Unable to understand where she was —or even whether she still truly existed— Evelyn began to feel emotions she couldn't name.
One by one, she looked at the doctor and nurses in front of her, then at the pink-haired young man, at Ash, and finally at the other young man.
She already knew Ash, but the others also felt strangely familiar. She had seen them somewhere before, yet she couldn't pinpoint where.
Ash reached out, smoothing Evelyn's messy hair and tucking a few loose strands behind her ear. Seeing this, the pink-haired man lightly grabbed Ash's arm with his fingertips, trying to pull him back.
"How does she remember you but not me..." he muttered to himself.
When Evelyn locked eyes with the dark brown–haired young man watching them from behind, she noticed his eye color for the first time.
They were a deep navy blue with flecks of brown, and the light streaming through the window beside her bed hit them in such a way that they looked almost purple.
It was mesmerizing— so much so that she couldn't look away for a moment.
What finally made her look away was the mischievous smile spreading across his face.
"It seems you're experiencing memory loss due to head trauma. We need to run a series of tests to determine whether there are any additional complications. An MRI and a blood test may be necessary. We can begin once you feel stable enough," the doctor said as he pulled his phone from his pocket.
As he spoke, everyone turned their attention to him. The more Evelyn listened, the more she felt that everything she was seeing and hearing was far too realistic.
Well, okay I guess… This dimension doesn't seem all that different from the real world anyway, she thought.
Just as she was about to wonder where her sister was now, two tall young men burst into the room shouting.
"EVE!!" they yelled in unison.
Evelyn raised her eyebrows in shock as she stared at the two young men whose only differences were their clothes and hairstyles.
Their faces, height, and build were completely identical. As her gaze shifted back and forth between them, she began to feel slightly dizzy.
One of the twins dropped to his knees, stretching his arms along the length of Evelyn's bed, while the other moved to her opposite side.
As Evelyn tried to look at both of them at once, she couldn't help but wonder why so many men were gathered around her.
How could she possibly have this many connections to men in this dimension?
Is this heaven, and is God gifting me with male angels now? she thought.
Suddenly, when the dark brown-haired young man she'd exchanged glances with earlier received a call, Evelyn turned toward him. The moment he brought the phone to his ear, he had to pull it back because of the noise.
Even Evelyn could hear the person on the other end.
"Fucking hell! Damn it, the traffic is terrible! I can't get to the hospital!" the deep-voiced man shouted.
His voice was so deep that, combined with his yelling, it almost sounded like a wolf's howl.
The dark brown-haired young man rolled his eyes, then brought the phone back to his ear.
"I told you to take my motorcycle and come, Raven. But you didn't do so…"
The man on the other end let out an audible groan before asking, "Is Evelyn okay?"
Before the dark brown-haired young man stepped away to answer the call, he winked at Evelyn, who had been watching him. After following him with her eyes, Evelyn turned back to Ash.
He had already slipped away from the growing crowd and was now talking to the doctor in one corner of the room. They were too far for her to hear what they were saying.
She let out a deep sigh and was about to lower her gaze when she froze, noticing the pink-haired young man looking at her with tear filled eyes.
They stared at each other for a moment without saying anything. Then Evelyn sighed again.
"What's your name?"
As if he had been waiting for that moment, the young man immediately pulled the chair next to her bed and sat right beside her, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Do you really not remember? Would you remember if I said… Angelo? Maybe… Eros?"
When Evelyn shook her head, the dark-skinned young man pursed his lips. The twins, who had been listening to their conversation, exchanged surprised looks.
"What? Evelyn doesn't remember who you are?" asked the one leaning across her bed.
The other twin, standing on her other side, suddenly placed his hand on Evelyn's forehead. She flinched at the sudden touch and turned toward him.
When the other twin saw the unfamiliar look in her eyes, he quickly pulled his hand back and shouted.
"What do you mean, you don't remember me either?!"
"How is that even possible? She looks like she remembers Ash, though." his twin added.
Even though she couldn't help it, Evelyn started to feel guilty because everyone was reacting so strongly. She clasped her hands together on the blanket, interlacing her fingers and cracking her knuckles.
"So.. what are your names?" she asked quietly.
The twin who had been leaning across the bed immediately straightened up and brought his face closer to hers, as if seeing him from up close might help her remember.
"I'm Ivan. And this is my twin, Kian," he said, brushing his hair back.
As Evelyn looked into his green eyes, she noticed the small mole below his left eye. From what she'd seen earlier, his twin had a mole too but it was under his right eye.
Wait… hold on… Angelo, Ivan, and Kian?
Suddenly, as if something had clicked, Evelyn pushed herself up from the bed and parted her lips in shock.
As she slowly regained her awareness, she suddenly shouted, "Wait… No way!"
Ash and the young man who had just finished his phone call both turned toward her. Then Evelyn began saying each of their names one by one.
She looked at the pink-haired young man. "Angelo!"
Angelo's face lit up with joy, thinking Evelyn finally remembered him.
Then Evelyn named the twins, "Ivan and Kian," and the dark brown-haired young man, "Julian," watching them gather around her bed.
And finally, she murmured, "And Raven…"
