant howled in pain, the sword dropped from his hands. Leo grabbed the man's helmet, and ripped the helmet off his face and delivered a thunderous headbutt to the man's nose. Bone crunched.
The brute staggered back, clutching his nose as the striking pain disoriented him.
Leo didn't waste time. He quickly jumped off the assassin, and was facing him.
With a precise move he punched the man on the throat to shut down a scream, then another to the jaw to crack bone, and a final hammering strike to the cheekbone that sent the giant crashing to the floor like dropped meat.
The man hit the ground hard, gasping and stunned, but he was still not dead.
Leo stood over him, eyes cold.
"No sleeping on the job, jackass" he muttered.
The brute tried to reach for his sword. Leo stomped on his wrist, and the force was hard enough to snap bone. The man opened his mouth to speak, but no voice came out of his broken throat.
And Leo did not want the man to suffer in agony. Ke knelt down and in a flash the dagger plunged into his mouth, coming out from the back of his skull.
Blood sprayed. The man twitched once, then went limp.
[Assassin Defeated: +50 EXP]
Leo yanked the blade free with a sharp twist, wiped it on the guard's clothes, then looked up.
"Three Left."
